Ubuntu :: Reset Keyring - Can't Get It To Sync With The Account
Oct 16, 2010
My dad has an HP about 3 years old. I had to disable apic/acpi and now every time I install Ubuntu Keyring messes up. I can't get it to sync with the account. I've tried deleting the gnome folders in Home and the gconf. That doesn't work, but every time I sign in, I'm required to enter my sign in password and keyring's password.

I have upgraded a laptop to 9.04 (Jaunty) but I now have an annoying keyring window popping up asking for a password for connection to the wireless router. The keyring was set up when the laptop was running 8.04 (or possibly 7.10) but I managed to remove it some time ago. Now it has come back. How can I re-set the keyring or remove it?

I managed to install the ubuntu One app on my desktop machine and it was working really well, but then it stopped working, when I forgot my password to the default keyring. How do I go about resetting the password to my keyring? Is this possible?

I installed opensuse yesterday, but I don't remember the keyring password, and even if I know the WEP key by heart, it's boring to retype it. How can I reset the default password? I tried Keyring menu, dell all keyrings and created a new call "default", but it stills asking me the password, that is different that the new.

I've just started using the amazingly useful Ubuntu One, but I can't sync files from my computer, due to the pesky locked keyring, default, which wishes to be unlocked. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the password for the default keyring is. Is there any way I could find this out? I've included a screenshot, just in case.

Ever since I upgraded from karmic to lucid my user account has been really buggy. The other profiles on the computer are acting normal but I believe mine is acting strangely because of the way I had my desktop set up before I upgraded (conky and a terminal on my desktop, compiz). Is there a way to reset my account to the default settings? I figured if I could delete my account and recreate it everything would be okay but I can not delete the account.

I am sometimes getting the following msg, asking me for a password... enter password for default keyring to unlock, the application 'Account Manager' (/usr/libexec/mission-control-5) wants access to default keyring, but it is locked. I have never seen this before and I have no idea what the password would be (since I've never set a "keyring" password).

I setup openldap and samba on 9.10. The ubuntu desktop client gets authenticated successfully with the server.
But when I do a passwd on the client, only the ldap passwd is getting changed but not in the samba and the unix user account.
My smb.conf
Code:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://192.168.3.100
ldap suffix = dc=example,dc=local
ldap user suffix = ou=People
ldap group suffix = ou=Groups

Have anyone used an email client that stays in sync with a free Hotmail account? I have setup Claws Mail but when I delete an email within the client it remains on the server. I remember this being the same for other email clients. Is there any client that will stay in sync? If I delete an email from within the client it will also be deleted from Hotmail's web bases interface.

I'm unable to reset using either the reset option in gnome shell or the command using a terminal. When I select it the shell exits and displays the graphic "exploding" and then it just sits there. Shutdown works fine; just no reset. Any ideas? I've installed from the DVD. I booted the live CD and it resets just fine so I know it's no my hardware

I've got Ubuntu One syncing a single 25MB folder on 4 computers. On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
1000.8 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Free disk space: 280.9 GB
System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.

Audio sync method. "Stretches/squeezes" the audio stream to match the timestamps, the parameter is the maximum samples per second by which the audio is changed. -async 1 is a special case where only the start of the audio stream is corrected without any later correction.Searching the net makes one believe that this command is just some sort of magic.People just put it in the line and it just works. Isn't that nice?
It says nothing about how to change the TIME the audio starts syncing. Like do I want it to start 5 seconds delayed? Or what about 5 seconds sooner? What if the audio gets more out of sync as the video goes on? Can I slip it a little at a time? What? No magic? No one mentions a file that already has badly synced audio. So what -async 1 really does is simply start the audio at the beginning of the file. LIKE AS IF THAT ISN'T STANDARD PROCEDURE?So what is the exact solution to syncing a messed up video? And why can't it just do the proper "timestamp" sync in the first place? No docs, no info and you are left out in the cold.

I use jpilot on opensuse 11.3 64bit to sync pim data with my Palm Treo 680 via bluetooth. This worked fine until today. Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?

I'm asking this in the right place. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and recently started getting a pop-up similar to the following at every boot up: Login keyring failed Your login keyring did not succeed. Enter login keyring here: That's not [exactly] what it says, but very similar. I should probably add that I have not set up any different 'user profiles' or whatever they're called, but am the only one using this PC...at least, at the present time. Again, this only started a couple of weeks ago and I don't know what I did to start it nor what to do to stop it. I guess it's not extremely painful to have to type my password in every time, but a PITA nevertheless.

That is not accepted by the default keyring. I have tried to change the default keyring password using my administrator user name password. What is the default keyring password? How can I change it, or use it if I have never known it or created it?

I'm trying to use VNC on my headless desktop server that's running lucid, but I can only use SSH because a pop asking me to unlock the keyring shows up every time I try to use VNC. I don't have a monitor for that desktop, so I was wondering, is there any way to remove the keyring/to automatically unlock it during autologin? I don't remember what a site I found it on, but I used this to remove my keyring yesterday. It's no longer working today.

I recently changed my password, restarted my comp several times since then, and then today (roughly 23:30 est) i received an error message stating that my keyring password had changed since i last needed to use it. i dont know why it changed only the login pass and not the 'keyring' pass too. i cannot figure out how to actually change the keyring pass..this poses no actual problem, merely an inconvenience.

I've been fiddling with a number of things the past day or two trying to get samba working, now it seems to be, but in the process of tinkering with that 've developed a new problem. Its hard to pin-point when it happened as all I know is that I restarted and was no longer prompted for any kind of password. I have been searching google for a few hours and have only found ways to make this happen on purpose, but not necessarily anything to reverse it. If somebody has any idea what has happened here This is really frustrating. I liked loging in with the keyring as opposed to the login screen and I would like things to go back that way.

I wana know the difference between PAM and GNOME-KEYRING.
I have googled both of them and I found that they both are for authenticating users. and then some tutorials say that I can use gnome-keyring with PAM support!
So what is the difference and if there is no difference how then can I use gnome-keyring with PAM?
