View 2 RepliesHow do you tell rhythmbox that podcasts already downloaded outside the program are in fact podcasts? Mine are mostly just mp3 files and it doesn't seem possible to drag and drop them into the podcast section but I also can't find anything in the song properties.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI switched to Ubuntu a couple weeks ago, and I like it very much. The only problem I've got is I can't subscribe to podcasts as I used to with iTunes. Is there a podcast client like iTunes for Windows?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using itunes on Windows to listen to different radio shows and I am interested if there is any application in openSUSE that can automatically read the link to the podcast as it is present on apple's page.I found a way to play the podcast thru Amarok but I had to convert somehow the link from apple to some xml that Amarok can understand. I'm thinking maybe if there is something more straightforward.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to say that miro is the best internet tv viewer i've ever used, hands down. But, ever since my upgrade to karmic, and then lucid, the videos i try to watch on miro lag a LOT.
So, is there anything out there that would make a good replacement? Or, better yet, is there a way that i can fix miro?
I was wondering whether there is an inbuilt logging system in UNIX?
I ran and installation and the program opened up automatically but I can't find the program executable.
If I could find a log then I could locate this file.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a ubuntu server running which acts as a firewall/dhcp router for sharing internet to all computers on the network. On the network i have my stationary computer (win7) and my laptop (macbook). The server has 3 nics installed.ETH2 for internet. ETH1 (192.168.1.2) for windows pc. ETH0 for macbook (192.168.2.2).I can share files no problems over the network. Between windows <-> server, macbook <-> server, windows <-> macbook. The problem i'm experiencing is that i can't seem to find either hostnames between windows and macbook. They connect to each other fine with the right ip addresses, but they can't seem to connect when using computer names.
On both the macbook and windows pc i can see the server and connect to it without using the ip adress. What can i do to make them see each other with their computer names? Is there anything i can install on the server and configure in order for it to work automatically? In osx you have a tab in the finder that says "shared" which shows the computers on the network and only my server pops up.The same in windows, i can only see the server but not the macbook. As said, it works perfectly fine if i use \192.168.2.2 (or smb://192.168.1.2 on the macbook) but i'd rather be able to connect via the computer names.Would also love if they could resolve automatically so when a friend connects to the network i'll see his computer name right from the start, without any re-configuration.
give me a script for copying all the files in a directory that are not directories to another directory. May be this could work:
Code:
FILE=(ls -l|grep ^-)
for i in $FILE
do
cp $i /destination/path/$FILE
done
I am looking for a copy of 11.04 desktop beta1 amd64 to download. This is running on an x120e. Beta1 installs and works but freezes every few hours. Beta2 almost fully installs but pops up with a friendly error that says "installation has failed" with not much helpful in the syslogs. 11.04 Final kernel panics half way through installation.
At this point, I've tried almost everything, so I'm just trying to get back on Beta1 to get stable because this is my work computer. There are a lot of links on google, but every single one went dead as soon as final was released. After that, I will work on trying to get 11.04 final installed properly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having troubles getting used to the new Ubuntu UI - Unity. One thing that bugs me is that I don't know how to find a program if I don't know the program's name. For example I remember I have an IRC client but I don't remember its name and its name does not contain IRC. Before I had Unity, programs were organised in categories, so to find the irc I just looked in the Internet category. The same happened to me with the writer program and others..Can anyone tell me how I can find a program by its category? I was surprised that I could not many complaints like mine on the web. I don't want to give up and go back to the old gnome cause I figure that there is just a learning curve to pass and beside there are some feature in it that I like.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes I need to copy a huge directory to another directory (local filesystem), and usually I will use the "cp" or "rsync" commands. These commands are good, but depending on the size of the data being copied, the copy is painfully slow. I realize we are limited because of the hardware we have with it's limitations, ie, I/O speed, and the filesystem (which is usually ext3). Are there any other utilities that maybe not well known, but can handle copying large amounts of data? (mostly in the TB range)

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a program in the repositories for physics? I don't mean a program that makes graphs etc. I just want a program such as the one I'm attaching but much more effective and that does more than just a spring on an inclined plane. I want torque, rotational motion, kinematics, pulleys and a system with two objects instead of one only etc in the program. If it doesn't exist, I'll make it myself but I will have the knowledge in probably close to a year from now so I unfortunately cannot do it yet.
Basically (like what I attached - except that it's not so great) is something that I can visually test my homework with. If there are programs for other aspects of physics that do the same thing such as for waves or optics etc, I'd like to have those too but my priority is mechanics right now.
whenever i plug in my xbox i can't hear it but i can see it so i have to change to windows i have no problem with that. But my question is Is there any "APP" or program that lets you change OS with one click instead of restarting the computer? I know the xbox sound problem does not belongs here its just that i wanted to throw/point this out here in case anyone knows what may cause this, and the reason why i want that "1 click change OS"

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a program to help me store, organise and retrieve information. The aim would be to keep notes from literature, concepts and ideas which i come across during my studies. It's always a hassle to retrieve this information when i have to write a paper for instance. So in fact what i need is a sort of wikipedia-like program where information is searchable and where perhaps hyperlinks could lead me from one word/note to another.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYes I know there was so many themes created about broadcasting shoutcast radio, but I wasn't got information where program work good. I have tried IDJC, but not work. I need the program that I just install it and works. Program should have 2 audio players (1 is good too) and microphone "player" for talking (key OFF/ON).
P.S.: My PC runs Ubuntu 10.04
I'm wondering if there exists software that serves the same kind of function as Tasker or Locale for Android except for Linux. I think it would be really great to be able to have certain things run automatically based on a set of conditions. For example, I would like to automatically sync my mp3s to my laptop from my home computer when my laptop connects to my home network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am just looking for a simple program, nothing overly complex with crazy features. Just something that pops up above any browser/window and remains that way until you click it or something. The pop up would occur periodically or at sometime each day. It would say something like "TAKE A BREAK FROM COMPUTER" lol and other things. not suppose to be some full reminder program like a calendar.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat would be the best way to automatically copy all of the data off of a library of cds to a specific folder on the computer? I was thinking of running a bash script but I've run into a few snags figuring out the correct way to do it. Mainly due to the fact that the cd drive is mounted in a different folder in /media each time I insert a new diskAlso, the mounting and unmounting process causes it's own problems, but I think that could be covered by a for loop that checks /mtab every few seconds or so.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any other program that will work with the taskbar applet other than gwibber? I tried using it, but the interface seems really vague to me and drives me nuts. At the same time, the taskbar applet (showing up under the mail icon), makes it much more integrated than just installing a random standalone application.
