Ubuntu Servers :: Sending Main From The Command Line?
Mar 28, 2011I'm installing a 10.04 server remotely - it's basically an RSYNC host for backups. I've got one minor issue - it's really more of an annoyance, but I would like to have it solved.When sending e-mails, the messages come in addressed to three destinations - when it's only supposed to be sent to one. What's worse is that the two additional addresses are based on the hostname of the machine.Let me explain: I use this command:Code:mail -s Testing email@somedomain.comI then compose the e-mail and send it. The mail arrive a few seconds later but addresed to the following:Code:from@hostname.domain.com;email@somedomain.com;hostname@hostname.domain.comThe "from@hostname.domain.com" has the actual word "from" in the address. I've installed many, many servers like this in the past and this is the first time that anything wonky with email has happened that I couldn't fix or explain. The machine is running postfix and I installed the bsd-mailx package to get the command line "mail" command (I used to install "mailx", but this seems to work just like the old package).

Jul 8, 2010I want to find a way to bring up the session menu without using the Indicator Applet Session in the default gnome panel. I've figured out how to do this for the main menu with a keyboard shortcut (Alt+F1). And I found Ubuntu documentation here that says Super+Esc will bring up the Sessions Menu in Lucid but it doesn't work for me. I could create a custom launcher if I knew what command would bring up this menu but I can't find any info on this. Basically I want to get rid of the default gnome panel but still have the functionality of the Sessions Menu.Note: I removed the Me Menu from my Indicator Applet Session by running sudo apt-get remove indicator-me in a terminal. Would this be interfering with the keyboard shortcut?

Oct 14, 2010just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

I loaded GRUB, and now when I reboot it goes straight into the 'grub>' command line. Initially GRUB had the root as (hd0,2), whereas the boot is on (hd0,1)...(hd0,2) is my '/home' partition, and (hd0,1) is my '/' partition... So on a bootup I ran...

Now when I boot I still get the 'grub>' command line, but now the root is correct.

GRUB will then show the menu, and I can click the listings to load them. All's fine, but why doesn't GRUB just load the menu.lst without my prompting? How can I automate this process of typing 'configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst' each time I boot?

Feb 20, 2010I can't seem to hide any items on the "Games" menu from "Main Menu" (System->Preferences->Main Menu). I can hide items on all of the other menus under the main one but the game links won't change. Is there another way to do this?
