View 1 Replies View RelatedI use jpilot on opensuse 11.3 64bit to sync pim data with my Palm Treo 680 via bluetooth. This worked fine until today. Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?
I've got Ubuntu One syncing a single 25MB folder on 4 computers. On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
1000.8 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Free disk space: 280.9 GB
System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.
Audio sync method. "Stretches/squeezes" the audio stream to match the timestamps, the parameter is the maximum samples per second by which the audio is changed. -async 1 is a special case where only the start of the audio stream is corrected without any later correction.Searching the net makes one believe that this command is just some sort of magic.People just put it in the line and it just works. Isn't that nice?
It says nothing about how to change the TIME the audio starts syncing. Like do I want it to start 5 seconds delayed? Or what about 5 seconds sooner? What if the audio gets more out of sync as the video goes on? Can I slip it a little at a time? What? No magic? No one mentions a file that already has badly synced audio. So what -async 1 really does is simply start the audio at the beginning of the file. LIKE AS IF THAT ISN'T STANDARD PROCEDURE?So what is the exact solution to syncing a messed up video? And why can't it just do the proper "timestamp" sync in the first place? No docs, no info and you are left out in the cold.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit with Firefox 3.6.13 (from the repositories) and I can't seem to get the Firefox Sync AddOn installed. The addon can be found at:Whenever I try to install it, it comes up with a download error (see attached screenshot). I am running the same version of Ubuntu (albeit 32-bit) and Firefox on my laptop, and I can install it just fine on there. This leads me to think that this problem must have something to do with the 64-bit version.

Is there a way in mencoder to have it correct this, and maintain the correct sync?
I don't think it is just a matter of audio/video delay. I have tried many times to correct this via that method, and it doesn't come close. Although, if I encode the video to another format, but with the original fps, the audio is sync'd.

View 4 Replies View RelatedV.L.C. and all others - but Totem - video players that I have installed have audio out of sync. This occurs in both D.V.D. and .mkv & .avi. I had this problem with V.L.C. 1.1.10 & now with 1.1.11. I do not think that this is a problem with V.L.C. since I have had the same issue occur with gnome-mplayer. I tried to downgrade gstreamer*, and that did not correct my problem. It shouldn't be a problem with libdvd* since the problem still occurs with files on my drive. Handbrake doesn't fail to rip D.V.D correctly.
Because of all of this I figure that it must be a system library that Totem and HandBrake don't use ( or bundle most likely in the case of HandBrake ).I am using Fedora 15 x86_64 with all updates to date.

View 7 Replies View RelatedHOWTO: Sync Contacts between BlackBerry and Evolution on Fedora 10
1. Overview
Open source tools are available to sync a BlackBerry with Evolution but it appears these tools are not supported by Fedora 10. The main thing that seems to be missing is the Barry plugin for OpenSync. Maybe the reason that this package has not been created is that Barry requires OpenSync version 0.22, whereas F10 ships OpenSync version 0.36. This HOWTO explains how to build all of the required components from source code. If the required package becomes available, this HOWTO would then be redundant.
This entire build and installation is performed in the home directory of a non-root user to ensure that no system files are broken. Some of the commands in this HOWTO must be run as root, when this is the case it is stated explicitly and otherwise the commands in this document should be run under a non-root account. The username for the examples below is erik.
2. Be a Developer
When you install F10 you are prompted to specify the uses to which your computer will be put. Hopefully you selected software development, if not your machine will probably be missing many of the utilities required for this HOWTO.
3. Initialize Evolution
Open Evolution and click on all of the buttons at the left to ensure that the necessary databases are created.
4. Prepare The Environment

I've been trying to use cheese to record greeting from my kids to grand parents etc. But every time I record a video, the video is choppy and the audio sync is off. I've used the one in the (F11) repos and built it from source. It behaves the same using other distros as well. Is this par for the course with cheese, or is it my hardware?[URL]... View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving problems with yum in FC11, it is updates for files that do not exist.Did a 'yum clean metadb', 'yum clean cache', 'yum clean all' as that normally fixes issues, not this time.It does pull down all the xml files just fine, the problem is that the rpm filesets it suggests for update from those new files just do not exist. It only finds about 30 packages to update (as I have been a good boy and keep things updated) but none of the files actually exist on the mirror servers. I selected a single one here as I'm sure you don't want to trawl through the lot...
[root@eagle packages]# yum update bzr
Loaded plugins: priorities, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Update Process

I then used firefox to browse the updates directories (at download.fedoraproject.org and some of the other mirrors) that were reporting the 404 errors, and the errors are correct, the files just do not exist (well not yet anyway). So are the updates repo files out of sync at that end or have I missed something obvious that I should also have deleted from the yum setup.
I have an F11 on an old box 686 athlon with an old nVidia Corporation NV5 [RIVA TNT2/TNT2 Pro] (rev 15) AGP. I am trying to do a network install upgrade to F13. I cannot get it to display the install menus from the network install disk. I get the initial screen with the install, basic video, repair, etc choices, but after I select the install/upgrade option, I see the CD drive read but the LCD monitor display never appears. The ready light on the monitor just keeps blinking and the display stays dark. Is there anyway of getting an error log to see what is going on?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to use rsync to synchronize some folders on my LAN. I have this working with two scripts; one runs at the beginning of my work session and gets the latest directory tree from the server, and the other runs at the end of the session to put any local changes back on the server. My "get" script looks something like this:
Code:
rsync -avuzb --backup-dir=/home/user/rsync_backup_dir --delete my_server:/home/bak/common_data/ /home/user/data
This works well, and with the "b" option any file that has been deleted from the master directory tree on the server will be deleted from the local machine and moved to the local backup directory. This is a safety measure to prevent the loss of files through a mistake (on my part).
The problem is the "put" script:
Code:
rsync -avuzb --backup-dir=/home/user/rsync_backup_dir --delete /home/user/data/ my_server:/home/bak/common_data
I want to run both scripts from the local machine, but the "put" script will not save deleted files to a backup directory. I tried using a remote backup directory like "my_server:/home/user/rsync_backup_dir" but this did not work. Is there a way to backup files deleted from a remote server from an rsync script run locally?
