Ubuntu :: OpenBVE Dependencies Cannot Be Resolved?

Feb 13, 2011

I've been downloading some new games from the Ubuntu Software Center today.

I tried to install OpenBVE (a railroad simulator) and got the error: "Package dependencies cannot be resolved".

The OpenBVE site mentions dependencies, but is a little unclear on exactly what I need and exactly where to download them.

Ubuntu :: OpenJDK Java 6 Runtime - Package Dependencies Cannot Be Resolved

Aug 26, 2010

I'm trying to install Open Rocket : [URL]. I don't think I have java installed. I went to software center and tried to install "OpenJDK Java 6 runtime" and it says package dependencies cannot be resolved. I tried doing sudo apt-get install through terminal and it was dependent on a long list of things:

openjdk-6-jre
openjdk-6-jre-headless
tzdata-java
tzdata

I tried to sudo apt-get each one and it led me down the list like that to a dead end.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Install Acidrip - Message - Package Dependencies Cannot Be Resolved

May 6, 2010

When I try to install Acidrip I get this message: Package Dependencies Cannot Be Resolved.

Trying to install Acidrip from Synaptic I'm told: Could not intsall or upgrade package. With this additional information:
Depends: mplayer but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mencoder but it is not going to be installed

So, I try to install mplayer and get this message:
Depends: mplayer-nogui but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libx264-67 (>=1:0.svn20090502) but it is not installable

I try to install mplayer-nogui and get:
Depends: libx264-67 (>=1:0.svn20090502) but it is not installable

Now I'm stuck in a point where I can go no further. I really like AcidRip and have been using it for more than two years through all of the upgrades until Lucid.

I've tried installing all of the non-free codecs, both audio and video with no result.

Ubuntu Networking :: Anything Wrong With NIC / Is This Something That Can Be Resolved Via Command Line?

Sep 1, 2010

I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.4.1 on a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop. When connected to the network (jack in wall, no router), I normally navigate my intranet and the internet. But here's the issue: this particular Dell machine has an IP addresses that is radically different from all other machines connected to the same network.I have tried to edit etc/network/interfaces to force a different IP, but then I lose connectivity. I need this to follow the IP scheme of my intranet so I can set up a server that resolves by hostname. Is there anything wrong with the NIC or is this something that can be resolved via command line?

Server :: BIND - Subdomain Names Not Getting Resolved?

Jun 14, 2011

BackgroundI have registered a domain name "abc.mobi" with domainit. abc.mobi is pointed to our mail server which is running at 199.2.2.2 (fake address). All mails that are being delivered to kazmi@abc.mobi have no problem getting delivered. We can also send emails out to other domains.I have recently configured BIND 9.3.6 on the same server (running CentOS) that is running our mail server. The purpose is to make sub domain dynamically without getting domainit involved. These subdomains will have incoming and outgoing emails as well. For example, I would want to make a usable subdomain "xyz" under abc and have kazmi@xyz.abc.mobi email address.

I have configured abc.mobi.hosts file as follows
(/var/named/chroot/var/named/abc.mobi.hosts)

Networking :: Cable Modem - Losing Connection - Resolved By DHCP Request

Dec 12, 2010

Running 2.6.29-gentoo-r1 on a Sun Ultrasparc 10 with a Sun Happy Meal on eth0 connected directly to my cable modem. Intermittently, with a frequency between a few hours and a few days, I lose internet connectivity. Running ifconfig eth0 indicates all is well and I have a valid IP address but I cannot even ping the cable modem's management address; pings to 127.0.0.1 and eth0's IP address do get a reply but no other address I've tried does. I can 'fix' the problem by issuing

Code:

If I check the CM logs, it appears that it has rebooted itself prior to the loss of connectivity. The strange thing is that the incoming traffic doesn't seem to be affected by this, my PSAD log is full of incoming scans even during the periods when I can't connect to the net. I suspect this is an ISP problem (they own the CM);

Ubuntu :: Remove Installed Dependencies?

May 18, 2010

I searched for a hex editor in the USC, and chose to install a package called okteta. Only problem is...(I didn't realize until after it was too late to cancel)...it's a KDE package.Since it was probably one of the first (only?) KDE based app on this fresh Lucid installation, I believe about 115 (!) packages (see the list below) were installed in addition to the one I wanted. Grrrr.I then went into synaptic and removed okteta, but as I should have known, it did not remove any of the dependencies.I then looked at the dpkg logfile to see what had been installed. Here's what I found:Quote:

2010-05-18 02:27:56 install libqtcore4 <none> 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu5
2010-05-18 02:27:58 install libattica0 <none> 0.1.3-0ubuntu1

Ubuntu :: Any Way To Install Dependencies Using DPKG?

Jun 16, 2010

Is there any way to make this:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Also install dependencies for a deb file in the same way as GDebi does? Basically I have the above in a script, which I can right click in any folder and have it automatically install all debs in it. So much easier and quicker than using GDebi for each one. However, as of now, it doesn't seem to be installing dependencies, and causes broken packages.

how do I find the programs that I need to reference as options to the configure command such as: tcl, tk, zlib, xz utils, libpng, curl, tklib, itcl, itk, etc. Is there a standard directory that synaptic uses or what?

Ubuntu :: Obtaining All The Dependencies For A Package?

Mar 22, 2011

So to give a little background, I'm trying to pass wireshark(with a custom plugin) through my company's build system. The build system functions inside a change root thus all the dependencies need to located somewhere inside the chroot. Wireshark has a massive dependency tree that I couldn't possibly import manually one by one.So my question is, is there a way to conveniently import all the dependency packages somewhere on your local machine. This would mean I would just import the one folder into my change root.PS: the build-system's change-root has SMART package manager installed. But the channels it comes with are local ones(very little to choose from). So an alternative solution would be import therepositories that apt-get uses into smart and then use smarto install the packages which is monumentally easier.
