View 1 RepliesJust want to point your attention to this fantastic plug-in for Rhythmbox. No more copy-pasting URLs from Shoutcast.com!

Use the "Featured downloads" links to retrieve the plug-in and follow the install instructions at [url]
Really you need to quit and restart Rhythmbox after activating the plug-in.
I've tried to contact the BBC on this but they cleverly seem to have made this impossible ! Does anyone know if there is a none Microsoft feed for radio 4, I have all my radio stations set up and working using Rhythmbox but cannot listen to radio 4 as it's a mms feed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Rhythmbox to stream your music to multiple potential listeners over the Internet. But mostly, writing down how I did it so I don't have to re-do all the research the next time.StepsInstall icecast2: APT linkEdit /etc/icecast2/icecast.xml to configure your password at least. You need to add a user-specific password for the username that will be running Rhythmbox. For example, if your username is john you need to putQuote:<john-password>ChangeThisPassword</john-password>between the <authentication> </authentication> tags.I also suggest you set the port to 8000.Restart icecast2 using the following command:
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/icecast2 restart
Download the attached script (shout2send.tar.gz) and extract it to

I would like to code a program that can play the shoutcast, eventally with lirc and sure without any X (command line). Is there a way to retrieve all those streams from their shoutcast website? I noted that the daily headlines availabe in each country arent there.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am trying to list radio channels in Tunapie2 and it won't list anything. It will display TV stations, but not radio.
I removed the software and Re-installed it with the same problem. I even removed most files from my .tunapie folder under my home and just left prefs and favorites alone. I did this before re-installing the software.
Icecast works fine, but not Shoutcast Radio.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe liked the idea to broadcast-stream live for our fellow students. Firstly we thought to start with music and then continue with interviews. If we cannot make it live, then we can play a recorded interview.
As I saw, both are playing with winamp for windows. Is there something helpful for playing with openSUSE (or linux in general)?
You'll tell me that most of my friends use windows, why now use their? I just wanted to make it open source and try to play some CC music first (like jamendo).
I was looking for rhythmbox + shoutcast feature for long years and finally i decide to write my own.

I use shoutcast to select streaming audio stations to play, depending on mood, whim, whatever.when I click on 'tune in' next to the audio station, rhythmbox pops up....and that's that. I would expect it to just start playing the station. If I select 'Radio' in rhythmbox's upper left panel, and -then- click 'tune in' on the shoutcast page next to the station I want, there's an entry made in the playist at that time, but then there's an error popup says: Couldn't Start Playback You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins. Which is surprising. It's a shoutcast stream. It should just play. But anyway, I guess something didn't get installed in the default install.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if any in the Ubuntu community owns a Carmen Car Radio player by Livio Radio. The program to save internet radio to the device is written in Java, however I am not able to run it either using WINE or using Open JDK.
The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.
I'm having issues with adding radio stations on Rhythmbox. The default radio stations also somehow disappeared.
list of radio stations. And, what do they mean by url of the radio station. Every url I enter seems to be invalid.
Ubuntu 9.10
Rhythmbox 0.12.5
How does a person determine the URL of the audio stream for a Live365 broadcast in order to create a new radio station entry in Rhythmbox? I would like to be able to access and listen to the audio stream completely from within Rhythmbox.
I'm having an issue with rhythmbox in Lucid. I can add and play new radio stations fine. However, upon closing rhythmbox and reopening the radio station disappears from the list. Is there a way to get the stations I add to stay?

I have tried to do it myself, but fail. It just won't work!
A few days ago, all streaming on my 10.10 stopped working, except flash. MPlayer in firerfox is not working anymore, neither is streaming internet radio with rhythmbox. Radio stations that worked only days ago stopped responding, giving an error message that the location was not found.
Does this have anything to do with gstreamer maybe?
I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala with Gnome desktop.I listen to online radio with Rhythmbox, I have all the necessary URLs loaded in.Now Rhythmbox is a great program but it seems like overkill just to listen to online radio. Is anyone using an alternative for this purpose, something small and neat?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to set up a radio server with icecast2, ices2 and teamspeak.
On my old server with a snd_hda soundcard it worked:
- people speak on a teamspeak2 channel
-- server with a teamspeak2 (aoss emulated) process "listen" people
--- ices2 capture sound from soundcard and stream with icecast2
Now i got no soundcard and i try to replicate my scenario using snd_dummy. Is it possible? I created my fake /dev/dsp used by teamspeak (no emulation) and seems to work, ices2 still don't start because "ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1240_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card" if i use hw:0,0 as device, "ALSA lib pcm.c:2144snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM /dev/dsp" if i use /dev/dsp. Missing PCM channel, as far as i understand. How can i solve? No "modprobe snd-dummy" parms seems to create PCM channel (as alsamixer shows) and ices2 won't start without.
I've recently purchased HP Mini 210 (about a few months ago) which has wireless accessibility. Unfortunately, internet is not easily accessible from where I live unless you have a home connection (which is quite expensive) or you connect to a Cyber Cafe (not really convenient). I've checked some really good tools like FM Radio and Rhythmbox which require internet in order to stream radio stations directly.I'm quite fond of FM Radio, though recently an old radio broke down and I thought a netbook could help (although I admit I bought the netbook for writing scripts and stories solely). Although it's funny that an old technology can do what's it's meant to do, while a newer one (PC's) depend on internet alone.
What I was wondering is that since HP Mini 210 has a wireless access capability isn't it capable of catching FM Radio waves like an old radio without depending on internet connectivity? If it is capable of it, how do I do that?
Dear community, I am using the version 10.04 LTS of Ubuntu. I want to listen to an internet radio station, which I can listen without a problem in Windows. However, in Ubuntu nothing happens when I click the link. The URL of the radio station is [URL]. The link which starts the streaming has the words "RADIO EN VIVO".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using VLC to listen to a radio stream online. It works ok, but always takes ~2min to actually connect to the stream. I opened VLC up via a terminal and got the following output:Quote:

I am seemingly having a problem with the command "vlc://quit". I have an .sh file which accesses a streaming url. If I leave "vlc://quit" in the .sh file it executes immediately - i.e. supposedly goes through all the preceding commands but closes down (quits) before anything happens. If I take it out everything is fine ( vlc opens, finds, plays/records & stops). But, of course, I'm left with vlc still open.

View 2 Replies View Related[URL] In Windows just click "Oua ou vivo" (Listen Live) and away you go (WMP). Can also select one of "S os melhore" (Just the hits) and it plays. In Ubuntu I've downloaded Amarok, MPlayer, Rhythm box, Streamtuner, & VLC, but am not going to live long enough to figure out how to stream with any of them (although "S os melhores" plays OK). how to stream this & any other WMP station. No problem with Flash stations such as [URL] by the way.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to record an Internet radio stream? I don't mean the audio output, I mean the stream itself, which often contains additional data such as track and artist details.
I guess what I'm asking is how to record the stuff that goes /into/ my media player, rather than what comes out of it. But maybe dealing with raw data like this would result in huge files and be impractical?
