View 2 Replies View Related[URL] The problem is that this font detector only works on Microsoft, and one of them also works on Mac OS What I mean is: is there a program where I can copy/paste any text or any word and it detects the font and tells me whether it's what I think it is or not? i.e. Times New Roman, Courier New, Ubuntu, Comic Sans MS...etc
If you're wondering what I need this for, well at the moment I just had an issue where I'm trying to do exactly what some Python tutorial is telling me to do but one of the letters ("l"). It's a small "L" and it's curvy at the bottom, but I just can't find it anywhere (Comic Sans MS has it but it's dark and bold). I either find strait vertical small "L"'s or small "L"'s that look similar to number 1 Obviously I would need this simple feature in the future and this isn't the only reason, because I gotta admit...it is pathetic if I only need it to copy exactly what a tutorial's font looks like.
using ubuntu and the corporate edition of open dns? >Im curious to find out how the anti malware filtering works in open dns works.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was checking out wine and installed ms office 2007 in it. But I ended up deciding (for the Windows programs that I needed to use, and the context in which I need them) to just install XP in a VirtualBox machine and use all my Windows programs there (not very many). So, I uninstalled wine and I did all of this that is recommended in the wine faq (to completely remove everything):
rm -rf $HOME/.wine
rm -f $HOME/.config/menus/applications-merged/wine*
rm -rf $HOME/.local/share/applications/wine
rm -f $HOME/.local/share/desktop-directories/wine*
rm -f $HOME/.local/share/icons/????_*.xpm
However, I now have an annoying issue. Microsoft office programs are the default opener of office documents. And since the programs no longer exist, this causes a problem. How can I remove the option to "Open With Microsoft Office ..." so that OpenOffice is the default?
When the custom animations added to my presentation exceeds an amount and i run the preview, my computer freezes. I have never had such problem with microsoft's office. I have open office 3.2 on ubuntu 10.04. my system has 4GB of of ram, core i5 430m cpu with integrated intel graphics. is this phenomenon natural? is it duo to my system limitations or it's an open office bug? what could i do now?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnybody know of any good, easy, open source alternatives to Microsoft WordArt?
I know I could use Inkscape or a 3D program to create word art, but the Word Art function in Microsoft Office is SO much more convenient.
Has anybody ever tried to create an open source alternative?
Does anyone know if there is an open source equivalent of a Microsoft Office journal that can be used with Fedora (11)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 10.10 and Open Office 3.2.1. I guess that this problem may affect Libre Office too, but I will be happy to be proved wrong about that. I am editing a document that was originally produced in Microsoft Word (the standard .doc format). It is a form produced by a national organisation and it has to be sent back to them, and when submitted it has to be no longer than two A4 pages. It contains a series of headings and (expanding) text boxes for content.
In order to be sure about the length, I did most of the editing with Microsoft Word on my wife's laptop. On that machine, and on a PC that has a different version of Word, the document fits exactly within the two-page limit. But on my laptop, using Open Office, it appears considerably longer, taking up two-and-a-half pages. Why is this, and can anything be done to correct it? Open Office appears to be using the same fonts as Microsoft Word - the font names are the same, anyway - and the font sizes are the same, yet the text appears to take up more of the page display.
I'm a freelance science editor; I edit dissertations and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals primarily. My clients almost exclusively use Microsoft Word. Any word processing tool that I use has to be compatible with MS Word, particularly "Track Changes" version control. Has OpenOffice (or another open source word processing software) achieved this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to open Microsoft .chm file with wine on Linux but when it opens its only the content tab on the left pane that the text gets displayed i.e. the table of content but the right pane where the content of the pages are meant to be displayed is blank. I'm running fedora 13 and I installed wine via yum.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been sent some file sI need to open but they are in .pub format. Having them sent in another format is not an option. I need to open them on Linux. Is there a tool which I can convert it into another format (preferably PDF) rather than having to mess around getting publisher installed on wine etc etc?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a issue with gwibber: the window doesn't open, but I can tell it's working because I can tweet via Me menu. Also, the "microblogging" arrow/checkbox is active in the messaging-menu.
The window opens without problems in my dad's session, so I guess that if I delete some config file in my /home it will get fixed. where are the gwibber config files? I couldn't find them =/
This is my terminal output when executing gwibber:

Why would a linux web server need chmlib(s)? I am reading about installing drupal on slackware and I came across: [URL] Can anyone elaborate on this explainatioin: "chmlib is a library file needed to view Microsoft ITSS or CHM format files. You need to install chmlib first before installing xchm to view chm files in kde. Here is a guide on how to build chmlib for Slackware Linux and install the result package." Is this to make webpages more universal? Or are these libraries just to view some type of MS files in Kde? What type of files are these libraries for? I don't use kde. Sorry found the answer to my questions: "chm is Compiled HTML Help which is not a strange file format nowadays" The howto for KDE is here: [URL]
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the Fedora 13 Live USB on my Gateway MT6451 laptop. All the major things you want to work on a laptop with linux actually work! Even my Broadcom wireless card! But even though I can see wireless networks and connect to ones that are open with no problem, I can't actually connect to my Hidden WPA2 network. I put all the information in and it connects, shows a good signal, but doesn't acquire the correct IP. I have a 192.168.X.X address range on my network, but it shows a 10.X.X.X ip and no Gateway address.
If I can get this one thing working I will definitely be installing Fedora.
