I have read many places about editing the xorg.conf file and have done so successfully under Ubuntu in the past. I have successfully installed VMware Tools and everything is working as expected except the side buttons on the mouse. I have no current xorg.conf file
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying out several newcomer browsers (using webkit) as alternatives to Firefox, which seems increasingly slow to me.Midori and Arora both allow the back button of my mouse to work, as does Firefox. However, Epiphany, which would be my first choice, does not, and I can't find any way whatsoever of configuring it to do so.I can't see why such a 'flagship' app should lack such an essential feature.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to install lFedora 10 from a live cd. I already finished the installation process. But when I reboot to finish the post installation information I can't click the forward button to continue because the screen resolution is to low on my LCD. I can't see the forward button to click in the lower right hand corner. I found out if I just hit the enter button I got through the "Welcome" and "License Information" part but when I get to the "Create User" part after I Confirm my password the pressing the enter button doesn't work. And of course I can't see the "Forward" button to click. Is there some way to go in text mode?

I'm installing Ubuntu 10.10 on my desktop and it seems I can't get past the "Who are you?" screen as I can't click the forward button
I've tried a number of times; installing from within live usb, without an Internet connection (Just to see if it helps) but all failed
EDIT: It was because my username had a capital letter in it.
I am new to Ubuntu and am attempting to do a clean install on my second pc. I'm semi computer illiterate, and I am stuck on the Who are you? page. It appears that I have all the fields filled in correctly, with checks next to them all and "Fair password" displayed. I have Log in automatically checked, and I have require my password to log in as well as encrypt my home folder unchecked. I was wondering if there had been problems with this or is there something that I am doing wrong with my installation? The forward button is not clickable for some reason
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using opera 10.10 built 4742 i686 version. My proble is when i change to other workspace and then go back to opera, sometime, it will have the typing problem (at search bar and address bar). Need to roll it up and then roll it down before can type again. I am using Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit with latest updated.
However, the opera (same version and get from the same source: [URL]) does not have the same problem on Linux Mint 8 (dual-boot with ubuntu 9.10). As i know Linux Mint 8 is based on ubuntu 9.10.
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my systems. In the file browser or any internet browser, if I click on back, forward or up, nothing happens. I stays on the current page/location. Even if goes back, sometimes, it again comes back automatically to current page/location. I can navigate using keyboard but not with mouse.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Sabayon Linux, and recently when through a major upgrade where a lot of packages were upgraded.
After the upgrade, when launching firefox, the back and forward icons are missing. The buttons are actually there, as I can still select an empty grey rectangle. I also checked and it's happening for all users on the system.
I was using the persona's theme, but I stopped using that (for performance reasons). I just disabled it, I haven't actually removed it.
I tried re-installing gnome-icon-theme package from a suggestion on another linuxquestions.org thread, but that didn't help.
It's not a big deal as I can still use the buttons, but curious if anyone has any insight into what I can do to get the icons back.
I can't install Ubuntu 10.10 (64-bits) because the Forward button is grayed out in the "Who are you?" box.
I tried installing with various options (with and w/o additional software and with and w/o online updating, manual and automatic partitioning, going back and forth, trying different ways to fill out the fields in the stuck "Who are you?" page etc.)
The most cynical is that at the bottom it says: "Ready when you are..." - which obviously isn't true - it should say: "I am utterly stuck...".

I have recently had problems a with Movie player. It seems to having trouble playing DVD's and video files. it has a tendency to stop/freeze and sometimes if I try move the progress bar or scroll back or forward it wil just instantly close the Movie Player. I'm wondering is there a way to check it for bugs or is there a more reliable/better quality player that I could get instead.
View 9 Replies View Relatedjust want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've installed 11.04 as an upgrade to 10.10. Now, the back/forward buttons in Firefox have no icons, which means they're hard to find, and they're also much thinner than usual. Also, the home button has disappeared and I can't put it back from the customize menu. I've reinstalled Firefox to no avail.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwondering if any other ppc users have had the issue whereby, after the first unsuccessful power down (or sometimes the second or third) of a fresh ubuntu 9.10 install, mouse button 3, which is normally mapped to F12, becomes function (fn) + F12.? This is really annoying as you now have to use two hands to activate the little drop down menu. So i tried remapping mouse button three to that strange little key beside the left arrow on an ibook keyboard that looks like a picnic table and which, under os x, renames stuff.
I ran "gksu gedit /etc/sysctl.d/10-arch-specific.conf" and edited it accordingly: mouse button 3 from keycode 88 to 104. It works, but i still have to press function to activate it and fn + F12 still works simultaneously (though it is no longer defined in the conf file), and my new key doesnt offer the same functionality (eg, it doesnt give spell check options in firefox where fn + F12 does). Arg. Anybody know how to make it so that i can activate mouse button three without having to press function?
I was using lucid since beta 2 without problems, but since few days I can't get a menu when I click on the right mouse button. Doesn't work on the desktop or when for example I want to rename a file using the right mouse button. Is this a bug from gnome or a new properties?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 'Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000'. In addition to the regular left/right click and scroll wheel it has an extra button on the side. In previous versions of Ubuntu I was able to remap this button to act as double-click using 'xbindkeys'. However, in Lucid this no longer seems to work. X seems to know about all of the buttons on the mouse since 'xinput' lists the device as having 13 buttons and labels button 8 as 'Button Side'. However, 'xev' does not show a button event when I press the button. Instead it shows:

While Login into ubuntu, open firefox for sometime, my left mouse button usually cannot work, while right button is OK and keyboard is also OK. Mouse pointer can be moved, however left click shows no reaction(when i move the mouse pointer to some certain icon, the icon can be highlighted just as usual but left click still shows no reaction).
I doubted this may be firefox's problem, but when I kill firefox-bin and firefox process through the terminal(keyboard is ok and i can use ALT+F2 to enter gnome-terminal), Left mouse button still cannot work. And then I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and reboot the system. My ubuntu is 10.10, updated several days ago(this problem has been existed before the update)
