Dec 22, 2010I'm using ubuntu. Is it possible to set the mouse acceleration/sensitivity to a value beyond the maximum that is available through System->preferences->mouse ?

Ubuntu :: Mouse Sensitivity Not Adjusting - How To Fix It
Feb 16, 2010Using a new Ubuntu 9.10 install with Wubi. I go into System > Preferences > Mouse and adjust the sensitivity bars and acceleration with no effect. Anyone got an idea for how to adjust this? It's too slow.

Apr 4, 2010Having the hardest time turning the mouse sensitivity down in xfce. Various xset settings make no real difference. I move the mouse under an inch and it covers the entire screen easily. razertool-gtk won't recognize my mouse (also, I couldn't find any documentation at all for it, but maybe I'm just dumb), the xfce settings don't lower it enough, and the last thing I was going to try was to edit my xorg.conf. I though there was supposed to be a mouse section there, and this is all I have in my xorg.conf file:

Ubuntu :: 10.04 - Mouse Sensitivity Too High
Aug 11, 2010The mouse sensitivity in Ubuntu is a little too high, and no matter how I set the mouse settings its either too sensitive or too slow...or too fast. I have tried many times to find the correct mouse settings adjusting both acceleration and sensitivity but nothing seems to be good. I've tried both my Microsoft mouse and Logitech MX Performance mouse and the same problem is apparent on both. Is there a bug with Ubuntu's mouse settings or something (I'm sure I heard about it some time ago - that the sensitivity settings aren't working exactly as they should be?), and is there any way around it? (or at least, be able to set good settings some how).

Sep 26, 2010Running Lucid, has been a bit glitch here and there, but generally ok. I use Audacity a lot, so need "drag" with the mouse. Also "drag" on the desktop has gone totally now it just opens the file or folder. Any mouse control app that works? Using a ps2 led mouse, it works fine under wine/crossover apps.

This is easily achievable through any of the 5 or so methods (some subtly implied) on the X.Org wiki page on pointer acceleration. However, they also disable velocity scaling.I don't want a 1:1 mapping between device and screen coordinates. I want a 1:N mapping where N is a constant.

Mar 4, 2010I'm trying to configure my Wacom tablet in Ubuntu (9.4) and it's working pretty well!
I have one issue though.
In Windows (with the Wacom drivers) I have the option to set both Mouse Speed and Mouse Acceleration (see attached screen shot). I normally like to increase acceleration and decrease speed.
In Linux (with xsetwacom) I can only find one, SpeedLevel. Is it so, or are there any other way to configure it?

Jun 21, 2011I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and I have a Logitech MX518 mouse. I see that the Logitech SetPoint software is only for Windows, but I am not able to get the exact mouse behavior that I want through the Mouse settings in Ubuntu.
I want acceleration disabled, so I put the slider all the way to the left for acceleration. I then move the slider for mouse sensitivity, but I didn't notice a change in cursor speed. How can I modify my mouse to not use acceleration but adjust the speed of the cursor? Is there a special app I can install for this?

Here it seems as if the mouse is recognized twice, once as a mouse and once as a keyboard, where it says "Cooler Master Storm Havoc Mouse: (accel) keeping acceleration scheme 1" so I'm wondering if this is what causing the problem with mouse acceleration not working.
However my USB headset also seems to be recognized as a keyboard in the xorg log, but it works just fine. In xinput list and xfce mouse settings, the mouse is listed twice and even the keyboard is listed as a mouse.

Sep 8, 2010It seems pam_ldap in 11.2 is not case insensitive anymore when it comes to checking usernames with uid from ldap.It is working fine on 11.1 though (both systems with latest updates up to now)(I didn't try 11.3 yet)On our ldap server (which is out of my control), the usernames are not unified, some are all in lowercase and some are capitalized, but on our Linux servers we have all usernames in lowercase.
Since our upgrade to 11.2, the users that their uid on ldap server does not match exactly to the username on Linux servers can not login anymore. Is there any option to change this behavior and force pam_ldap to be case-insensitive or convert uid/usernames to lowercase?

Feb 28, 2010I have a Broadcom based PCMCIA wifi card that works great on an older kernel in Debian after a friend of mine did the fwcutter business.
I just installed Backtrack 4 release version on another laptop. While this card works right out of the box the sensitivity is greatly reduced. The built in wifi card (Intel chipset) can see twice as many APs at any given time.
Now, I know that Broadcom chipsets are not the best but this card normally has fantastic sensitivity and Tx power plus an external antenna connector so I really need to get it working properly. When it's working properly under Linux or Windows it blows the competition away.
General :: Touchpad Sensitivity Scales To Virtual Screen Dimensions?
Jul 11, 2011I am experimenting with attaching a second monitor to my Ubuntu Natty laptop, and I have noticed an annoying "feature" that makes any multi-monitor setup so unusable that I actually prefer my single-monitor laptop setup. It appears that the system automatically "scales" the X- and Y-axis sensitivity of the touchpad to match the dimensions of the "virtual" screen that spans across multiple monitors. This is best illustrated with an example. If I set up two monitors side-by-side, the touchpad's X-axis speed is doubled, so that moving my finger the same distance on the touchpad causes the mouse on the screen to move twice as far in the X direction as it did when I had only a single monitor. Yet the Y-axis sensitivity remains unchanged, so all diagonal mouse movements end up at the wrong angle. This makes the touchpad almost completely useless, since the mouse on the screen does not move in the same direction as my hand on the pad.
Is there anything I can do about this? I just want the X- and Y-axis speeds to be identical, and I definitely don't want my mouse sensitivity changing because I added a screen. The touchpad is a Synaptics touchpad, by the way. The laptop is a Dell M1330 with an nVidia graphics card.

Jul 15, 2010In testing that all my bits of hardware work I have come to my 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator. The hardware is virtually new and works absolutely fine in XP (that is what I am trying to escape from).
When the spacenavigator is plugged in it works absolutely fine so long as I move the thing with a soft feather. It is so sensitive that it is un-useable.My problem is that although the system has recognised it and has it in the hardware scan in YaST but nowhere can I find any way to change the sensitivity settings and button functions.
