I am having problems accessing my website. I have port forwarding enabled on my router and below are the errors I am getting plus my firewall setup.

So I am trying to add some sites to my server, right now I have an active site at www2.site.tld. As a test, I copied [URL]to [URL], and changed only the line
ServerName www2.site.tld
to
ServerName what.site.tld
as well as renaming the lines for the log files appropriately then
which by everything I have read should result in what.site.tld being identical to www.site.tld. Instead, it flat-out does not resolve. Apache does create some blank log files in /var/www/
I am trying a release of Ubuntu has have run into a problem that does not make much sense. I am receiving the following error: Syntax error on line 20 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/portal: Invalid command 'ProxyHTMLEnable', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration fail! I believe the modules required for this is apt-get install libapache2-mod-proxy-html and it shows under the available modules and it was enabled with a2enmod proxy-html.
The line from the config is ProxyHTMLEnable On. The release is the latest download with updates from, 32bit.
I have some problem in apache2 configuration. I have two websites on same IP on LAN.i.e. 192.168.1.5

What should I check in a few blogs I checked they said to mention in [URL]...But in this case what should I put I have two different websites or what other thing I have missed? I do not have access to DNS so that on LAN I can point site1.abc.com and abc.com to same IP 192.168.1.5 which to me seems could resolve the issue.
With hardy, I was able to have multiple SSL sites on the one machine. But I can't seem to get it to work for ubuntu 9.10, I've read that you need to put each SSL site on a different IP. But I was able to do it with hardy without different IP's.

I have just booted up to do some local work on my website and apache 2 has start throwing 403 error's at me? phpmyadmin and other alias's I have setup work but the main root just 403's on me?? It has been working away flawlessly for months now. No system upgrade has recently updated Apache and I can see no errors in my set up files!

I wanted to setup a local Apache2 server for some programming and testing. I installed and got Apache2 working with PHP, MySQL and all works fine. Now I wanted to add an additional directory to somewhere in my /home. And that's where things went wrong. I went to edit /etc/apache2/sites-available/default. This is it:

I tried a lot of stuff using chmod and chown, but all to no avail. I tried to change the ownership of the /home/name/web to root, and to www-data, I changed file permissions to allow executing the files.

I recently installed Apache on Lucid Lynx (Macbook 1.1) using the following tutorial: [URL] Everything appears to work correct except that when I browse http://localhost/ in Firefox, I cannot see any of the directories. Although, files such as html documents are visible. When I view the /var/www directory using the default graphical file browser, all of its child directories have Xs over their icons. When I attempt to open the directory "js", the following error message displays:The folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "js".
I figured this was preventing Firefox from viewing the directories. So I launched it with the "gksu" command to see if it would help. I still couldn't see directories when browsing http://localhost/ I'm basically trying to achieve functionality identical to the MAMP local server for Mac OS X. Webmin running two websites from one server, i've made a second virtual server for my second site including its own document root with it's own index.html file ,but for some odd reason they both run the same site. And i use a Static ip address.
In the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.

how is it possible to serve multiple sites hosted in my computer with apache through dyndns.I am using ubuntu 10.04 and i had setup a dyndns domain as of mydomain.homelinux.org/127.0.1.1 medic. Now when i go to mydomain. homelinux.org outside of my lan i see the default site of apache.
What I want to do now is make nicmatthew.co.cc point to /var/www/nicmatthew/html and make rielworld.co.cc point to /var/www/jimriel/html. I have created the apache vHosts nicmatthew.co.cc and rielworld.co.cc containing this:
So now I would like to know how to make rielworld.co.cc and nicmatthew.co.cc point to the correct places. Do I somehow set up nameservers? Do I make an A record?
Recently I've been earning money doing web development, php, html/css, MySQL and so on. What I have encountered a lot are clients that need a complete solution. They need their site built, but they also need a hosting solution. I've sent more than just a few clients off to GoDaddy, and quite frankly, I'd like to cash in on some of that.
It would do wonders for my business if I could offer them a hosting solution with full support on top of building their site. My problem is I have no idea how to do this. So I'd like to know how I can host multiple sites on the same server. Does anyone know of a nice guide I can follow to set this up? It's really important that I can add sites fairly easily over the internet. Since I will be away at school, I won't have direct access to the server
I think my apache2 is owned and running as root. I don't know if I installed it like a noob a while ago but I would like to secure it now especially since I just figured out how setup virtual hosts and I may want to eventually let people host sites on my server and I obviously don't want to have to give them root access. How can I confirm that apache2 is running as root and how do I take it away from the root user?
I am using Ubuntu Server 10.04 64bit. I am getting an Apache2 start up error after I setup my certificates and configure Apache2 for HTTPS. At the point on start up where I need to type in my certificate pass code I get a lockup due to the Apache2 process being in a hung state. I reboot if needed and switch to console tty2. From the output of the command above I look for the apache2 process and make note of its process ID. Then, I kill that process ID. For example, the command below has an apache2 process ID of 1131.

The apache2 server starts up and asks for my certificate password, accepts it when I type it in, and runs perfectly fine afterward.
Fortunately this instance of Ubuntu Server is running inside a VMWare virtual machine. I can just "pause" the virtual machine if I need to rather than going through this crude and tedious start up process too frequently.
Crude and tedious are feelings I'm having too frequently lately with Ubuntu Server.
So I've got a box running 10.04LTS Server, and on it is running the latest build of Apache2.It's a home box - a server set up for the sole purpose of experimenting and having fun with. So far, the fun is mostly breaking it over SSH and then fixing it when I get home and can log into it via recovery.What I really want to do is to get this box set up with Apache2 the way it seems like it was designed - with Apache2 serving web pages from its default file location (/var/www) but also being able to log in and upload/download new web page files to that directory over SCP or SFTP. I keep hitting snags.Here's what I've done so far:
1. The server is set up in a DMZ at home and my router updates a Dynamic DNS record; so far I can SSH into it no problem.
2. Apache is working. I get my "it works!" page when I enter either the IP or the dyndns domain name.
3. SFTP is sort of working. I can log on using WinSCP and see the files and download them, but I can't upload to the default directory with my normal login.
Here's my issues: 1. I want to set up Apache *correctly*. To me, that means leaving it pointing to the default directory, but still being able to upload to that directory. I have not (and probably will not) enable the root account. I've set the permissions to 755. I've tried chown'ing the directory, but then it seems I can't view the webpages.As a workaround, I created a www folder in my default user home directory and pointed Apache2 there in the 'default' file in /etc/apache2/sites-available. The changes read as follows:
That gives me a workaround for the default directory SFTP issue, but I would rather learn what I need to do to have it set up and working with default values.
2. You may notice I added Includes under the Options. My goal is to get server-side includes working. But they aren't. I have some existing webpages my work has set up - I using these as a template to use to adapt a flash movie I made to a specific resolution, as well as to learn how to optimize my flash for a webpage. Our webhost uses virtual hosting; I am not yet doing so. I'm not sure what they've done to set up the server-side includes, but the files they are using are all html files - no shtml. The include files themselves have either .htm or .html extensions. All of the pages have .html extensions.
My reading said that I need mod_include installed in Apache2. Where can I check to see that it is installed? Where do I need to add the Includes under Options?Is it in the right place? And finally, where do I need to add XBitHack on to enable it? This is the method that Apache suggests, but the documentation offers no clue as to where to put it. Most of the documentation out there refers to apache.conf, but that's the Apache 1.3 way of doing things.I really just want this to be set up according to the defaults as much as possible.I want to have a good working knowledge of Apache and of how to set it up and configure it, but dang it if it isn't a frustrating process.
