Ubuntu :: The "check All"mail Function Doesn't Work ?

I have Opera 11.01 installed on Ubuntu 10.10. The "check all"mail function doesn't work even when "include this account when checking manually" is checked. If I check my accounts one at a time everything works properly. Whats up, is this a problem with Opera or Ubuntu?I should mention that my computer is a quadruple boot system.I have Windows 7, Windows XP, Ubuntu 32 bit and 64 bit installed.Ubuntu 64 bit is the only OS having mail problems
I want to install Linux on my laptop. I started with Arch but 4 hours later, I'll take anything so now I'm trying Ubuntu.It appears that the keyboard function button that corresponds to my wireless does not work, and perhaps is windows dependent?Every time I try to interact with wlan0, I get the error "Operation not possible due to RF-kill". And as I've looked around online, it has been suggested in other forums that the only way to resolve this is to reinstall windows and dual boot, so the FN key will work.
I think this is ridiculous. There must be a way to persuade the RF-kill to be turned off again, shouldn't there?I don't have a recover disk for this laptop and I don't want to go through the trouble of requested one from acer. I reformatted the whole disk while attempted to install arch.
With the language set to either English (United States) or English (United Kingdom) ALL words are underlined in red, as though they are misspelled. I have ended up turning off the spell checker as it is so annoying. Checking Google it seems this is a know problem but there doesn't seem to be a solution for it.
For some reason, my Konqueror can't use Find Files. When I enter the parameters and then click find, the search instantly ends with nothing found, even when I know the item(s) exist. I do have kfind installed, and just tried reinstalling it and Konqueror.
I want to check my php script which contains php mail() function.But all the free hosting sites blocked the php mail() function because of spammers.I spend 5 hours for signing up in various hosting sites to check my script but none works.Is there a way to check whether a site allows php mail() function
I am currently redoing my setup and have installed a new cursor called Vienna3Ubuntu. I extracted it to the .icons folder, went to preferences and found it, it the cursor options list, right where it should be, but when I applied it, it only works kinda half way, the normal cursor won't change at all, and the other cursors only work in by browser and when I am reszing windows and such. Why won't the cursor work like it should? I am using compiz and I wonder if that has something to do with it. I have already tried restarting, relogging, reinstalling, and fiddling with general options in compiz.
well i thought about trying out the new webgl feature , however i didn't get off to a good start as , all apps that i've seen on the web aren't running ?

I tried installing NFTS Configuration Tool to auto-mount several partitions at startup, but the Configuration Tool isn't working. I've entered the terminal line to update it, but it still won't even start.
What happens is when I click on NFTS Configuration Tool under System - Administration, I'll get the prompt to enter my Administrative password. I enter it and click Ok, but then it just disappears. If I try running the Tool again, I see a window come up at the bottom of my screen titled 'System Administrative' for about half a second then disappear. If I restart or suspend and try again, I still get the same nagging problem.
what the procedure is to file bugs against slackware so I will post here. The rc.lighttpd I have works but the function to check if lighttpd is running has an exception when there's no lighttpd.
I recently put Ubuntu on my HP G series laptop that originally had Windows Vista and ever since some select function keys (i.e. dim/brighten display) and the num lock/num pad won't work. Why is this and can I fix it?
I have a few thousand .doc and .odt files (Word & OpenOffice documents) in a folder. Under 9.04, I was able to run a query search for keywords by using; Places - search for files - contains the text. It would find files with the text that I requested every time.
Now that I have 9.10, that search function does not work any more.
I'm porting code from Win32 to Linux, a math science app, the thing is that the app have full dependency of de win32 function _fpclass(). Today I was looking all day that function on Linux but it doesn't exist. I know that there are some functions that can make the job mixing them in a other one like in this link below, more or less. Well the app use very high virtual memory, Gigas of it(around 500), use Linux as Calculation Server using a very large swap space. If we can't find some way to fix this trouble, we can change the Linux for some open *nix like Open Solaris, because those have fp_class_l().
Is anyone having problems with the "Web Slice" plasmoid desktop widget? I'm trying to get it to display my download usage, by showing my ISPs webpage [URL] (no login reqd) I can get it to pull-in a URL, and specify a div label, altho while I'm configuring it the zoom is a bit random, but it kinda works. Main problem is with grabbing a specific section via pixel geometry: x,y,width,height whatever I enter for x,y just isn't doing anything, in fact the geometry settings don't seem to be having any affect that I can see.
the problem i am experiencing on my laptop (hp pavillion zv5000) which runs ubuntustudio 9.10 (this problem also occurred with ubuntu 9.10, before i upgraded to ubuntu studio) is that whenever i view a video on firefox, be it videos, metacafe, and generally any site where you can see online videos, the video glitches a lot, and after a few seconds firefox grays out, and is not responsive, which means i either have to kill firefox.i am running firefox 3.5.7 with the ubuntu firefox modifications 0.8 pack added. in the preferences, on the content tab the enable java button is not ticked. the following is the list of plugins i have on firefox:
I'm using 'Adobe Flash plug-in 10.3.183.4ubuntu0.11.04.1', installed from the package repos on kubuntu, and since the last update, it has broken all flash functionality in both rekonq and firefox.I have tried removing and reinstalling the package multiple times, both with and without the browsers open. Can anyone suggest a way to restoring functionality?
I'm making a programm under OpenSuse 11.1I'm using SDL and ofcourse SDL_TTF.when i render with the SDL's TTF function under main(), i have no problems, but when i render under thread i have segmentation fault.There is not exist any typing or any competition (i'm using semaphores) but even if i try to render on a local SDL_Surface i'm having the Segmentation fault...
I was going to back up some files to a DVD so I loaded a new blank in the drive and waited for it to come ready. I decided that now was a good time to fill up my drink and left the computer for a while. When I got back about 30 minutes later, I noticed that the drive was still cycling and had not become ready. I finally got the process killed and tried another blank, which worked. Then I went on about my business.
The next day, the machine hung up on boot with Dmesg saying that it was starting the syslog daemon, but that was as far as it would go till it dropped to the maintenance shell after a few minutes. Multiple boots always did the same thing.
After considerable troubleshooting, I noticed that the syslog file was at the maximum size - about 2.5 gig I think - and was full of DVD drive errors. Deleting the file fixed the problem.
Just to test, I built a phony syslog file to the maximum size and installed it in /var/log. Bang - same problem.
So... It appears that the system logger doesn't test for max size overflow either during runtime or during boot. Interestingly, I googled up one hit for the same problem from a couple of years ago, also on Debian, but nothing in the debian.org problem lists.
When I installed my 64 bit system of Ubuntu 10.04 the sound worked very well and I were very happy. The problem started however when I installed Skype which uses pulseaudio. As soon as I start skype (or any other application that uses pulse, HoN for example) the applications sound output or input does not work at all. If I have pulseaudio started in some way, applications that I suppose do not use it like spotify or flash player stops to produce sounds. And when I type "pulseaudio" in the terminal it gives me this:
I have the plugin installed ok and have pasted in a C source file that I know works and am getting the following errors, I think because the linker options need to be set in some way. I cannot copy the errors but they all complain of implicit declaration of functions like this: -

I'm having trouble getting compiz to work on my Laptop. It worked for a while and then I turned on Shift Switcher and a message popped up saying..."The new value for the button binding for the action Terminate in plugin Shift Switcher conflicts with the action Zoom Window of the Scale Addons plugin. Do you wish to disable Zoom Window in the Scale Addons plugin?" I was given the option of Set Terminate anyway, Don't set Terminate, and Disable Zoom Window. I clicked Don't set Terminate and ever since the only thing that works in compiz are the bindings in the general options. I've used synaptic to completely remove and then reinstall compiz but the problem persist. Something else weird, all of the changes I made are still there, even after complete removal, but they don't work?
When I try to hibernate, the computer just goes to a blank, black screen and doesn't turn off. I have to hold the power button to get it to shut down, and when I turn it back on none of the programs running before hibernation have been saved.
I just recently (about an hour ago) installed Ubuntu Netbook edition on my old laptop, and I was greeted with the message, that unity could not be run due to some sort of missing driver...fair enough, I was then greeted with the default Ubuntu desktop, I installed all my needed software (wine, google chrome) and installed the missing display drivers. I then rebooted the system, and once again I am stuck with the default desktop, and not the Unity interface. I checked the software center, and it says Unity IS in fact installed.. And yet I cannot make it appear. So now I ask you Ubuntu veterans. How do I make it work?
P.S. I wiped the system of windows, and the computer is an old HP Pavilion DV6000
Because I was getting some package errors, I ran the Repair Installed System option that shows up after boot. During System Check when earching for package databases,YaST2 is not able to find /var/lib/rpm/Filemd5s. After a while, a YaST2 box pops up and says that it Successfully rebuilt the package databaseïbut I get the same error when I run System Check again. I've chosen both Rebuild Package Database as well as Revert to Original Package Database (saved by YaST)In both cases, it saysat it was successful, but the same error occurs the next time I run System Check
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 (netbook remix) in italian. The spell checker of gEdit does not work anymore as it used to, neither in italian nor in english. It actually sort of works, but the vocabulary is really limited; it cannot recognize words as simple as 'points' and 'starting'.
I have the following packages installed: Code: aspell aspell-en aspell-it libaspell15 libgtkspell0 myspell-en-gb myspell-it language-pack-en language-pack-en-base language-pack-it language-pack-it-base language-pack-gnome-en language-pack-gnome-en-base language-pack-gnome-it language-pack-gnome-it-base language-support-en language-support-it language-support-writing-en language-support-writing-it What am I missing?
