Since the time I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04, following websites do not load in any browser:

These two sites are crucial for me, and I cant boot in back to Vista to just view these two sites.
Is anyone else too facing this issue?
I tested this even on ubuntu 10.10 on a laptop.
I have an ongoing problem in trying to get Audio and video streaming to work with any version of Ubuntu.
Definition of problem: Playing any of the past library of BBC programs either Audio or Video will lock Firefox. Clicking o play a live stream from radio or TV would lock Firefox.
Only resolution was to force quit: Often re-booting Ubuntu would enable the player to work. SOmetimes this needed 4 or 5 re-boots before it would play. Then for no apparent reason it would stop and the cycle would repeat.
I have chased down dozens of threads and tried countless solutuions none of which has worked.
I upgraded to Karmic with similar results. I use the iPlayer a lot, not for downloading just for online streaming and this is causing me untold frustration.
My last upgrade was to Lucid and finally I thought it was cracked as everything seemed to run fine. I run a very trim system with very few installed programs, but within the past few weeks the iPlayer has stopped working pretty much altogether. It will play live stream audio, so fine for listening to the radio as I work, but trying to play any library programs whether audio or video and I'm back to a locked Firefox. I really am at a total loss on where to go with this and I find myself booting more and more into Windows 7 just to be able to function the way I want.

View 1 Replies View RelatedStarting today I cannot log into [URL] on Linux. Whenever I try to login, it just takes forever and then either Chrome or Firefox tell me that perhaps the site no longer exists. It works perfectly fine on Windows. Strangely it also does not work on my Roku box and is working sporadically on my PS3. I would think it was my ISP or my router if it wasn't working perfectly fine on Windows.
I AM NOT TRYING TO WATCH NETFLIX ON LINUX. I know that doesn't work. I'm just trying to update my queue. I'm having this problem both on Fedora and Ubuntu (latest stable releases on both). I know it's not just loading from cache on my Windows machine because I'm going to pages that I have never been to and it's working just fine. Now, I have not tried signing out and in because then I'll be up a creak. OK, I installed another browser on my Windows computer and I'm able to sign into Netflix just fine. So it's not a sign-in issue.
WHY DOES THIS WORK ON WINDOWS? It's the same browsers - Chrome and Firefox on Linux and Windows and the same network.
ALSO, flickr is not working correctly - I cannot make any comments in the discussions (but can on photos which is ajax-y).
update: also checked a Linux computer using Linux Mint that hasn't been turned on in 2 months. I know it was able to access Netflix back then. Nothing has been changed - not even updates. It also cannot access Netflix. Either taking forever to load [URL] or when trying to login.
via looking in Konqueror, I saw it's trying to go [URL] and that's what makes it so that I cannot connect to [URL] if it considers me to be signed in. And here's what Konqueror said:

I'm running Fedora 12 x86_64 Gnome and my video card is an ATI Radeon HD 3650. I'm using the open source video driver.After updating the kernel to version 2.6.32.9-70, my LCD display has started being too bright, which makes it barely readable.The problem is still there after upgrading to kernel 2.6.32.10-90. I've even tried to boot a live USB of Fedora 13 Alpha (desktop-x86_64-20100404.17.iso - downloaded from here - which ships with kernel 2.6.33.1-19)
View 6 Replies View RelatedFedora-13 will not play sound. It's definitely a kernel issue and I am not the only one from what I read elsewhere. Prior to kernel 2.6.28 audio works on this Samsung Q1 Tablet PC. Any kernels from 2.6.28 onwards will not recognize my sound card and therefore won't play sound no matter what. I've proved it running different livecds (Suse, Mandriva, PCLOS, etc.) with kernels 2.6.25, 2.6.27, etc., all with audio. How can I use/import a suitable kernel for Fedora-13 so that it will recognize my sound card (driver snd-hda-intel) on this Q1?

I then turned to networks settting and put on no proxy, still nothing. So i downloaded another web broswer called epiphany, I am still not able to get on the websites that arent working on mozilla. On the other computers used in the house...all the websites work perfectly fine so its not the server.

Well i went to to download my favorite browser Opera and firefox just times out. I can get to other websites just fine so far. Though it looks like Office Depot won't let me in either. And websiteB needs to be constantly restarted, so both need to be on separate apache servers or instances.Virtual directories wont work cause I can only point websiteA to a directory /var/www/websiteA.Reverse proxy wont work cause I can only catch a sub directory.Proxy /websiteA/ URL...Does anyone know how I could get this to work in anyway.

The DNS in windows is my modem 192.168.1.1 but under linux for some strange reason this won't fly.For example ......com won't open on firefox, but ping and traceroute works just fine.

I'm able to open these sites from my mac using the same internet connection.
I'm also able to ping these websites from Ubuntu.
I've been an Ubuntu user since Jaunty, and i gotta say, i'm really impressed, especially with the great Karmic! However, ever since my first ubuntu installation, i've had a very awkward problem: My internet does not open any of the following websites:
Rapidshare
Megaupload
Urbandictionary
I don't know if there are other websites I wouldn't be able to access, but those are the main ones i use frequently, now here's what I tried so far (nothing worked):
1- Use a different browser (none of firefox, opera or konqueror worked)
2- Edit the etc/hosts file
3- add a line in the etc/hosts.allow file
It seems so stupid to have to power on a virtual machine to download a rapidshare file!
I just updated to Firefox 3.5.8. I experience constant crashes with some websites. Does anyone here have the same problem ? How can I go back to the previous version? System: Karmic Koala on a MacBook 2.1
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu x64 (dunno which version, but I don't think it matters) and I'm concerned about security with PHP.I remember using lighttpd and I had some mystic configuration and the secuirty was perfect for me - if one website gets hacked then the others are still safe (kinda).Now with apache2 if I enable safemode I'm still able to go outside web directory and actually I can go really far untill user/group matches.I tested the system with r57shell and I was able to mess up other websites.Is there a way to disallow access to other websites?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't think I changed anything in my system's configuration, but I wasn't able to access most of the websites. Some loaded perfectly, but for a vast majority of them, Firefox (And every other GUI browser - I tested Opera and Chromium) just showed me a never-ending loading screen. At first I thought it was my ISP, but on the same computer when I booted up Windows XP, everything worked fine.
I then booted Ubuntu back and tried pinging the nonaccesible domains - and they all work! Even weirded - for some of the domains the page's title gets loaded, and nothing more - even in something like 30 mins time. For some, I just get "Loading..." message. And some, as said earlier, work just fine. But I can ping all of them. I wanted to ask You about that issue, but ubuntuforums.org didn't even load. I then tried to use CLI browser links and it works just fine for all my sites and here I am, writing this topic from CLI mode in Terminal.

However, I have discovered that, when trying to take a screen shot of the entire web page, the lower part of the page is not captured. This happens on WordPress sites and, curiously, on Mozilla's own results pages. Other pages seem to be unaffected. However, on Chromium, it works perfectly.

I would also like to be able to password protect this if possible.So for instance, from 7am until 10pm daily, I can access URL... but after 10pm it redirects to 127.0.0.1 or something. And this configuration be protected by only allowing a certain user (other than root) to change the config?
