I want to run the copy of Firefox that is on the remote machine. i connect to the remote in the usual way, "ssh -X fermi", which brings up a console on the remote machine, fermi. When I type "firefox", however, it starts the copy of firefox that is on the local machine. On the remote machine, "ps aux|grep firefox" confirms that firefox is not running there. Is there a way to force execution of the remote copy?Or, can I start a local copy of firefox using the remote bookmarks, preferences, etc?

Please enter password." I entered my password, the window goes away for about 1 second, then comes back up again. With my old usb wireless adapter, it never did this.

normally in windows i just start the app, then set my browser proxy to 127.0.0.1:8080 which is where it listens for connections but so far in ubuntu i cant seem to be able to get it to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 10.10 64 bit. I have a vpn service and I'd like to configure my bittorrent client to use only the vpn link (and NOT continue through my plain-old ISP service if the vpn drops). I imagine there are a few possible approaches to this:
1.have a script that checks if ppp0 is up an terminates the bt client if not
2.configure the bt client to use only ppp0 (though I tried this with qtorrent and it switches over to eth0 if vpn drops...)
All of a sudden, none of the applications are able to connect to the internet, except the web browser. I use Google Chrome and sometimes Mozilla firefox.
There is a network proxy and I did apply the network proxy setting system wide.
Applications like Dropbox, Messenger etc stopped connecting to internet which were working very well until yesterday.
I was trying out the 11.04 live cd to see how it works with my laptop.. I cant seem to get my wifi working. My question is can I use the the network with a live cd?

my_machine---------> firewall ----------> outside world..google and etc
Now, If I am using firefox then I have configured it to use proxy server and required login details and etc. But, my eclipse, ssh, git and all those needs internet connection as well... Is there anything like which sets all details (proxy server, user name and passwd) system wide ? So that I dont have to pass it to each application...
I can launch applications via SSH on a remote wins box. the pid shows up with @:>tasklist. However, for some reason I can not access the app via its web interface after its launched. Also, the process is not showing up in the desktop gui. its like its there but not at the same time...kinda like democracy in the US...Really though, could use some help. do i need to open applications with a " run as" or something like that. I already have the user account szet on the machine.
