View 2 RepliesI have a Canon iR3570/iR4570 PXL, and installed the driver CQue 1.0 TCP/IP Queue from Canon webpage.
The problem:
- if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Calc with an image and text, the image is not printed (the space is blank).
- if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Calc with just an image, it's printed great.
- if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Impress, the images are not printed but the text is printed great.

Since slackware 13.0 (upgraded to 13.1), I haven't been able to print anything. I can add printers no problem using the cups gui (or whatever). However any print I send to any printer fails because of:
"Unable to open image file for printing!"
I can post the whole error log if that helps, but I can't see much in it. I haven't been able to print for about 6 months, which is getting a bit annoying.
p.s, as a I lazy option I upgraded to the cups in -current, but that didn't help (although I don't think it was a very different version).
I am trying to upload some pics on my Facebook account using Firefox. When I click on Facebook's file upload icon, Firefox bring up a 'File Upload' window. I noticed that smaller image file is previewed on the lower right hand corner, while bigger image file is not. Is there anyway I can change this behavior or maybe change what Firefox is using to browse my files?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not a Script-fu expert but I did manage to get a Script-fu script to at least not throw up any errors. However, it also doesn't work. I've written a bash script to use gphoto2 and imagemagick to snap a picture, download, rotate and crop it ready for print. I'd like to automate the final step and have The GIMP or some other program print it.
My script-fu script is:
(define (printshot filename)
(let* ((image (car(gimp-file-load RUN-NONINTERACTIVE filename filename)))
(gimp-print-gtk RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image)
(gimp-image-delete image)))
)
and my bash script to call it is: gimp -i -b '(printshot $1)' -b '(gimp-quit)' I know it's executing the script-fu script because I have received error messages when I do something invalid in it. However, I don't get any output. I get the same thing when I run it from the Script-fu console. It seems to execute but doesn't print anything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a print server in Fedora 13. I've made it using CUPS and when I send something to print from a Windows PC it goes ok. My main concern is to know where is the spool file stored when a file is sent to print. I've seen in many forums that it is stored in /var/spools/cups. What I only see here is a file name c000XXX with some information about the printing job. I'm using hold print for this printer and before printing out anything I can't find the spool. I've tried cups-pdf and it stores a pdf file in a route but this is not enough for me. I need to know where the spool data is stored in order to know from who is the job being send.

I have a few .chm files that I can view in xCHM or other chm file reader programs.
However, what I really want is to just print out every page of the .chm into one big .pdf file. Then I can read it a lot easier and it is much more portable for me.
Does anyone know any command line or tool that can output every page of a .chm file, formatted, in order, to a PDF or just the Printer?
I am trying to compare a list of patterns from one file and grep them against another file and print out only the unique patterns. Unfortunately these files are so large that they have yet to run to completion. Here's the command that I used:
Code: grep -L -f file_one.txt file_two.txt > output.output Here's some example data:
Code:
>FQ4HLCS01BMR4N
>FQ4HLCS01BZNV6
>FQ4HLCS01B40PB
>FQ4HLCS01BT43K
>FQ4HLCS01CB736
>FQ4HLCS01BU3UM
>FQ4HLCS01BBIFQ
how to increase efficiency or use another command?
Everything in Linux is a file, right? And everything can be represented by a file? Is there some way I could create a block device file that represents (i.e., provides an interface to) this image file? If so, then I could use fdisk on the device file to split it into partitions, format the partitions, and then mount them as directories. I could create a file system within a file system, which would be fun.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAre there any reliable ways to print libreoffice or openoffice drawings to multiple pages. I have two drawings I designed for 11" x 22" sheets, and I'd like to print one of them to 4x or at most 6x 8 1/2" x 11" sheets, without reduction.
So far, when I've tried this using "print to multiple sheets," the results have been erratic, and have basically wasted paper and ink with no usable results.
I can't even preview this.
I am using the old trick of creating a duplicate file, and creating for duplicate slides within it, making each slide one group, and using the alignment settings to make each slide match one corner of the original image. It works, but it is kinda clunky.

How can I print &FARAchieved to a file? Or, printing the whole bioReturn would be fine too.
I've seen lots of threads about this with complex solutions using things like PSUtils etc. but nothing simple and easy. Is there an easy way to print to a document to a PDF file so that it is properly formatted to be printed as a booklet?
For example, a 12 page booklet made up of A4 folded in half to A5 -
1st page = 12 & 1
2nd page = 2 & 11
3rd page = 10 & 3 etc.
So that when it is printed double-sided it comes out as a booklet. The site at the following link does what I want perfectly if I upload the booklet in single pages format, but it would be nice to have a simple way to do it offline in ubuntu [URL]
We have workgroup network in the home and the printer "hp laserjet p1005" connected at the server (OS : windows server 2003) and I am connected to the Internet by the server without problems. But when I want to print any file, it remains in (processing) and no print. It's picture for this problem:

My HP Deskjet D-2660 will not print. I can print to file but not the printer. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and have no other problems. I have installed hpip and hpijs form HP and cups was made available via and upgrade. I have a lot of data from var/log/cups/error_log but don't know what it is supposed to say.
I can print to file and everything else I check seems to say that all is right. Is there any glaring faults that I should look for?? As I stated on the other post I get a message that the print job has been sent to the printer and then another message stating that the print job has completed. In system/administration/printing, the printer shows up properly and has a green check mark on it. Connected to localhost shows at the bottom of the little window. Under /printer it shows shared and enabled Then under printer/properties, it shows as the HP Deskjet D2600 series the location is given as john-desktop It defines the Device URI: hp:/usb/Deskjet_D2600_series?serial=CN9ANDF0ZT05C9 shows the Make and Model HP Deskjet d2600 Series hpijs,.. printer state: idle
Across the bottom it theoretically allows you to print a test page or clean the print heads. (won't print) On the printing-local host small page that opens under system/administration/printing there is no group under that heading only new group or new group from selection. I never named a group since I am the only user.
I have shut the printer down and disconnected the USB and rebooted. Then connect the power and plug in the USB cable I get all the same answers nothing appears to change. Here is some of the var/log/cups/error_log file. It does this over and over every minute same thing. The print que is empty from both administration and applications.
