From this link a video is present.Usually I see videos from any other website in /tmp but the same did not applied to video on the link I posted. Where can the video but present in the ubuntu directory structure while watching the web page firefox.

I know these are fairly elementary questions, but school starts for me tomorrow and I don't have a lot of time to mess with a lengthy search. I just plan to update my BIOS, and if that doesn't solve my hardware issues I will create an xorg.conf file and force my machine to use a decent setting. I've been having researching this thoroughly and have a firm understanding of what's going on, but I'll be damned if I can't remember these basic commands.

I'm trying to get the screen graphics working correctly on a newly purchased ACER Aspire 7740G laptop. It has a 17.3" 16:9 screen with an ATI Radeon Mobility HD5470 512MB graphics card.
The command LSPCI in Terminal gives.....
"02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 68e0"
I've also uploaded /var/ log/ xorg.0.log.
In System/Preferences/Display the pink coloured monitor screen has 'UNKNOWN' displayed on it with only 3 resolutions available.
I installed the ATI Catalyst Control centre but when it initialises, it produces an error saying that there is no driver installed - I thought the XORG log shows that the driver is installed.
The command ATICONFIG in Terminal reports.........
"aticonfig: No supported adapters detected" !
I been struggling with this since Karmic and I know others have as well. This is really the only thing making me keep a Windows install around for my personal stuff.
Problem: Convert .TS files to iPod or really any smaller format keeping A/V sync after edit. I can covert my .TS file perfectly if I do not edit it but I want to just do a simple, quick trim of 2 mins from beginning and end.
HandBrake with convert the file perfectly but cannot trim. Avidemux does a great job on the video but I always have to play with the audio shift to get it in sync. It is usually betwenn -250ms to -1000ms off but I cannot count on it. If I run the video through DGIndex in Wine or view it with Mediainfo both programs detect the an offset problem but they are always wrong by almost 500ms and it is never constant.
Regular video editing I have pretty good luck with my normal DV files and I could even run the .TS files through other programs but it is too time consuming to be useful form this simple task. Anytime I want to take my recorded TV .TS files I cannot edit them quickly without making a full project out of it in Openshot Cinelerra, etc.
Has anyone found a quick, reliable way to do some lite video trimming in Ubuntu and keep A/V sync without having to resort to any Windows programs?
EDIT: Also I really do not want to resort to have to demux separately either. I know I am asking a lot but I got spoiled with a couple of Windows programs that will edit without reencode programs like VideoReDo can do the editing and converting all at once (for $100 !).

I was trying to find a shell script that will encode video to a an iso that I can burn for a dvd. It seems I have lost a few of my dvds and I backed them up into mkv and I need to convert it to pal so it will work until I find them. My search was leading to other formats, but I was wanting to use pal because it is smaller. My search lead me here, but this shell script is not in pal.I need a solution that would work with slackware.

I just installed Ubuntu on my brand new system that I built. I put in my cd for my HD 5770 video card, and an icon shows up on my screen XFX_VGA_V9.8C text under it.
However when I try to access it in anyway, I try to open with autorun prompt, I get a message "This medium contains software intended to be automatically started. would you like to run it?"
I click on run and get "Error autorunning software, cannot find the autorun program."
Is there anyway that I can run this disk. It's important for setup. I cant copy the disk to the desktop, I get errors.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I play large HD videos in mplayer, the video and sound frequently get out of sync, and the video plays a little strangely (occasionally speeding up and occasionally slowing down).
I think it's because mplayer is only running on a single core. As I've got a quad-core processor, it seems inefficient. I've seen that there is theoretically a way to get mplayer to work with multicore setups, but it requires compiling with different options. That'd take me a little while to work through.
Ideally there would be a pre-compiled version in the software centre, or a player which has support built in (again, ideally in the software centre). Is there such a thing available?
is this possible? Or does one have to use the binary blobs?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I take out the existing video card and put in another one of a different type (but not a different brand), how does Ubuntu behave? I know what Windows typically does. Windows starts up the screen using a default video driver which is at least 1024 by 768 and then asks you what this new bit of hardware is and asks where the drivers are. I'm pretty sure Ubuntu has default drivers of its own, but I don't know what their resolution is.

The way to fix it would be to separate the audio and video streams, speed up the video (the audio is FINE, it's the video that's wrong), and then recombining them. I pulled out a dying AGP card to try and switch to onboard video, and I think the previous configuration is gumming up the works.I've been running this system for quite a while, as you'll be able to tell from the version numbers.Would like to avoid having to transport my Amarok databases to a new server. View 8 Replies View Relatedthis happens with both VLC and Totem, when in either of those programs playing a video, if I click on one of the top menus, say View in Totem, the video stays on top of the drop down options. In order to see the options I have to hover over them with the mouse at which point they become momentarily visible. I read a post somewhere where someone had a similar problem and it was solved by reinstalling Compiz, but I've tried uninstalling it entirely, reinstalling it, etc. and none of it works. It doesn't happen with flash videos in firefox, it does happen with visualisations in Totem, and it only started happening since I upgraded to 11.04.
