I'm trying to set graphical settings like AA, AF and Vsync in Nvidia-settings however they don't stick, all I get is a error like this code...
and I have to manually reset them to desired values after every login. Is there a way to make them stick when logging in/out?
Is there a command similar to MS-DOS's 'attrib'?? to hide the file??

I have the driver installed but am unable to change the resolution in the Nvidia configuration X-Server. It seems it is limited to the following 640x480 and 320x200. fix this as it looks awful and I know that I should have greater resolutions.

In a previous version of UBUNTU I was able to enter a NVIDIA control panel to adjust my RGB settings. Now I'd like to change it slightly but there doesn't seem to be a NVIDIA control panel. There used to be two of them. After installing the video driver, If I tried to go into UBUNTU video settings I would get a console message stating I now need to use NVIDIA control panel and would automatically open it for me.

I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect.Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

View 14 Replies View RelatedUsing online Debian guide, installed latest nvidia-current, glx etc which seems to be 195.xx Machine boots to GUI but monitor setting menu doesnt respond nor is there an nvidia specific one. xorg.conf shows 'nvidia' driver but I suspect I am still on 'nouveau' since the synapatic package manager doesn't show an nvidia xserver-xorg-video choice.
Second question, any trailheads for using wheezy based drivers (i.e. nvidia's latest 270.xx) with squeeze?
I dismayed to find that Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.10 no longer allows a user to assign the Super key (Windows key/Mod4 key) to keyboard shortcuts.
There seem to have been a number of unfavourable changes to UNR 10.10, but this is the worst. Super key functioning is essential for launching applications for many users.
I am no longer able to use UNR and I must uninstall it today. I think this is a shame, because I have always wanted to support it.

My problem is that when i log in, the resolution isnt what i want. So i change it via the Nvidia x server settings, and press Save to x config file
Yet when i log in again, it defaults back to what it was before i changed it?
Iv looked all over the internet for the past 2 days and nothing seems to work.
I'm running dual-screen. On 24" at 1920x1080 and one 19" at 1440x900. After installing Mint 9 I can't set the resolution any higher than 640x480 in nvidia-settings. I've installed the "recommended" nvidia-driver that Mint suggests.

What could be the problem? Why can't I set the res higher than 640 in nvidia-settings? Everything worked in Mint 8 (10.04). During installation the res was higher than 640.

I have Fedora 10 with 2 nic's and have used the firewall tool, network manager, etc.,then disabled the firewall front end and wrote my own iptables rules but can not even enable eth1 to use it. Tried 2 different common cards (like a network everywhere 10/100) Service network restart says eth1 not there.
Right now Ive:
eth0 connects direct to internet via my cable ISP.eth1 I've set as 192.168.1.1, netmask 255.255.255.0, gateway I wasn't sure but I set as my IP on eth0 isp supplied. DNS wasn't sure, just left blank.
But I can't even enable eth1 to test those settings.
then with gui firewall crap disabled I wrote my own iptables ruleset: (kernel flagged for ip forwarding)
with all chain policies set to allow.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed libvdpau and then I installed the nvidia vdpau software. I was following some steps from another post. When I run XBMC and hit 'O' I can see that the gcpu is still not doing any work (0 - 6%), the two computer cpus are doing all the work. They run at 30%'ish on 720p content and that renders smooth. No prob there. However, the cpus jump up to 50%+ (both cpus) on 1080p content and they can't keep the frame rate steady. It jumps around significantly so of course the movie stutters. No, the network is not the issue. Its completely wired gigabit end to end. Plus I'm running the video from the local hard drive and it doesn't change.
So... the solution is to get VDPAU working and so far I haven't found the right instructions.
I've been using this system for over a year with the built-in Intel G31 chipset graphics. Then I decided to get an nVIDIA card to run Folding@home, among other things. I found that I had to run the graphics off the nVIDIA card to get Folding to run, but that caused jerkiness. So then I discovered these instructions (which are one of several reasons I don't want to upgrade from Jaunty at this time.) I'm now using my Intel card for the display, and my nVIDIA card for Folding. The only problem with this setup is that I can't enable Compiz, or do other graphically-intensive stuff like certain games. For now I'm using Metacity. Running glxinfo provides me with the following nice message:

I've just finished my new build and installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.I have in it an MSI N8400GS D512D3H (NVidia Geforce 8400GS) which I thought would work for Ubuntu. After installing Ubuntu the visual effects are disabled, can't even get "Normal" settings in the Appearance dialogue. Updates have all been installed. Apt has been updated. "Hardware Drivers" screen draws a blank. No proprietary drivers listed at all. First time I've actually used a Graphics Card in an Ubuntu install.

Nvidia-settings, supposedly, requires .11. I can, of course, downgrade to .11, but I do not know if this is recommended. Is there anyway to get nvidia-settings back without downgrading? What is a good course of action?
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter many a tear I just by sheer chance found out that, when logging in to my gnome-session (or any session really) from kdm I can do something that has eluded me for quite a while now: change screen-configuration between 1 screen and 2 screens as I please without having to log out, shutdown x, copy xorg.conf I need, restart x, log back in.
So question is: what could it possibly be, that makes GDM break a feature like this for the nvidia-settings dialog? Can anyone confirm this? *wants that error and shoot it in the face... er... code!* I still don't feel like reinstalling the whole thing, just to find out if this is due to this system being... well... OLD. Also call me a bit oldschool, but reinstalling is just lame.

I have 2 monitors, a 22 inch samsung as my main and an acer as my alt. I am trying to get the samsung monitor to display, but is is disabled. So I enable it as a separate x display, then save, but when I restart x, the settings didn't save. I save the config under under /etc/X11/xorg.conf. What am I doing wrong?

Unfortunately, the nvidia-settings dialog does not have this resolution as an option (currently running on 1920x1080). The graphics card is Geforce 6200 (should support the wanted resolution), and the monitor is connected with the VGA cable (if that matters).
