I would like to open the file manager by command line using sudo, but I just can't remember the name of it!! I can "almost" remember it... but it escapes me. And I am afraid I don't know where to look for it.

So, I cannot do a lot of thing in my computer. The logical solution is to boot in failsafe mode and access to the root terminal, but, I don't know how to change the permission to allow me to use sudo.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI adjusted some settings in the desktop settings folder in KDE. I had only one user account on the machine. Next time I rebooted I could not log into KDE (it kept bombing out). I had to log into the console. Finally I managed to create a new account with useradd but this user cannot sudo
My problem is that my home directory is encrypted, so I need a new user with sudo privileges to delete all the kde files and folders in my original users home directory so that I can start with a new KDE setup (which won�t be a bad thing since I tinkered a lot).
How can I add sudo privileges to the new account (I presume I can do it by logging in with my sudo account in a terminal login?
I have the following commande /sbin/fuser -f -u /u/DT01/F010107 1>/tmp/null 2>/tmp/seausr.T0069 when executing as root 'su' this give me all user using the file. but when tried with 'sudo' i am asked with 'user password'. Is ther anyway to simply get the result without having to supply a password and to see all user not only me. (i have the file open also).

I made a live USB memory stick / pendrive with Ubuntu netbook remix 10.04 using my desktop computer. I want to install / update my netbook that has no network function yet. I booted the desktop with the pendrive & ran update manager. I want to update the kernel so I will have the driver that will operate my netbook ethernet.Acer AOD260 has Ethernet Controller: AR8151 v1.1 Fast Ethernet, Atheros Communications & Network Controller: Broadcom 4727 (rev 01)and will not work from the current release of 10.04 (too new) but there are supposed to be drivers in the newer kernels.
Running Update Manager I get a box labeled "Debconf on ubuntu" & says "Configuring grub-pc". There is an entry box that says "linux command line:" & is empty. When I press the help button I get the message "The following Linux command line was extracted from /etc/default/grub of the 'kopt' parameter in GRUB Legacy's menu.lst. Please verify that is correct, and modify it if necessary.The installer is hanging, Preconfiguring packages ..., probably waiting for a response, but I have no idea what to do.

- FatRat (doesnt work without X-Server)
- Slimrat (doest have actualy a web ui)
- Plowshare (no WebUI)
It seems to be very hard to find

Like Ctrl + Alt+ Backspace for reboot. I went to the short cut app and I can add a short cut key, name it, but can't seem to figure out how to assign it a function. Didn't seem intuitive to me. Somehow a slew of files on my system are now showing this way. This seems to correspond when I ran rsync from my netbook to sync it up with my desktop where I am having a problem.

A day ago I finally got around to upgrading the PackageKit installation that had been sitting for a week and a half, so I found a new upgrade for sudo available - the one that gives the sudoreplay command, I forget which version number it is exactly. When I try to use the sudo command I get this notice in my terminal:Code:Can't open /var/db/sudo/me/1: Permission deniedI didn't get it before. What do I have to do to make it open? I'm using SELinux in enforcing mode if that helps.

My .jar file needs and uses some files in the same directory it's in (everything, including the jar was unzipped into said directory). It runs perfectly when I do java -jar file.jar in the command line, but there's trouble when I double-click the file when running from the file system manager. I've tried a custom command under properties ie java -jar, but the problem is that the .jar file doesn't seem to be able to use any of the files in the same directory. When running, the jar can't find any of the files that it needs.

The command could not be located because '/usr/bin' is not included in the PATH environment variable. sudo: command not found
