I have searched the nets on how to use Ubuntu icons in Fedora, and all I am able to find is: how to make your Ubuntu look like Fedora.
Basically all I want to do is use the Ubuntu-Mono-Dark icons in F14/15. Is this even possible?
yesterday I upgraded my Fedora installation via preupgrade from 11 to 12.Now there are some icons missing! If I go to the 'System' menu in the panel, there are no icons at all.If then I select the 'Settings' submenu, all of its icons are visible.I figured out that the package redhat-menus and fedora-icon-theme make up the representation of this icons and reinstalled them. Then I additionally executed 'gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders-64 > /etc/gtk-2.0/x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf.loaders' (I read this somewhere in the forum).
But nothing happend so far?!
I made further efforts trying to find out the icon of the System Configuration Menu (Syst -> Administration). The file '/usr/share/desktop-directories/SystemConfig.directory' contains the icon that should be displayed for the System->Administration menu. This file contains the line: Icon=preferences-system Good so far.I thought that selecting the gnome icon theme would fix this problem, but this also didn't help!Now I'm at the end of my knowledge (or I don't want to rename single icons to match the names required)...
I already restored regular icons by going to gconf. However, the icons on top right where the "power" button is located, still have no icons. Is there any way to add icons to the hibernate/ shut down , etc words?

I apparently am a bit slow... o.OIn gnome's icon selector just browse to the directory where the icon should be. You will not see any icons. Just click on the open button at the bottom. A new screen opens up and it shows the icons that you can select and use.

I've installed Kdenlive thru yum as my video editor, and everything works fine, except that there is no icons on any of the widgets in the application. And yes, I've checked that 'text alongside icons' is set in the menus. It's like the kde icons haven't been installed.Here's what is installed, from 'yum list *kde*':

I recently installed virtual box on debian and after it had finished my terminal informed me that I could remove some "unnecessary" software by use of sudo apt-get autoremove. When I did this, some of the icons on the desktop changed and all of the icons in the drop down menu on the bar at the top of the screen also changed to ordinary folder symbols. The theme that I was using also went away. I restarted the computer and it booted back into a shell prompt with no GUI. I tried to get back to the GUI using alt+f7 but it didn't seem to exist

Since everything is accessible from the menus, I would like to not have any icons on my desktop in Fedora 11. I have been playing around with the settings for days and can't find a way to make them disappear.
View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I installed a fresh copy of F12 and I noticed that I have no icons in any menu of any application - Desktop, Nautilus, Firefox, Pidgin, OpenOffice - nowhere.I only have them in the Main Gnome Menu and that's it.Does any body know what can cause this problem and how to fix it?BTW,I've been using Fedora starting from F6 and I can claim that F12 is indeed one of the most awful release that I've seen I used to successfully upgrade to each next major release up to F11, but F12 made me completely reinstall my OS, cause there were tones of bugs after the upgrade including not working WiFi

In Fedora Core 15 using Gnome 3, the font(s) used to label each icon on the desktop looks bad on my LCD monitor. It looks like small parts of the letters are missing. Can this font be improved?

Nearly evrithing was flawless, but when i copied my old home directory the images of some of the launchers i have on the desktop are invisible.I use kde 4 with the activity show folder running pointing to the desktop folder. The icons missing are windows programs installed with wine. I copied the icons from one installation to another. I also tried to manually set the icon copying it to a different location and modifying de .desktop.

I had a strange problem with a brand-new Dell Vostro 3550 laptop with clean a Fedora 15 x86-64 installation. I chose to download the boot image and install from the network. I selected packages for software development without customizing anything. The installation went on smoothly. Once I started using the system, I used yum to install several additional packages. Strangely the icons for these applications seem to be missing.Screenshot1 shows that both Thunderbird and Remmina (for remote desktop) icons shown generic icon.Screenshot2 shows the Default Applications tab in the System Info where Thunderbird does not have an icon.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 11 with KDE desktop. Yesterday I installed several updates, including a kernel update. Now the Shutdown and Restart icons have disappeared from the Leave menu, which only contains the icons for "Logout", "Lock", "Switch User", "Suspend to Ram" and "Suspend to Disk". I had "Shutdown" and "Restart" icons in my Favorites menu, but when selected they open a "Logout" dialogue.
I can Shutdown and Restart from the command line, but would like to restore the capability to do it from the icons. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?
I encountered a problem clicking icons at the bottom of programs.An example: I was in Firefox and went to use the 'find' bar at the bottom Firefox application window. However, I couldn't click on it.I could interact with it through keyboard commands, but not by using the mouse. Later that day I tried using Openoffice.org Writer and when I went to click on a toolbar at the bottom of the application window I couldn't choose any of the icons with the mouse... The odd thing is that this only occurs when the bottom of the window is at the lowest point on the screen.(note: I have Avant Window Navigator running, so it isn't literally the bottom of the screen, just the lowest point the window can go.)Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing the problem, or maybe how to fix it---------- Post added at 10:25 PM CDT ---------- Previous post was at 09:42 PM CDT ----I just figured out that AWN is causing the problem. Apparently it's regulating more area than it's supposed to. So it's cutting off interaction with the bottom of the window.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy icon displays at the bottom of the main pidgin window but but the icons for my contacts don't display any more. It used to display in the conversation window as well as on the themed menu button on the main window.
The disappearance happened on both Fed 13 and 14, both x86/64. I haven't checked the fed12 32 bit yet but I suspect recent updates are the culprit so I expect the Fed12 32bit to also be affected. (don't really use it much except as a "sacrificial" toy since it's due for obsoletion).
I expect a future update will fix it but I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem, and if it's a known issue, is there a current fix ?

I just updated Fed12 32bit and got the saame pidgin version as 14 and 13. The icons are still present. I guess it wasn't an update problem.
conky draws the root background for sudo transparency, not the desktop image, so solve by using real transparency, but this means any desktop icon blinks or just vanishes, what to do,looked around for a while. but no further along, anyone else had this problem, anyone else solved this problem?

Intermittently I loose the icons in the menus, they all go black.
I can see the pop-up message / text if I float my mouse where the icons should be, but do not see the icons.
This obviously makes it hard to use the menus =)
If I log out and back in the icons come back.
The icons do NOT come back if switch user or restart gnome (alt-F2 -> r).
