Ubuntu :: Run To Terminal Commands At Boot To Get Wireless Card Working?

I need to run to terminal commands at boot to get my wireless card working, the included drivers with ubuntu dosen't work for my card so I compiled my own broadcom drivers. I am on 9.10 ubuntu. I need these commands ran at boot in order for my wireless to work.
#sudo modprobe lib80211
#sudo insmod wl.ko
I have done these commands as per the readme included with the source files.
# load driver as described above
# cp wl.ko /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net/wireless
# depmod -a

I am working on Ubuntu 9.10.Since last two days there is issue while working with Terminal.Whenever I type a command and press enter it doesnt do anything. command is not executed. I guess its in loop. when I press Ctrl+C then it comes out of loop. this happens with all commands and I am not sure what is the problem.I have reinstalled Terminal but it did not worked.

I just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

Also, I've been doing some research and found out about some file located /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. So I looked in mine and found out that only my eth0 is added.

i started using computer when it was all dos driven so thought i was going to be fine using the terminal in ubuntu the problem i am facing is i can not quite get my head round why is it if i load the terminal. and the first this i type is dir or ls it gives me a list off directories. So why is it if i type cd /pictures i get no such file or directory ? Confused
This also bugging the jebus out off me is i am trying to get into my usb pen drive from the terminal to run a program i have on there.
so i type cd /media
then typed ls
is displayed New Volume <-- This being the name off my pen drive
i have tried every this to get into there but the commands i would use in dos are not playing ball.
Can some one please explain how to get into my usb pen then tell me were i can go read on this as i really can not get my head around this at moment.

I've installed 10.04 on a Dell 1200 laptop and cannot get the wireless card working. I've tried getting Ndiswrapper but it doesn't appear to be available on 10.04, and since I don't have an Internet connection, I can't download it. The card is a Broadcom Corp BCM4306 802.11 b/g. How do I get the card connecting to my Linsksys?

I installed 10.10 on my 2nd laptop with the SAME internal wireless card as my other laptop, but Ubuntu all of a sudden acts like I have no wireless card? When I click on the network icon in the panel, Wireless Connections is enabled, but Ubuntu shows no available wireless networks? I can switch to my other laptop and it works fine.

I have been trying to get my Trendnet TEW-649UB wireless card to work on Karmic. I have ndiswrapper "installed", but it doesn't seem to be working. I have reinstalled ndiswrapper-utils 1.9 and ndiswrapper-common from synaptic, but not ndisgtk (the GUI for ndiswrapper). When I try to see if any drivers are installed using terminal (ndiswrapper -i) the terminal freezes on me.
Previously I tried using the help doc for installing Trendnet wireless drivers, but I was met with no success. After my first try using the help doc it seemed that ndiswrapper was working correctly and the driver was installed, but when I tried to connect to my network my wireless was listed as "device not managed". If this helps at all the current state of my /etc/network/interfaces is: auto lo iface lo inet loopback
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
When I run iwconfig I get:
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.
but when I try to install the driver using ndiswrapper -i I get the message: driver net8192su is already installed Right now my computer is not even reading that the wireless card is avaliable. When I left click on the network icon I can only see that I am on a wired network {ifupdown (wlan0)}. My computer is dual booted with Vista and the card works there, but for some reason I am having trouble with Ubuntu.

I've just installed Ubuntu (Koala) on an old (but worthy) Toshiba laptop. It's got a Sitecom WL-140 wireless card. (BTW I'm new to Ubuntu, but an old hand at Solaris). Can't get the card to work, although I think It's nearly there. nm-tool shows driver is p54pci. The activity light shows an orange light occasionally. State is disconnected. I'm not really sure whether I should be using the supplied driver (p54pci) or the Windows driver for this card and ndiswrapper. I've installed the Windows driver with ndiswrapper thinking this may fix it but no.
ndiswrapper -l says wlancig: driver installed and device (1260:3886) present.

I have a Compaq AMD64 that has ubuntu 9.04 on one HD that works great. I've installed 10.04 on a separate HD and had problems installing it. I have 10.04 running now but I can't get my wireless card to work. During installation I skipped setting up the wireless network. Now when I boot into the 10.04 partition I cannot get the nm-applet to work. I can't get it onto the task bar and I don't see it anywhere else.
I checked to see what drivers are installed, and since I have no connection with that OS I can't update or DL drivers for it. I'm pretty sure that it is because I skipped setting it up during installation. What do I need to do to get the wireless working now? I checked other threads and none seem to pertain to my situation. Since I have to log into the 9.04 partition, I can't copy/paste outputs very easily.

I need some help getting my wireless card working.I have a ASUS PCE-N13 and I'm running ubuntu 10.10 AMD64.I have confirmed that the card works running under win xp.The problem I have is that it can't see any available networks.I have downloaded and compile the latest driver from ASUS rt2860sta 2.1.0.0 and added these lines to the blacklist file.

I just installed ubuntu 9.10 on my hp pavilion dv2110rs and everything worked fine but the wireless card. i cant figure out what is wrong. when i type lspci into the terminal it tells me "01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)" and i have no idea where to go from here to install a working driver. i tryed to go by the ubuntu guide but i got complettly lost.

I bought a wireless card as stated because it said Linux compatible on it.
I found out on another blog that I needed to blacklist the following:
blacklist rt2x00usb
blacklist rt2x00lib
blacklist rt2800usb
Since then the wireless on my Ubuntu finds a couple of networks, amongst them my wireless network that I am trying to connect. When I enter the Password (which I enter correctly btw) then it tries to connect, but then stops after about 30 seconds.

I have an acer lab top and OpenSuSE 11.2 installed but now the wireless card is not working. With ubuntu I had a tool called jokey to install missing drivers. Does there exist a jockey version (rpm not deb) for OpenSUSE or is there i simillar tool.

I'm running Fedora 14. Sabrent PCI-G802 PCI Wireless Card - 54Mbps, 802.11g, Windows/Mac/Linux Compatible [URL]. I bought this card (under $20) and it worked out of the box. I'll be buying the Sabrent N PCI (which they make) card once I upgrade my network/router.

I've upgraded to Maverick but now I cannot get my wireless card working. In Lucid it didn't work out of the box, but worked perfectly by wrapping the Windows driver with ndiswrapper.
I noticed when I installed Maverick that wireless is enabled in Network-Manager and it gives me the option to create a wireless network or connect to a hidden network but it's not discovering/showing any of the wireless networks in range! So it seems as though the card is being recognized but the driver isn't working fully...? I tried wrapping the windows drivers, but that didn't change the situation at all.

Ever since I upgraded to the new Ubuntu, I have been having problem with wireless. In the "Hardware Drivers" I come up with 2 drivers:
1) Boadcom B43 wireless driver
2) Broadcon STA wireless driver
I activated the first one, but latter noticed that the wireless was not working, so I tried installing the second and it returned this message:

I have a Dell Vostro 200 with the above wireless card in it and I cant get it to work. I have been on Intel's website and downloaded e1000-8.0.18 and installed as the instructions. But it is still greyed out on the Network Manager. I have just installed Ubuntu Desktop the latest current version.

I started on ubuntu 8.10 and my wireless card has always worked,Since i did a fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 it still seems to work to a point.I can see networks, click them and use a password to connect but it never seems to carry on, I typed the password correctly and after a minute it asks for it again.I have read a post about problems other people are having and that i need to install a different program.But i cant install another program if there is no wireless as apt-get doesn't work without internet connection.So... I need to download something that will fix it (possible update if one has been released) to xp (partition) then access xp partition from ubuntu and install it.

I installed the driver using Ndiswrapper and it says that it installed correctly and that the hardware is present, but it still is not letting me connect to wireless. Network manager does not show any available wireless networks, just as if there were no wireless card installed at all. The wireless card works in windows. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Well, I have an issue with my wireless card in Ubuntu 10.04, my wireless card model is:
the D-Link WIRELESS N 150 DESKTOP ADAPTER DWA-525. I was already successful getting it to work by using the RaLink driver suggested here and following the instructions in their readme.But after a system update I performed through Update Manager (in which I guess the kernel was updated), the device stopped working completely. The wireless icon remains(in the top panel), but it displays a red exclamation mark next to it

I have a DELL Vostro 1500 and I have Debian Lenny running on it. I did get the wireless card BCM4312 working but after doing apt-get update followed by apt-get upgrade and after rebooting it stopped working. I am including the output from iwconfig, ifconfig and lsmod.

I have a dwa-125 dlink wireless card which will not work. This is my first time using OpenSuse 11.2 (Well OpenSuse period). I had the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10 as well. I am trying openSUSE after a long break from Linux, but I am running into the original issue I ran into several years ago which made me decide not to use this distro. My LAN card is working fine, and I can get internet hardwired into my router, but I am not having any luck getting my wireless card recognized or working. Also, my notification area on my taskbar (sorry for the Windows terms) is not showing any sort of network status icon.
I have gone Computer>Install Software> and installed the b43 fwcutter thing from the repos, and have also run the following command in terminal:
sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware
In Network Settings in YaST, my NIC is showing, but I am still not seeing my Wireless card.

I have a Compaq n610c laptop equipped with a w200 wireless card on the lid of the laptop. Works fine on XP. I recently formatted the HDD and installed Ubuntu 9.10. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 64-bit. It has a Dell 1397 Wireless card with Broadcom BCM 4312 hardware. This is proven by running lspci in Terminal. I downloaded Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit and burned a disc of it. I used System>Administration>USB Startup Disc Creator to make a Live USB from a 4GB flash drive. I plugged it in and my computer booted into Ubuntu with no trouble. The only problem is that I can't connect to my wireless network. The problem is that no matter how I install the Broadcom STA driver, it just says that the driver is activated but not actively in use. I've used Synaptic Package Manager, Jockey, and even Terminal. I've tried running

in Terminal, but nothing seems to happen. In Ubuntu, my computer acts as though it has no wireless card, but the wired connection is fine (except for the inconvenience of connecting with a cable). In Windows 7, the wireless connection is fine.
