I have a similar problem with Uverse wireless.I need to load 9.04 from CD. Then to connect to ATT Uverse. Windows computers have no problem getting on the wireless network.I normally use WPA TKIP on 802.11g. It never works on my ATT 2wire router but has no problem with a cheap Frys Wireless G router. I can see all the ATT wireless networks in my area.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.

I have my server connected directly to my modem which is providing me with Internet access on eth1 and is working fine. I have dhcp and dns setup on eth0 which is connected to my router. The router shows that it is connected to the Internet but when the router gives a client computer an IP address, the client is unable to connect to the Internet but can connect to the router. I've recently set up a local development webserver using Karmic Koala. I downloaded and installed the server version of Kubuntu and have the web server working.
The problem is that for some reason, I'm no longer able to connect to the internet. I can connect to my router, and other machines in my network can VNC into the server.
I'm using an wired connection to the router and have the server set up on an internal IP of 192.168.0.100. I used to be able to connect to the internet, I downloaded and installed a load of packages etc before it stopped working.
The last thing I remember doing before it stopped working was that I installed Samba so I could share files with the other machines on the network (two Macs running Leopard and a WinXP laptop).
I got the share working - I copied a load of files to the server via the share, rebooted, and for some reason now I can't connect to the net (and other machines can't see the Samba share either.) However I can still VNC into the server.

At the moment it's facebook(nothing will load) and lifehacker(mainpage will load,but further on no news will load) First of it loads facebook after fresh install, but when i closed firefox, and reopened it, it won't load. I pinged facebook.com and it's working:S Chrome for instance loaded facebook atm, but didnt load lifehacker news aswell. Altho Windows on same machine will do it perfectly. I would like to use 100% ubuntu, but its not possible if some essential webpages won't load
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen i open one of the web browsers i use and try to load a web site it's taking to long to respond and sometimes it doesnt load the website at all. I have tried with firefox,epiphany,opera with all the same results. I am sure that this is not a problem with my internet connection because i don't have these problems with windows.Also the network manager connection settings are correct
I also tried choosing the old kernel(2.6.32.24) to boot from but no success.The problem is the same as if i am using the 2.6.32.25 kernel. The strange thing is that i can download packages from synaptic with full speed. View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't think I changed anything in my system's configuration, but I wasn't able to access most of the websites. Some loaded perfectly, but for a vast majority of them, Firefox (And every other GUI browser - I tested Opera and Chromium) just showed me a never-ending loading screen. At first I thought it was my ISP, but on the same computer when I booted up Windows XP, everything worked fine.
I then booted Ubuntu back and tried pinging the nonaccesible domains - and they all work! Even weirded - for some of the domains the page's title gets loaded, and nothing more - even in something like 30 mins time. For some, I just get "Loading..." message. And some, as said earlier, work just fine. But I can ping all of them. I wanted to ask You about that issue, but ubuntuforums.org didn't even load. I then tried to use CLI browser links and it works just fine for all my sites and here I am, writing this topic from CLI mode in Terminal.
when it boots it doesn't ask me for my password (not the one to WiFi network, but the one to 'default key base') and because of that I can't connect to my WiFi network. The network itself is working fine. So i restart my computer (sometimes I have to restart it 15-20 times) and finally Ubuntu asks me for my password I type it in and everything works fine. what should I do with this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell PowerEdge 1650 server with 3 NICs in it. I am trying to use one NIC (eth0) to connect to the internet, the second NIC (eth1) to share the internet connection to a LAN, and the third NIC (eth2) to connect to the LAN.
It is running Ubuntu server 8.10
The problem that I'm having is that NetworkManager (version 0.7.0) keeps setting eth2 as the default connection, and then I don't get any internet at all from the server.
My main goal is to be able to share files from the server to computers on the LAN. The secondary goal is to have a virtual machine hosting a Halo server, connected through eth2, so that it can host LAN games. But that is a secondary goal after I get the connections to work.
I've been looking around and finding other people who have done bits and pieces of this, but not the whole thing. I had been hoping to simply use the NetworkManger, but I don't mind editing config files.
Also I can't seem to find any good instructions on editing the /etc/network/interfaces file. The man file is incomplete, and everything seems to point back to the man file.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu (9.10) on my sisters computer. I have installed ubuntu 9.10, but when I try to boot it from hard drive, it would stop loading a bit after the logo appears. The screen would turn off while the system is still running. Live version of Ubuntu works after reports of errors. I tried to search for the problem all over the forum, and could not find a good lead to figure out the problem.
So far to figure out the problem, I verified if cd is corrupted. No issues there. Googled the problem, and seems like other users were able to install 7.04 (old posts).
Its so weird though that live version works and the installed version does not.

I haven't used linux in years, but decided to try out Ubuntu. I'm a total newb at this but it has been pretty easy to transition over from Vista. I have had no problem with it for months, and then all of a sudden my internet doesn't work. It says that it is connected to my router but i can't connect to the internet. Typical troubleshooting has not helped. Most advice I have gotten was to try installing the NDISwrapper, but Ubuntu won't let me install it without internet access (that, or the package I tried to use from my USB is messed up??).

My web browser (Firefox or any other web browsers) can't completely load the desired webpages like yahoo.com or even google.com.But as I read different blogs in this forum, I have convinced myself that there is an internet connection.= when I ping different websites, Iseem to get good responses from those sites. Only when I need to browse the webpage do get no results.= ifconfig seems to respond well enough.= even "route" shows the IP my router/gateway correctly. The problem , I think, lies on the proxy settings or the DSN.
View 3 Replies View Related Just recieved an HP 5103 that has a BCM4313 14e4 4727 wireless card. I had a heck of time finding a driver but finally did and installed it. This is on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10.
However, it seems I have to load the driver everytime and can't get it to load during boot.
This is sorta a strange problem as it also happened in Windows Vista as well, one of the reasons I tried out Linux was to fix this problem (then fell in love with it and didn't go back).
Anyway, problem is that when ever I start downloading a torrent, no matter what speed the file is downloading at - fast or slow, as soon as I open a browser and then load a website it's like my internet connection has died. "Chrome was unable to find the website" "Firefox could not load this site" ect ect.
The torrents will still keep downloading/uploading, instant messages programs still work, but websites will not load.
I work as webdeveloper and I and my co-workers have one rule - if we are done with any project, we comment them with underline at the end of the directory name. For example we have domain 'devel.domain.com' and our projects are located on projectname.devel.domain.com' . Commented project looks like thisAnd here is the problem. I can not acces subdomains ended with underline. It works last time in 9.10 (i think), but since 10.04 gives me the browser only SERVER NOT FOUND. We are using this comment-method for 7 years without problems. Why is this problem in last two editions of Ubuntu?note: there is no problem with accessing ended projects under windows or osx.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo last night I decided to install Ubuntu 10.10 using the WUBI installer, everything went well and it installed, but there was one problem. I didn't have any wireless networking options, so I scavenged this forum using google and came across on how to fix it using System -> Adminstrator -> Additional Drivers. I reset my laptop(Dell Inspiron 14R N4010 I believe) and to my success, I was able to join my network. So I took out the cable(The wired connection has worked since fresh install) and it didn't work... I updated using Synaptic Package Manager and restarted, hoping it would work, but it didn't.
