It should be the default on your system if you did not change the splash screen.
I have installed LibreOffice (x86) on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, and it's working great!
I'm just curious if anyone knows a quick way to make LibreOffice the default for all of the appropriate files (doc, odt, xls, ods, etc.)
I searched around in the the LibreOffice>Tools>Options, but I haven't found anything yet. I'm aware that I could right click on a ods file and use the "Open With Other Application" to set a default for that one filetype, but I figured that there's probably a way to completely switch all office file types to Libreoffice.
Whenever I want to print from Libre Office, it's default printer options are somehow set to duplex long edge (standard) and the print quality is set to economy. I want this changed to Duplex Off and print quality set to standard. I've tried setting Libre Office's printer settings (File > Printer Settings) and when that failed, I went to File > Templates > Organize > Commands button and selected Printer Settings and changed them from there. None of these worked.
Whenever I open a document, the print quality is always set to economy and duplex is on (even when it is not needed). I have to keep changing it each time I print a document. I allow my children to use this computer for homework at times and I don't want them to have to mess with the driver settings all the time (more of a chance for something to go wrong or be set incorrectly). I've also checked the printer settings from within YaST and they are all ok.
I did try changing the settings from within the CUPS interface but when I did that, I could no longer print. The system couldn't connect to port 631 anymore and I had to go into YaST again to make it reconnect to the printer port. BTW, when I looked just now at the default printer settings within CUPS, everything seems to be set right, duplex is set to off and print quality is set to standard, which is what I want. Why does Libre Office seem to be ignoring these settings? How can I fix this (easily I hope)?
I have box that I run Sid on. I haven't used if for a month or so and have found that OpenOffice is gone and appears to have been replace by LibreOffice. I have come across one other thread which noted something similar. Is LibreOffice any better than OpenOffice? I plan to purge LibreOffice and install OpenOffice back on unless there is a good reason to keep LibreOffice.

For the most part, LibreOffice opens the pptx file fine except for the fact that it is not translating certain mathematical symbols right. The .dps file is some Microsoft format. Libreoffice plays it cool. Although do get errors on the console like :-

I use to use Ubuntu and recently came to Fedora, I am not a fan of the package manager in Fedora so I am trying to install things through terminal and when I use Sudo cause that is what I am familiar with this is what it gives me.
Devon is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.

Have been having some problems with Libreoffice Writer crashing every time I try to save a file that contains any kind of multimedia (usually images) so I decided to completely remove the app and any trace of it and start again.
After complete removal I reinstalled from the Opensuse repo 3.3.1
The porblem I have now is that when I start typing in writer absolutely nothing happens. Wait approximately one minute and the text I typed appears. Try to backspac to delete or type some more and the behaviour persists.
Have I missed installation of some package?
I've customized my ubuntu setup using many themes and icon packs and now have it just the way I like it but every time I create a new user account it resets to the default interface. Is there any way to save the current configuration I have (theme, icons etc.) as default?

I looked in /etc/skel and there doesn't seem to be anything GNOME related in there; I also tried to put .gconf, .gconfd and .gnome2 from my home directory into /etc/skel and that didn't do what I wanted.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was using BitTornado and it was running so slow it was almost unholy. After some research I found out that if the yellow light was on it means I couldn't receive any incoming connections and had to open some ports on the firewall. That, my friends, is not the problem. I tried to manually open up the bittorrent port and did some other things that I can't quite remember but eventually I accidentally killed all bittorrent functionality on my laptop.
Is there any way I can reset my network and ports back to the default settings or am I utterly screwed? I'd really prefer not to have to reinstall my whole OS just to fix my bittorrent or worse, have to download on Vista *shudders*. I'd rather go back to my uber-slow bittorrent than none at all. I've tried everything I can think of, even the godlike might of Google couldn't get me out of this one. Now I am forced to bother you, all because I wanted to see a damn sci-fi film from Switzerland (Cargo[2009]).

I download Universal USB Installer and it says USB created successfully. However, when I boot from the USB the error comes up as mentioned in title... The USB has no problems because I installed 10.10 last time from the very same USB. There's nothing wrong with the procedure because I am following the officially suggested method. By default this application use the port 6081. I try to put apache on port 8080. This already works but i get varnish not running on port 80.
You can see below that varnish still listen to the default port 6081. How can i fix this?

To test another port i have also try to start Varnish on port 85.

I have restart the apache and varnish services. I have also rebooted the server but varnish will not listen on port 80 (or other non default ports). On port 6081 the application works fine. But how can i fix this ?

But why is this not working with the normal config file. Varnish are than listen to port 80. With every server reboot i need than to run this command. So i would like to use the config file.
I run Debian Squeeze on my Lenovo ThinkPad W500. Today I tried to use the expresscard slot on the device and was disappointed to find that it didn't work. A bit of digging revealed that the pciehp module was not loaded (but is required for hot-plugging these kinds of devices).Can anyone explain to me why this is the case? All other hardware on my system has had the module auto-loaded on boot-up, but why not pciehp for my expresscard slot?

I downloaded SUSE to a directory and copied that to a CD to use for running a trial on a 950 Mhz laptop. The CD does show a directory Boot and the boot directory does contain files. There is also a file named syslinux.cfg which when viewed from MS XP is identified as a configuration file for MS Office Outlook.
On boot attempts from the CD I get the Error message: No default or UI configuration directive found.Do I have an error on the D/L disk or is my proceedure not correct?
The issue is I screw up my smb.conf by SWAT and I want now the default configuration with all comments back. I started looking at the configuration files; well attempted. It asks for a login. It isn't any user or root, but apparently is admin, but IO don't ever remember setting it.
Various web search suggests it is done at compile(downloaded compiled) /installation, but I have no recollection of entering any.
There is a Redhat/Centos wrinkle ntop -set-admin-passwd=password; but that puts out a lot of lines, then hangs and has no effect.
Note, despite message(old version of ntop), it is up todate in packages.
