Does anyone know how to install Metasploit (on 10.04)? And does anyone know of they still support a GUI or if they dropped that? I heard they were gonna drop it after 3.-something.

I just installed it by following steps in [URL]
but when I run "msfconsole", I got the following error messages telling me that ruby-openssl is not installed. I installed it "apt-get install libopenssl-ruby" but same message still comes again. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10.

I am using BackTrack 4 RC 2, Metasploit and Armitage. I am not able to see my target computers in the target area of the Armitage application after performing an Nmap quick scan (OS detect) on my wireless network (I have several computers connected to the wireless network).

I want to install Metasploit on Fedora14. I am new to linux.These are the steps I have done after downloading the .run file from metasploit
$ chmod +x framework-3.*-linux-x86_64.run
$ sudo ./framework-3.*-linux-x86_64.run
It runs a UI for Installation till it finishes but m not able to see metasploit installed or where it is?
i am using fedora12,i have downloaded the metasploit framework and it is in tar.bz2 form,i wanted to know how i could install it in fedora? i tryed it in windows ,worked smoothly since it was in .exe form! bt here in fedora i am not sure on how i could install it!

I downloaded the metasploit framework tarball on my Fedora 10 and on unpacking, there were executables like msfconsole, msfgui etc, but these wouldn't run... the same error is reported everytime:

what a horrendous piece of software. Ive been at it 3 days trying to do something that ought to be simple and everytime i solve one problem another problem arises. at first I removed the old clamav 9.5 or something. I got the latest ubuntu release btw, and Clamav used to work when i first installed it in the previous ubuntu release. anyway, it asked me to upgrade, so since synaptic doesnt have the latest, i downloaded from sourceforge. I did the whole ./configure gave me errors like need build-essentials-- which i then did, error: need zlib.dv--- I did that one too. Now two more errors that i need to fix so I can compile it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop randomly shuts off, at first I thought it was an issue with the laptop overheating but during the install of 11.04 I made sure the laptop had a fan blowing on it constantly and checked it and determined it couldn't have overheated. My problem now is that I was able to use a live cd to access my old files but was presented with only two files stating that my files were encrypted, I'm don't ever recall encrypting my files and so I'm without a passphrase.
What I'm wondering, is there a way to gain access without the passphrase? Or is there a way to fix the corrupt install?
I am going to try to install Tripwire on my computer. I do not know why or how to configure Tripwire policy and configuration files.

It gives a link of www.firefox.com to go to for the latest firefox. I checked the Update manager. No update. All of Mozilla links in google say Mozilla. I feel sure this is an attempt to install malware. It came up when I went to cnet and I guess I shoule include a picture of it. Does anybody have any experience with this?
I went on to read cnet and the first article was about major add servers serving up adds that automaticly install malware. I guess this was a case of that. I had addblocker disabled at the time but noscript active. Looks to me like having noscript saved me an infection. Be careful out there.
