Aug 15, 2010I installed a theme in emerald, and it didn't do anything, like, it had no effect on my windows or anything. So i did some searching and the only thing i could find was to run "emerald --replace" in the terminal, and it worked, but if I exit out of the terminal, it reverts back to the old theme.How do I keep emerald's theme, even after I exit the terminal?

Feb 13, 2010i recently watched Die Hard 4.0 and liked the look of his theme; this lead me to download it from some website.. it's a .emerald - so i went into Ubuntu Software Center and i found it, but there was no install button.. and after poking around on here, and using terminal alot. i still havent got it.

Aug 12, 2011Every time I choose a theme in this thing, the system never switches over to it. Am I supposed to log out, then log back in again to enable the newly installed .emerald themes? I tried running "emerald --replace", but my system just screws up once I do that: The window decorations completely remove themselves and I am stuck with uncontrollable windows.
I am using Ubuntu 11.04 in Classic mode.

Jun 30, 2010this might not make much sense, but i was using gtk for my window decorator, then i decided to try emerald. i somewhat like it, but i was getting used to the minimize, maximize buttons being on the left side, but emerald has moved them to the right.

Debian Installation :: No Network-Manager - Pull Up The Terminal And Enter A Command To Start?
Sep 1, 2011I downloaded Debian Stable last night, and everything appear to go smoothly. Today, I booted up the new OS to try it out for the first time. As I was exploring a few of the features, I decided to pull up a web browser. No internet connection.
No big deal, I thought, as I searched around for a way to connect wirelessly. I couldn't find a way to do so. I consulted one of my more Linux savvy friends, who advised me to pull up the terminal and enter a command to start the network-manager. According to the terminal, no such file currently exists on my system.
This is a bit of a conundrum for me, since I am on my university campus with no ethernet cord to attempt a direct connection. Is there any way to get the network-manager onto my computer? Also, did I mess up somewhere in the installation, or did someone not package the file with CD1 for some unknown reason?

Sep 18, 2010I've been using 10.04 for a few months here and installed the truglass 0.5 theme for quite some time. I've been putting up with one downfall of it, which is on certain windows the min/max/close buttons do not show. I can hover over where they should be to actually use them, but they are not visible on all windows. They always come up with firefox, unless I hit a pop-up and a new window comes up. Any nautilus window doesn't have them unless focus on that window is lost. Any ideas on how I can solve this? See attached screenshot.

I do not think that this is an error or abnormal at all I just want to know if there is a way to show the side borders instead of hide them. May 25, 2010After switching to 10.04 (fresh install) I can't adjust emerald themes. In emerald settings manager I used to click on desired theme, edit it and save under a new name, then delete old one. Weird, but working. Now, when I click on theme in the list, it sets this theme and quits. I didn't find a way to adjust theme settings.

Feb 10, 2011Only problem is when there's no information to read I can't learn anything. So I've looked and looked but I can't find anything on the KDM theme manage that comes with kubuntu 10.10.
SO here's what I want to do:
All I want to do is just change the login and splash screens to something more to my liking when I got to System settings -> System Administration -> Login Screen , which is the KDM that comes on kubuntu (trust me I looked for kdmtheme under KpackageKit I get a chance to pick new themes I go through and find something I like and go to install and it doesn't show. All I get is the original one and that's it.
