Ubuntu :: Chromium Application Shortcuts In Unity - Not Including Most Of Chromium's Toolbars
May 2, 2011I often use the option in Chromium to create 'application shortcuts'. These are instances of Chromium that make a website look more like an app by not including most of Chromium's toolbars. I use it for gmail and google docs and spreadsheets and calendar. In 11.04 I have set up Desktop launchers and copied them across to the Launcher (what an odd way to add something to the launcher, why no right-click 'add launcher' option?)
The problem is that the launcher thinks all these apps are chromium (which they are really, but I would like them to be seen as separate apps). If I minimize my gmail window, a little triangle appears next to the chromium icon, not the gmail icon. To get the window back, I have to click on the Chromium icon. Clicking on the gmail icon launches a new instance of it (also tied to the Chromium icon).

Dec 2, 2010if i run chromium with --enable-gpu-rendering flag chromium's display looks like it's shattered into thousands of pieces and I can't understand a thing. This doesn't happens if I have a previous instance of chromium opened in the usual way, without any flag. In this case if I open another chromium window with the --enable-gpu-rendering flag it's display looks ok, but I can't figure out what's the problem and how could this be fixed if there's solution for it of course.

Oct 22, 2010I made a shortcut with chromium browser to listen.grooveshark.com. This is great as it's almost like the grooveshark VIP desktop application like this. However AWN dock groups it with other chromium windows like this:Kuvakaappaus.jpg
Is it possible to force AWN to group this specific chromium window under the Grooveshark launcher that I have in the dock? Turning off grouping does not solve this either, as it just shows grooveshark as another chromium window.

Jan 8, 2010I have a strange problem on firefox. Homepage doesn't appear when I start firefox and bookmarks are missing. The strange part is that if I run firefox as superuser everything works fine.

Mar 14, 2010I'm a bit confused but not surprised by this problem I'm having. I liked the look of the FoxTab addon for Firefox (Swiftfox actually but I don't think it should make any difference) mostly for homepage thing it has which is similar to the Chrome/Safari opening page.

Apr 28, 2011I'm using Firefox on 10.10. I haven't installed crazy stuff on my machine as far i can recall (i used the repositories, except for gtk+3) and i didn't go to any weird website either, same traffic as usual. The only weird thing was that my internet connection was abnormally slow this morning.
Today though some "http://www.browsersearch.org/" imposes itself on my browser even though my homepage is set to www.google.com. I can't figure how this happens nor how i can get rid of it.
Can anyone help me trace this?

May 18, 2011I started using 11.04 awhile ago, and switched from Unity to Classic because I didn't like switching from the mouse to the keyboard that frequently to open applications. I noticed that Firefox had stopped using the setting of opening my homepage when I started Firefox and have been trying to figure out why. It turns out yesterday I think I figured it out. There is an add-on for Unity Menus installed, once I disabled that the behavior returned to normal. Hopefully, someone else here will find that useful.

Ubuntu :: Forum Homepage Freezes Past Community Cafe Link?
Jun 25, 2010Ubuntu forum home page will lock up, just for several seconds once I scroll past the community cafe link. Then the page will free up, it is just annoying to have to wait 5-10 seconds for the page to free up.
I am running 64 bit ubuntu 10.04 and my browser is google chrome.
Does this happened to anyone else? Any advice on a corrections, this seems weird enough to not have a fix
FYI, does not freeze on firefox.

Jan 6, 2016This began after I deleted my gnome configuration files. I logged out, logged back in, and Firefox and Icedove autostarted like they are supposed to. Firefox asked me if I wanted it to be the default browser, (which it was before), and I indicated yes. Now, whenever I click links in Icedove, a new Firefox window (rather than a new tab) opens and loads my homepage instead of the correct website. I've tried changing my default browser and then changing it back with xfce settings; Icedove opens links in Firefox regardless of the default browser setting. I've tried various changes to the setting
/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http (and https) with gconf-editor:
/opt/firefox/firefox-bin %s (this was the setting when I first opened gconf-editor)
/opt/firefox/firefox-bin "%s"
/opt/firefox/firefox-bin "%u"
/opt/firefox/firefox-bin "%U"
None had any effect.I know that the urls in my e-mails are not the problem because the correct site loads when I copy and paste them.
Slackware :: Firefox Hangs After Update - Better Shutdown At Homepage
Jun 15, 201012.2 is up to date and am running the Firefox from Slackbuilds. There was an update to FF a few months ago. Since then FF "hangs" when I close it out. It does seem to shut down better from the home page instead of whatever site I happen to be on at the time of shutting down. I do have a few addons to FF but they were there before the update with no issues. The addons are Gmarks [disabled], Rankchecker, Scribefire, SEO for FF [disabled], SEO Toolbar, Weatherbug and Web Developer. I haven't done any "fixes" so I'm fairly certain I didn't create my own problem.

May 20, 2011In addition to 2 "desktop" machines, I recently set up an Ubuntu Server with Apache2, but when I try to access my www.homepage from a machine locally connected to the same router (via both wired & wireless interfaces), I am directed to the Login page of the router, not to the www.homepage. Yet, when I access the www.homepage from elsewhere, my www.homepage is accessible.
I can browse to my www.homepage by entering the local IP address into browsers on both local machines, so I know the machines are talking to each other. Just not letting me get in via normal internet browsing channels.
Server: Ubuntu 11.04
Webserver: Apache2
Router: D-Link DIR-615
IP Address of: 192.168.0.110 (reserved on router, static on server)

Jan 8, 2011i did some looking online and read that chrome/chromium will tell you if an update is available by showing a small orange dot by the settings wrench. i have never seen one. but it seems that (as far as i was able to figure out) i do have the latest version (8.0.552). i do remember seeing chromium having been updated through the Ubuntu update manger, but all i remember seeing are security fixes, not updates (although i might not have seen them). i also read that chrome/chromium has a 6 week release cycle. Its been awhile since ive seen chromium updated (unless update manger is doing it and not telling me). is there a newer version of chromium? or am i just too observant/impatient?

Apr 26, 2010I uninstalled Chromium including config files through synaptic, but then after doing a file search, I found lots of Chromium and Chrome files laying around. So then I used that search list to delete them, but I believe there are still Chromium/Chrome files somewhere on my Ubuntu 9.10.To regress a bit and for a little background on this problem, I wanted to uninstall Chromium because I want to see if I can correct this problem that I have with the browsing history file. I want the browse history feature to work and it doesn't - the archive has all of the activity from only one day in history, 8 Apr 2010, and when I try to delete that day of history, it says that is has been deleted, but it is still there, and it won't record any of my browse history.
So I thought if I could do a clean install from scratch, maybe I could get the history feature back.Anybody know where I can find the file containing the history files and/or tell me how to clean reinstall of Chromium?

Sep 22, 2010I would like to report my experience while using UNR 10.04.
Everytime I connect my Nokia handphone either as a mass storage mode (for transfering video/image) OR using my handphone as a 3.5G Modem.
While connected or even after I finished connecting my handphone for the above purposes, when I close down Chromium browser, the whole OS will freeze!! Neither keyboard or mouse would work. This thing does not happened if I'm using Firefox for browsing internet.
I have to do a hard restart to use my netbook again.

UNR 10.04: with updated software packages

Oct 8, 2010Not sure what's happened here, I can only put it down to one of the daily updates.Chromium has stopped running, it starts, flashes on the screen and shuts down. I haven't done or changed anything as far as I know.I've unistalled it completely using Synaptic and reinstalled but no go.
