I would like to know how to make an Animated Desktop . I have seen 2 videos on you tube..but were not clear on how it is exactly done. I would like to know the correct way.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter searching for about 3 hours i finally decided to ask on forums. Is it even possible to use an Flv video file downloaded (very short) off you-tube as an animated desktop wall paper. I was trying to get it to work with xwinwrap but when i go to set the screen saver i want to play as the wall paper i am not able to see the video file i want, it just shows the default screen savers. I was wondering if what i am attempting is possible. Also if it is, how might i go about this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with the alternate character panel app and made a custom character set. I then wanted to put it on a new panel and created a new panel. I moved the character set to that panel, and then started to mess around with the panel settings (auto hide, show hide buttons, and expand, to be specific.) So far so good, until I moved the panel from the right side of the screen to the top. I already had a panel here, and it seemed not to like hiding a panel when there was already one on the top.
When the new panel hid itself, all my panels stopped responding (any clicks on them did nothing) and my processor started going at 100%. I tried a reboot and the only thing that changed is that now I can't even see my panels. I'm guessing I need to change the settings back manually through the prompt, but I don't know how to do that. I am using 10.04 and have not upgraded gnome since upgrading to 10.04.
but I would like to download to my W'7 desktop. I click on the download button [URL]and it says download started, but I am never prompted with the window to choose the directory to go to and then start the download.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to figure out how to turn an animated GIF to a FLV.
I figured out how to turn an AVI to a FLV, but can't even figure out how to turn an animated GIF into an AVI so that I could convert it to a FLV.
I been trying, and failing, using ffmpeg.
I'm copying an animated TV series from DVD to my computer. The DVDs are encoded at 29.970fps, which I find strange because animation usually uses 23.976fps. Anyway, what I have done is de-interlaced and re-encoded it to H.264. Now it is set to 59.970fps, which I think is higher than what I want. I'm seeking advice on whether I should leave it at that or change it to one of the lower frame rates. Another question: Do you think that I should be encoding to H.263 instead? This is just to have copies of the videos on my hard drive.
Note: I used Avidemux with the Yadif filter using the bob method to de-interlace the film. I think the bob method preserves the actual 60 fields and converts them into complete frames. I'm guessing that the temporal spatial check would halve the frames and give me the 29.970fps.
I was looking to install a high res animated Sun in Celestia (1 of the kids is doing a school project on the Sun), but it requires 1.6 or better. I'm running Karmic which is stuck at version 1.5. I've done a search on the net (getdeb etc) but there doesn't seem to be a deb for V1.6 anywhere. Anyone know of a "howto" install??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for the MD5 checksum page for 11.04 64bit, both the alternate download version and the desktop download version and found it, but that site seems to be down right now. I also got the feeling that that website was for the daily build and may not have the MD5 checksum for the release version. What the MD5 checksum is for Ubuntu 11.04 64bit: alternate download and desktop versions.

I didn't search for a Microsoft alternative that maybe could run with WINE, because I really prefer a native one; also a java version will be fine.
I'd like to create an animated infographic in the style of this one:[URL]...using Ubuntu Linux (10.10 Maverick). One approach I considered was to create an animation using LibreOffice Impress, capture the video using recordmydesktop, and merge the audio using oggz-tools. But that feels like something of a hack.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a copy of 11.04 desktop beta1 amd64 to download. This is running on an x120e. Beta1 installs and works but freezes every few hours. Beta2 almost fully installs but pops up with a friendly error that says "installation has failed" with not much helpful in the syslogs. 11.04 Final kernel panics half way through installation.
At this point, I've tried almost everything, so I'm just trying to get back on Beta1 to get stable because this is my work computer. There are a lot of links on google, but every single one went dead as soon as final was released. After that, I will work on trying to get 11.04 final installed properly.
I am getting this error when I try making an animated title.

If I go

I get
