Probably a stupid question. I want to install flashplayer- found the package on the adobe website- chosen the version (9.04+) and I then get the question 'Choose an application' - to open it with. What do I do now? This prompt simply takes me to file browser. Or is there an easier way to do it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Adobe Flashplayer 10. It seems to be incompatible with a countdown timer on a specific site. I use firefox and when I open the site firefox freezes , hangs for a while and then I get an Adobe flashplayer 10 error stating the script encountered a problem. This is how and know the problem is the adobe flash and I know it is with that countdown timer as it only started when that was added to the site. Obviously it is a compatibility problem as it doesn't hapen on my Windows pc.
My question is two parts: a. Is there another flash player I can try with Firefox and b. If yes How do I uninstall the Adobe Flashplayer and install the other one.
Ubuntu 10.04.1 64 bit with all latest automatic updates , browser is Firefox.
Can anyone tell me how I can find and download Adobe Flashplayer 10 on Ububtu 10.10?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Ububtu Linux 10.04. When I attempt to install the latest version of the Adobe flashplayer (10.0.45.2ubuntu1), the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) tries to remove flashplugin-nonfree and install flashplugin-installer. That fails with the message

So, then I attempted to reinstall flashplugin-nonfree package but the SPM does not allow me to either install or remove the broken flashplugin-nonfree package. I tried the same things using the Ubuntu Software Center (USC) with the same failure.

I have extracte the folder to Documents: Cd/ to the folder and run the ./configure command and get this message: No package 'pygtk-2.0' found
I have checked the install files and edited the lines which contain the above to now read pygtk -2.0 >=2.8 as 2.8 is the version of python I have installed. In package manager it only goes back to v2.2.
How I can get around this error?

Then, when I click the Dump File of where I archived the adobe flash player, it states "No Packages were given for installation".So Now it does not want to run itself on the kernel, but I also noticed that there is a "Adobe v10 Bug" right next to where the rpm package was archived. I wanted maverick since its stable but he never really asked. The whole thing was kinda a surprise), and Clementine only offers downloads for Ubuntu distros up to maverick. So. I need to adjust a Flash template, but things are going wrong with free trials of each, and I am concerned that if I buy the CDs that I may waste my money, as much as $600. Usually the first thing thing I do after a server install, I update, upgrade... then install Emacs to configure services. I can get to it from my other servers and PC's, have an internet connections from that server // so I know things should be okay...

Upgrading to 9.10 is not an option as we are planning to jump to 10.04 LTS in the next few months and I am unable (unwilling) to mess with a complete upgrade prior. Is it possible for me to upgrade to the newest version of python-support - or is this package OS version specific? Assuming it's possible, how might I go about the process of upgrading?

I cannot find an instance of Open Office I can download regardless of the version. I have no Open Office now. How can I find a version that will give me the entire package AND install?
