I am running and happy with unity 2D on Ubuntu 11.04. (Graphics card won't let me use full Unity or Gnome 3). On the left panel there is a files and folders button that when clicked shows the history of recently opened files. Is there a way to clear this? or am I stuck with it remembering everything that has been opened.

i was wondering if there was a way i could have the search index (or something vaguely equivalent) all the files on my machine. This is especially important given that i reinstall the OS every six months on a new distribution cycle, copying all my old files across.
Without being able to see my old files the search is pretty much reduced to a recent history search.
while using history command i can able to see only last twenty histroy commands.

There are several options like "All files", "Folders" etc. I would prefer to be able to search files /and/ folders at the same time (The unity label is after all "Files & Folders, not Files or Folders). Just moved to Ubuntu 11.04 with unity and only have one problem...For most of my desktop needs I prefer to have the Unity Launcher up all the time (fullscreen apps don't cover it), and have set this option with ccsm.
However, when I watch mythtv, it is also under the launcher (and the top panel as well). How can I force mythtv to cover the launcher?
What I really need is a keyboard shortcut to hide the launcher, but the only shortcut is for "show launcher". (I guess the devs assumed everyone would want it hidden by default).
This, by the way is not my usual way for viewing mythtv. I have a projector attached to the desktop PC and it doesn't get a Unity Launcher by default (in Twinview), so no probs. However, occasionally I want to watch something on my computer screen, and that is when this issue arises.

I use the friendly interactive shell, or fish, as my default shell. I find it much more user-friendly than bash, but lately (as in for the last 2 months, give or take)dding new entries to .config/fish/fish_history and .config/fish/fish_history.tmp. this means when I press up I don't get the last command I typed, but rather the last command from before the bug occurred. I have no idea why this could be and have tried several tricks but none of them have worked.
