Ubuntu :: Collect2: Ld Returned 1 Exit Status
Jan 26, 2011
I'm getting the following output when trying to compile my cpp project:
Code:
"/usr/bin/make" -f nbproject/Makefile-Debug.mk QMAKE= SUBPROJECTS= .build-conf
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/walther/NetBeansProjects/CppPlay'
"/usr/bin/make" -f nbproject/Makefile-Debug.mk dist/Debug/GNU-Linux-x86/cppplay
[Code].....
I've seen you guys replying to others about this collect2 error, but all of them had some kind of informative message from the compiler.

I have been having the worst time trying to get sametime messenger from IBM to install properly. I had it working fine for the last 6 months and yesterday I accidently updated and it all went to {1134}. I seem to have found dkms to be the source of the problem.
I get an exit 0 regardless of whether or not its install or uninstall. I have managed to get pidgin to work for now, but it is no means ideal for my purposes.
I kept getting this...
rastlosen@rastlosen-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install sametime-connect
[sudo] password for rastlosen:

I have had no problems with downloading/installing updates and programs, and everything worked fine. Until memtest came along. It ran by itself (I think my dad made it the first boot option in grub), and now if I try to install any packages or programs, it will either say "Grub installation failed" or that any packages I tried to install failed. If I removed memtest, would that make it possible for me to install stuff again? Or is there a way to work around it?the main error report I get is: "E: memtest86+: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 127"

From the Synaptic Package Manager, I searched for HL-1440. There were two files appeared: (1) brother-lpr-drivers-laser1, and (2) brother-cups-wrapper-laser1. When I marked (1) for installation, (2) was automatically selected. After I applied the files for installation, I received this error: "E: hl1440lpr: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 126." What should I do? I am still learning Linux/Ubuntu and really don't have much experience with this.

Everytime I attempt to install anything, in any way, I'm given the following error message:
E: lib32nss-mdns: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: wine1.2: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
I went into Synaptics Package Manager and told it to uninstall WINE in case that was what was causing the problems. It sort of half-uninstalled-it then gave me that exact same error message.I have two threads currently open on the forums - adjusting laptop brightness and flashing BIOS - and both problems hit a brick wall because of this same error message.

I am trying to install Matlab v. 7.10 on my Ubuntu machine. I was able to successfully download the necessary files. However, when I attempt to install using ' ./install ', I get the following error message:
Finished extracting ftp files.
Starting installer ...
An error status was returned by the program 'xsetup', the X Window System version of 'install'.
The following essages were written to standard error:
/home/user1/mathworks_downloads/update/install/main.sh: 178: /home/user1/mathworks_downloads/update/bin/glnxa64/xsetup: not found
Attempt to fix the problem and try again. If X is not available or 'xsetup' cannot be made to work then try the terminal version of 'install' using the command:
install* -t or INSTALL* -t
Sorry! Setup aborted . . .
I tried using the command instal* -t, as recommended by the program, but then I get this error message:

I'm working on a friend's Samsung R530, Intel Core i3 3330M (T430) processor. It had Windows 7 installed, which crashed so I'm trying to recover the files before installing Ubuntu (the recovery partition is gone, there was no facility for making recovery disks and Samsung won't send any out). I put in the Live CD for 10.04 which took ages to load and then gave me the following error message:
udevd (90): worker (181) unexpectedly returned with status 0x0100
udevd (90): worker [180] failed while handling '/devices/pci 0000:00/0000:00:00:00'
which was repeated for [182] and [230] then it all went blank for ages then I got a message saying eject the cd and press enter, just like you do at the end of an install. However, I didn't get an option on whether to boot from the cd or install ubuntu. anyone got any clue what the error message means? and am I correct in thinking that the cd tried to install ubuntu? I've tried 3 different live cds, all of which have previously worked on other machines so I'm pretty sure it's not a cd issue.
But I can't get a single one of them to boot from cd and all throw up the same error messages, except the 9.04 cd, which just hangs. Have also tried a USB live image and got a disk error message. When I try booting from the HDD I get OS not found, boot from cd. Which is not entirely unexpected because of the previous problem with windows but it also seems that Ubuntu hasn't actually installed, or if it has then there's been a problem and it hasn't done it properly.

I am running a command pretty similar to the one below:
Code:
I need to capture the exit status of that part of the command.
What I am trying to do is set a variable that can be modified within my_job.sh, and used to exit.
However, no matter what I set "status" to in my_job.sh, it exits with "0".
What can I do differently?
