Ubuntu :: Can't Because "The Action Would Require The Installation Of Packages From Not Authenticated Sources"
Dec 12, 2010
Every time I try downloading anything with the software center, it tells me I can't because "The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources." I can still download via synaptic, but it still warns me that nothing is authenticated.
try to install something via software center or update it gives me this errorCode:Requires installation of untrusted packagesThe action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.
when I try to install anything using the Ubuntu software centre, I get the following message Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.
I am new user of Ubuntu and I am using 10.10 version. I have problem with the Ubuntu Software Center whenever I download the software it gives the error (Require installation of untrusted packages. The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources...) The written in Brackets is the error..
Whenever I do sudo apt-get or use the Ubuntu Software Center, I can't download anything because a message comes up saying "Action requires installation of untrusted packages: The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources." I've been trying to download GIMP and Thunderbird, so... I dunno what the problem is.
when i try to download python 2.6 idle it gives me: Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources. the in details it says: blt idle-python2.6 python-tk
Whenever I attempt to install a new application is sends me a message saying: The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources. I uninstalled the alarm clock app and tried to reinstall to try and download a program I knew worked and received the same message. Update Manager works, but gave me a similar message but I was still able to download. My more tech savvy friend had used this box previously while we tried to set up a server back in the States so I am unsure what if any changes had been made to my connection, and he has been unavailable for me to ask.
I would like to know if it is possible to disable apt-get's on a few packages I have compiled from sources : I have removed some ext from PHP and I don't want it to upgrade itself to a new version when there is one.
I've got the following problem: I just noticed that there were just very few notifications about updating the system (usually there are damn many of them in a week) So I opened the update manager and clicked on "refresh list". The following result popped up: p,li{white-space:pre-wrap;}E: Error http://ppa.launchpad.net natty/main/Sources Sources 404 Not Found First I thought, it would be just some kind of server problem, but it didn't stop. The next thing was to research the thread and I even found something. However, the solution suggested didn't work at all. (Things, which might have caused this: I installed the default software center |I'm using Kubuntu, but in this case that fact doesn't matter| and used it. To sum up:
- not able to update the system referring to the launchpad main sources for 11.04 - following error: E: Error http://ppa.launchpad.net natty/main/Sources Sources 404 Not Found It would be great if this was a common issue and I've been simply too stupid to find a proper solution. So you could just post the link.
I am running Jolicloud on my netbook (which I believe is an Ubuntu derivative) and I am tried to enter the getdeb.net sources in so I can install apps from the website through APT but
1) When I entered the sources into sources.list and then the key into Terminal and then went to the site and tried to install an app it didn't work.
2) I deleted the line of code in the sources.list file and when I opened terminal and entered "sudo apt-get update" it showed the list of sources, but on the list were Getdeb.net sources.
My question is how do I delete sources that aren't in /etc/apt/sources.list ?
When I run "sudo apt-get update", it says the following: "W: Duplicate sources.list entry [URL] Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_b inary-i386_Packages) W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems"
Herewith I've attached my sources.list file. # deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 10.04 LTS _Lucid Lynx_ - Release i386 (20100429)]/ lucid main restricted # See [URL] for how to upgrade to newer versions of the distribution. deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 9.10 _Karmic Koala_ - Release i386 (20091028.5)]/ karmic main restricted deb [URL] lucid main restricted deb-src [URL] lucid main restricted .....
I have installed and configured Slackware 13.1 and it works perfectly. Now I'm going (actually forced) to downgrade kernel version down to 2.6.32. Is there any caveats? Do I need rebuild any other packages from sources?
Update Manager has a new version of debhelper available: 7.4.3~bop50~1This will replace my current 7.3.15ubuntu3All seems reasonable so far, so I click install. This is when I get the following message:
Code: Warning You are about to install software that can't be authenticated.
I wish to try the Anjuta IDE - I am running wheezy. Using Synaptic, libsvn1 is marked for installation, but produces a warning message that it is not authenticated.
I have seen other posts regarding this issue and would not want to be left with a broken system! I have also tried installing libsvn1 on its own and get the same message.
I would like to use an EFI loader, if it's easy to do, and doesn't require a whole other set of drivers.. My laptop has EFI, but I think the default 10.04 AMD64 install uses regular BIOS bootloader. The HD isn't GPT though as far as I know, it's MBR, as Gparted says it's MSDOS.. (but i do have an ext4 partition, the ntfs HP recovery partition, and a small HP tools EFI partitions, at the very end of the HD).. How do I install it, should I, is there a benefit (memory?)?
I am installing a simple software(Gnome-Do) from software center but it gives me an error....Require installation of untrusted package...? after that it stops installation...
After a hard drive failure I installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS in the secondary drive. The intention was to have keep the machine functional until I could reinstall XP and have a dual boot. I replaced the failing drive and reinstalled XP.
The main reason for keeping windows is for using Itunes and a ton of music on the Ipod. I can get into the Ubuntu using Super Grub2 and did try repairing Grub 2 with rescutux. I can of course use the super grub2 disk to boot into Ubuntu but would like to repair Grub2 so I have the choice at boot without the disk.
I use Ubuntu 10.04 (64bit) version, after I update system yesterday from 2.6.32-27-generic, suddenly my Nautilus freeze everytime I want to permanently delete files (SHIFT+DELETE).
Remove file to Trash will run OK, but when I empty trash, Nautilus will be freeze and I need to "Force Quit" it.
I was impressed to be asked on Fedora 10 if I want to upgrade to Fedora 11 but the first time I tried I had this error: Not enough space in /boot/upgrade to download install.img.
My boot partition is 99MB and AFAIK that is not unusual so I tried tidying up a bit, uninstalling all except 2 kernels, and now have about 80MB for whatever needs to be downloaded in /boot/upgrade. But I get the same error. I can fix this by using wired instead of wireless networking but I want to know for planning purposes (next time I create a boot partition) how much space is required?
$ ls -l /boot/upgrade total 21594 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18985802 2009-06-03 00:02 initrd.img -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3035056 2009-06-03 00:02 vmlinuz Should I delete these? It looks like they might be left over from last time but I assume preupgrade knows what is junk and what isn't.
I've tried to install FEdora 15 using the Fedora 15 DVD for i686 architecture. However, after the step where I chose the setup for GRUB boot options, I got this error: "Some of your repositories require network access but networking could not be setup" (or something similar). Then I only had the option to exit the installer, but after reboot there was no GRUB and I have no means even to boot back to Windows.
How to install Fedora without networking or is Fedora the only distro so messed up that this can't be done? I've tried the Live CD/USB version but that version has no C compiler to allow me to install networking drivers after install completes. Now I was told to try the full DVD, by the full DVD managed to mess up my computer completely.
I recently upgraded our ldap server to Ubuntu 10.04.1 (64-bit). In the past, I've been able to use smbldap-useradd to create new ldap and samba users but am having problems since the upgrade. For starters, /etc/smbldap-tools was empty, which caused smbldap-useradd to bomb out with configuration-related errors. After following some tips on how to create the config files, I've gotten as far as being able to run smbldap-useradd but am now getting this error:
Error: modifications require authentication at /usr/share/perl5/smbldap_tools.pm line 1187, <DATA> line 466.
I've got the correct credentials set up in /etc/smbldap-tools/smbldap_bind.conf. I can login and make changes just fine through phpldapadmin with the same credentials, but smbldap-useradd just doesn't want to work.
I am installing a hp officejet pro 8500 all in one printer to knoppix 6.0.1. install hangs saying i need to disable cd sources in etc/apt/source.list. How do i do this?
I recently upgraded from F13 to F14 using "preupgrade". This is the first time I've used preupgrade. So far, F14 is running OK. There are some leftovers from F13 and I'm wondering if this is correct.
Q1: There are 176 F13 packages remaining. [alfrugal@localhost Documents]$ rpm -qa | grep fc13 | wc -l 176 Is this OK? FWIW, after the upgrade, I ran "package-cleanup --orphans" as recommended by the "preupgrade" page on the Fedora Project wiki.
Q2: Also, my GRUB menu was correctly updated for F14, but it still contains the three entries it had for F13. Is it normal for the preupgrade process to require the user to clean up the obsolete entries from the GRUB menu?
How to add packages using X-Window's add/remove packages option in RHEL-5.3 as it shows only the currently installed package and and does not show any thing when we click the button "available packages" ?
