Is there a way to set empathy check for gmail mails? I use a google talk account and it makes sense to me, that, if I am already logged into gmail, check the mail as well. Pidgin and gtalk have this option, but I can't find it in empathy. I know there are plenty of gmail notification apps, but I just don't see the point of having to install another app that logs into the same account to check the mails...
Option to play sound is checked (same option in gconf-editor is checked too). But there is no sound on new emails.Default notification file (notify.wav) is playing OK with other software.I even try to edit source code (python) of cGmail to disable check of option in gconf-editor. But still no sound.
I have been trying to configure the mailcheck in gkrellm to check and notify for new mail on my gmail account. I have activated pop of course...
These are the pop info taken from gmail:
Quote:
Server for incoming mail (IMAP) - needs SSL: imap.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 993 Server outgoing mail (SMTP) - needs TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use verification) Use verifiering: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes(some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587
I have recently configured the kmail to receive mails from gmail through the pop. I have followed the gmail's tutorial,[URl]I was able to send messages, but not to receive them.To say the true, I received just one mail and never more.
have plenty of experience in ubuntu and mandriva.I am looking for a way of sending emails from CLI via my gmail account.in ubuntu I use mailx+exim4. in mandriva i use msmtpbut in opensuse i cant install exim4, and the installation of msmtp has a completely different architecture and i cant find the configuration file i modified in my mandriva computer to send mails via gmail.Does anyone know of a simple and quick installation of some MTA in opensuse which can satisfy my need?
I've running my mails from 3 domains on Google Apps for several time, but I think it's time to set up my own Mail-Server now. I have a vServer and want to migrate my existing mails after setting it up. Now I have 2 questions.
1. Which components do I need / do you prefer for a mail-server(imap, smpt, webinterface)? 2. How do I get all my existing Mails in there?
In my gmail a/c I have severel folders.....each with different label.while I configured alpine, I give the path as directed in several know-how in internet and only INBOX is there, with sent mail and saved mails.....no other folders.

I've setup postfox on Fedora 13 in order to send emails to and from gmail. I thought this was working, but it is dropping approx 50% of mails with an error. The other 50% work OK. It seems completely random. I've read the link but I stil dont quite understand.
My machine is just a PC, on talktalk's network in the UK. I use dyndns to allocate a DNS alias (well several actually) to my dynamic IP address - not sure if this is relevent.
Is it failing due to a reverse DNS lookup on the dyndns host? Or is it because it cannot resolve my localhost.localdomain?
I used to have this running on opensuse and swear it used to work 100% of the time. What am I doing wrong?

I'm am successfully adding my gmail account to both empathy and pidgin (it shows up in green that i'm 'available' on my computer). However, I am unable to send or receive any messages. On empathy it just says there was a network error - unknown, and pidgin say there is an xmpp message error code 404.
I've been trying for months to get IM working with my gmail account.
The default chat client in Ubuntu 10.04, Empathy, doesn't seem to have any affect in what my actual gmail status displays - I can change the status to be available, busy, or away, and change the custom message to be absolutely anything, but when I log into my Gmail account the status isn't changed whatsoever like it would have it I was using Google Talk in Windows. Also, in the notifications area in the top right, the "Me Menu's" available and busy icons don't have any affect either. If I click the available, busy, or away icon in Empathy or the Me Menu, the respective other will change to be the same, so something's happening, but not on my Gmail account.
I'm using Google Chrome & Arch Linux x86.When I try to log in to my Gmail to check my Email I get this;Quote:The webpage at "A very long URL" might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.And when I click on 'more information about this error' I get this;
Code: Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): Unknown error. I've updated openssl and have both SSL 2.0 and 3.0 enabled in options and I still can't log in
am using qmail and have webmin, all is running smoothly, but i have users spamming other staff accounts. The question: How do I block a user from sending out mails but still able to receive mails. Just denying access to sending mails?if anyone can guide me to do it via terminal as well as webmin. Why webmin you ask, because I have tried it once it works but sadly it block both incoming and outgoing mails.
As a beginner I installed Fedora 11 yesterday. Everything went well until I installed Evolution and Thunderbird. Incoming mails went well, but outgoing mails not.
use any browser and go to gmail. i can't get gmail to load. if i browse on videos, links to videos don't work. they appear to be taking a long time to buffer, then a message appears saying to try again. sometimes, links on google search pages are all dead. yahoo mail loads as far as logging me in, then i get a page with all dead links.
i'm using a laptop at several locations that have free public wifi. at some places, everything works perfectly normally. at other places, google and yahoo are almost useless. the "bad" places work just fine under ms windows.
so i figure it's a networking/handshaking issue, but that's all i can figure. i need help to troubleshoot it further. if it's happening to me, it has to be happening to other people, and i consider it a major hassle.
My college internet providers shifted to a different setting.. defined in the changing lan proxy settings on the user end. I.e.ip - 192.168.0.200 and port to 3000. This to reduce misuse of the net connection ..The thing is, since then, every other website is working, except GMail. It isnt blocked, the Nebero page shows up for blocked sites. When attempting to open gmail, the default internet page shows up for unavailability of page owing to no or slow response from the server, or the firewall or proxy settings not appropriately configured. I cannot open gmail, the connection on empathy im. I cant ping gmail either. No response. What can be the problem.
My issue is that i'm trying to send emails with postfix and gmail as the mail relay,i'm trying to send emails to my self by sendmail -bv user@gmail.com
In the logs, i can understand that it been delivered to the destination, taken from: /var/log/mail.log: Apr 30 00:05:23 moni postfix/pickup[10490]: 9C7552170C: uid=0 from=<root> Apr 30 00:05:23 moni postfix/cleanup[10495]: 9C7552170C: message-id=<20110429210523.9C7552170C@moni.localdomain> Apr 30 00:05:23 moni postfix/qmgr[10491]: 9C7552170C: from=<root@moni.localdomain>, size=283, nrcpt=1 (queue active) code....
When login in my gmail account i can't see nothing under the sent / inbox / spam folder.
it's seems like the mail are been sent.. but nothing is happening.
I am new to Debian but not Linux-based systems. I have been experimenting a lot with Debian Lenny/Squeeze. I am growing more comfortable each day with the Debian design. Yet there remain many unexplored areas. I am creating a migration check list. Things to check, prepare, or reconfigure when moving from one Linux-based system to Debian.
I have a good computer background and my current check list probably is fairly good. Yet I would appreciate input and opinions from experienced Debian users of things to watch in such a migration. Login defs, passwd/group files, different directory locations, keymaps, services and daemons, etc. I am not too concerned with the desktop as I plan to stick with KDE 3.5 for a while and I can basically move those settings across.
I installed postfix + SASL on my ubuntu box, getting emails works 100%.Sending out emails does not work. i'm getting "554 5.7.1 - Relay access denied".
Installed ubuntu stupidly on the same partition as win7 couldn't boot anymore ubuntu is it possible to access my evolution e-mails or even better to make my laptop boot ubuntu again tried already various rescue cd-s etc
I created three pop accounts in evolution. For jka-walgau.at my name, office and mobile. The first time everything ran ok (all new mails could be downloaded, and from each account mails could be send). After a day (iIset the computer up for a friend) there arent no new mails that come in (webinterface tells me there are new ones). SSL for pop and TLS for smtp were set. The problem is they are selfsigned certificates. The first time when I configured the accounts and clicked the button to test the authentication methods I got a warning (self signed) no button to add this cert permanently only a OK buttton and in the upper corner the (x) to close. How should I handle this problem.
I searched in forums but I couldnt solve my problem. I copy my pst files of outlook on windows then I completely remove windows and set up ubuntu. I made all my configuration on thunderbird. I can send and recieve mails but I could not import my old mails from outlook to thunderbird.
using kubuntu 9.04 on AMD 64,working with ISPconfig panel.I have mail configured with Postfix. It works fine from the server (and of course through squirrelmail installed in it), but I cant send from other computers.
I have Postfix set up to forward e-mails to two different addresses. This is my /etc/postfix/virtual:
Code:
I'm forwarding the message back to myself because that's the only way I know if the original message is even getting delivered in the first place.
The problem is that the e-mail isn't making it into my GMail inbox. I've checked my spam folder and it isn't there. And bafflingly, according to the logs, the message does seem to be getting sent:
