I've discovered Firefox Sync a while ago, and it's absolutely awesome. Now of course I'd like most of my software to work this way! So is there a way to get the same behavior with Thunderbird?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been syncing files to ubuntu one without any problems for some time. I can't get my evolution contacts to sync. When I try to copy my addressbook to ubuntu one I get message "error adding contact". I can't get rid of this message - only way is to force quit. I'm running Maverick, and I did a clean re-install to try to get rid of problem - didn't work. Currently when I open the ubuntu one addressbook, there are three blank entries which can't be deleted or edited.

1. Install blueman using sudo aptitutde install blueman This installs the bluetooth manager. It should be easy to configure bluetooth support for your phone with blueman menu.

HOWTO: Sync Contacts between BlackBerry and Evolution on Fedora 10
1. Overview
Open source tools are available to sync a BlackBerry with Evolution but it appears these tools are not supported by Fedora 10. The main thing that seems to be missing is the Barry plugin for OpenSync. Maybe the reason that this package has not been created is that Barry requires OpenSync version 0.22, whereas F10 ships OpenSync version 0.36. This HOWTO explains how to build all of the required components from source code. If the required package becomes available, this HOWTO would then be redundant.
This entire build and installation is performed in the home directory of a non-root user to ensure that no system files are broken. Some of the commands in this HOWTO must be run as root, when this is the case it is stated explicitly and otherwise the commands in this document should be run under a non-root account. The username for the examples below is erik.
2. Be a Developer
When you install F10 you are prompted to specify the uses to which your computer will be put. Hopefully you selected software development, if not your machine will probably be missing many of the utilities required for this HOWTO.
3. Initialize Evolution
Open Evolution and click on all of the buttons at the left to ensure that the necessary databases are created.

On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
1000.8 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Free disk space: 280.9 GB
System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.
Audio sync method. "Stretches/squeezes" the audio stream to match the timestamps, the parameter is the maximum samples per second by which the audio is changed. -async 1 is a special case where only the start of the audio stream is corrected without any later correction.Searching the net makes one believe that this command is just some sort of magic.People just put it in the line and it just works. Isn't that nice?
It says nothing about how to change the TIME the audio starts syncing. Like do I want it to start 5 seconds delayed? Or what about 5 seconds sooner?What if the audio gets more out of sync as the video goes on? Can I slip it a little at a time? What? No magic?No one mentions a file that already has badly synced audio.So what -async 1 really does is simply start the audio at the beginning of the file. I use jpilot on opensuse 11.3 64bit to sync pim data with my Palm Treo 680 via bluetooth. This worked fine until today. Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?
I have a syslog-ng running and kernel build of 2.6.34.8 I use a syslog API in my program with facility LOG_LOCAL5 and and levels debug err and crit and info. when I ran on the older syslog facility I had everything logged fine as I intended. now I have written these rules into the syslog-ng.conf:

Anyone have any suggestions WRT Linux applications (more specifically Ubuntu, but I am not really that picky) that mimic the functionality of Nokia PC Suite (even partially)? It doesn't need to be specific to Nokia either, any brand of phone is fine as I haven't made my mind up as to what brand I am interested in.

I searched around in the the LibreOffice>Tools>Options, but I haven't found anything yet. I'm aware that I could right click on a ods file and use the "Open With Other Application" to set a default for that one filetype, but I figured that there's probably a way to completely switch all office file types to Libreoffice.

We've had the CD recorders replaced frequently, and that often fixes the problem, but then we'll start having problems again. Usually it is the CD refuses to write, or it gets written but can't be read. Often, if I re-run the burn with the same blank CD, it will be fine.
I'd like to test some CD-Rs and compare error rates so I can recommend what CD-R media we should be using. Currently we are using Memorex and Verbatim CD-Rs. Is there a good cd recording/testing suite for Linux that I could use to do this?

After 5+ years of using Ubuntu, I am switching to it as my desktop. On my old FreeBSD desktop i was running KDE3; now I am runnung 10.04.1 and find that even tho things are more friendly with KDE4, one of the tools I use most,kttsmgr, no longer works like it did on my previous desktop.
How can I configure kttsmgr to use festival (right now it says "espeak") and to present the dialogue that prints the strings beneath what is being read? --Note that I downloaded flite and eflite for testing purposes. Both fail. not a peep. I do have audio with songs and can listen to streams, but nothing from ktts*

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a two server cluster with ricci luci and conga on centos 5.6 32bit , both servers are vmware guests and have a shared storage disk connected to them both
with a GFS2 file system on them + fencing agents configured to work with VMware Vcenter.
(this is supported by vmware and works great on 4 other centos clusters i have been runing for 4 monthes with no CLVMD).
In this setup i used for the first time CLVMD as recommnded by RedHat so i could have the flexablitly of LVM under the GFS2 file system but , i have been getting some Strange problem with it , some times after a developer has done some IO heavy task like unziping a file or a simple TAR the load goes to 10 - 15 and no task can be killed , trying to reboot the server hangs.
After hard shutting the server every thing works ok until the next time some one does the same IO work as before.
