Ubuntu :: Pressure Sensitivity Only Works For One Program?

Jan 10, 2010

I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet, which as far as I know, is supported. The pressure sensitivity works well on GIMP, then I noticed that it doesn't seem to work in any of the other graphics programs I tried using. Like Pencil animation. (which I know supports pressure sensitivity)

Networking :: Broadcom Card Works But Sensitivity Reduced?

Feb 28, 2010

I have a Broadcom based PCMCIA wifi card that works great on an older kernel in Debian after a friend of mine did the fwcutter business.

I just installed Backtrack 4 release version on another laptop. While this card works right out of the box the sensitivity is greatly reduced. The built in wifi card (Intel chipset) can see twice as many APs at any given time.

Now, I know that Broadcom chipsets are not the best but this card normally has fantastic sensitivity and Tx power plus an external antenna connector so I really need to get it working properly. When it's working properly under Linux or Windows it blows the competition away.

Ubuntu :: Krita Not Using Pressure Sensor With Wacom Bamboo

May 10, 2011

I've installed Krita in Kubuntu 11.04 and while GIMP works fine with the Wacom tablet (so Xorg is configured properly), Krita responds to the tablet pen as if it was a mouse (so on/off, no pressure sensitivity at all).

I've found old topics about bugs in Qt 4.6 but since we are now using 4.7, I assume those have been fixed?

Ubuntu :: Wallpaper Management Program That Works With Dual Monitors?

May 25, 2010

I've been looking and trying various programs to replace my beloved Wallpaper-Tray on my new Ubuntu 10.04 setup. The problem is, nothing seems to be able to work with my dual monitors like wallpaper-tray did.

Drapes, Wally, Nitrogen, and Wallpapoz are all pretty worthless when it comes to dual monitors. I am looking for something that will stretch my dual-screen wallpaper across both screens like wallpaper-tray did. Drapes comes close by centering a wallpaper in the middle of both screens - but if it can't stretch it across both screens then that's a deal-breaker for me. Not all my dual screen wallpapers are 3840x1200. Also, drapes was giving me errors every time at startup....very annoying.

Or am I just missing something with the programs I've been trying? It's surprising that those programs wouldn't have more options available for dual monitor setups.

I can't get a program (wbar) to run directly from my user account, it fails saying "Image not found -> maybe using a relative path?". But if I run su -c "wbar", it shows up and manages to load the image. I think it has something to do with ImLib2 or whatever loads the image. I checked permissions on libImlib2.so.1 and it's world-readable and executable. Can libImlib2.a be causing this problem, set to 644? What else should I be checking?

Ubuntu :: How To Turn Mouse Sensitivity Down

Apr 4, 2010

Having the hardest time turning the mouse sensitivity down in xfce. Various xset settings make no real difference. I move the mouse under an inch and it covers the entire screen easily. razertool-gtk won't recognize my mouse (also, I couldn't find any documentation at all for it, but maybe I'm just dumb), the xfce settings don't lower it enough, and the last thing I was going to try was to edit my xorg.conf. I though there was supposed to be a mouse section there, and this is all I have in my xorg.conf file:

Code:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
DefaultDepth 24
EndSection

Section "Module"
Load "glx"
Disable "dri2"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Default Device"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

Ubuntu :: 10.04 - Mouse Sensitivity Too High

Aug 11, 2010

The mouse sensitivity in Ubuntu is a little too high, and no matter how I set the mouse settings its either too sensitive or too slow...or too fast. I have tried many times to find the correct mouse settings adjusting both acceleration and sensitivity but nothing seems to be good. I've tried both my Microsoft mouse and Logitech MX Performance mouse and the same problem is apparent on both. Is there a bug with Ubuntu's mouse settings or something (I'm sure I heard about it some time ago - that the sensitivity settings aren't working exactly as they should be?), and is there any way around it? (or at least, be able to set good settings some how).

OpenSUSE Install :: Pam_ldap Username Case Sensitivity On 11.2

Sep 8, 2010

It seems pam_ldap in 11.2 is not case insensitive anymore when it comes to checking usernames with uid from ldap.It is working fine on 11.1 though (both systems with latest updates up to now)(I didn't try 11.3 yet)On our ldap server (which is out of my control), the usernames are not unified, some are all in lowercase and some are capitalized, but on our Linux servers we have all usernames in lowercase.

Since our upgrade to 11.2, the users that their uid on ldap server does not match exactly to the username on Linux servers can not login anymore. Is there any option to change this behavior and force pam_ldap to be case-insensitive or convert uid/usernames to lowercase?
or all of a sudden pam_ldap decided to become case sensitive!?

General :: Touchpad Sensitivity Scales To Virtual Screen Dimensions?

Jul 11, 2011

I am experimenting with attaching a second monitor to my Ubuntu Natty laptop, and I have noticed an annoying "feature" that makes any multi-monitor setup so unusable that I actually prefer my single-monitor laptop setup. It appears that the system automatically "scales" the X- and Y-axis sensitivity of the touchpad to match the dimensions of the "virtual" screen that spans across multiple monitors. This is best illustrated with an example. If I set up two monitors side-by-side, the touchpad's X-axis speed is doubled, so that moving my finger the same distance on the touchpad causes the mouse on the screen to move twice as far in the X direction as it did when I had only a single monitor. Yet the Y-axis sensitivity remains unchanged, so all diagonal mouse movements end up at the wrong angle. This makes the touchpad almost completely useless, since the mouse on the screen does not move in the same direction as my hand on the pad.

Is there anything I can do about this? I just want the X- and Y-axis speeds to be identical, and I definitely don't want my mouse sensitivity changing because I added a screen. The touchpad is a Synaptics touchpad, by the way. The laptop is a Dell M1330 with an nVidia graphics card.
