View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a linux server runnig oracle applications. i need to access this server from putty using ssh through internet. i did by registering my static ip with the dnydns.org and i am able to connect to the server. but now there is no security to authenticate any user as any one knowing the password can login to it.
i thought of configuring the firewall of linux server but the client ip`s are not static and they change continiously. so thought of keeping one more pc between the server and the router which will do the work of authenticating. but i am confuse as how to configure it to allow the packets coming from the internet after authenticating and to by pass the packets generated from internal LAN?
i got major problems with mencoder.I work like this.1.) Demux Audio.2.) 2 Passes Encode. The second Encode includes the Audio. And there i got the problem:Too many audio packets in the buffer: (4100 in 1043395 bytes).Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or the codec failed? For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option.I tried likely anything possible. How to fix that ?Before that i got the issue with demuxing the audio where i got a massive amount of "Too many buffered pts" errors. I overcame this by adding the nocorrect-pts option.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running a slightly upgraded Dell Inspiron B120 with 2 Gig RAM, 200 Gig HD. I recently switched this laptop from XP to Ubuntu 9.10. After many a long hour, I was able to get World of Warcraft running under wine but its slow to the point of being unplayable. I was used to slow gameplay on this laptop under XP, but 0 fps is a new low. Dalaran (the notoriously laggiest place in the game) is a joke. There's a 5-10 sec lag between hitting the button to move and actually going anywhere. I took all the video settings down to the minimum and did a regedit to add a key for wine.
Basically I tried all the tips and tricks I could find (including creating an xorg.conf file since I didn't have one). Nothing I did worked. I can be in the most remote, unpopulated spot in the game and I can't get more than 3fps. Somewhere I read that I should install a proprietary driver for my video card (intel GMA 900). So I went out and downloaded xf86-video-intel-2.10.0 and ran the configure script that came with it. It came back and said
Code:
No package 'xorg-server' found
No package 'xproto' found
No package 'fontsproto' found
so I went out and found Xorg-Server-1.7.1 and ran its configure script which gave me
Code:
No package 'x11' found
I tried setting $PKG_CONFIG_PATH to /etc/X11/ with no joy.
Now I am new to linux but in poking around the file system I did see /etc/X11/ which had some stuff in it. To me that says that I've got X11 installed but then again I've been using linux since breakfast so what do I know? What do I need to do to install a proprietary video driver -OR- what can I do to get the game running well enough to be playable (short of walking over to my windows desktop computer)?
I am attempting to make a video machine only... which mean I have a Compaq 6435cl and I have installed the latest verion of ubuntu on it. All I want this machine to do is play video from off the net on my LCD HD TV. The video on board was all choppy when going into full screen mode so I put in a 3dfx Voodoo card and the same thing happens. I cannot figure out how to install the drivers for this card in ubuntu so I was wondering if I should by a new video card. Do you have a recomended video card for ubuntu that would push HD video?

I have loaded 9.10 ( 64 bit ) under VMWare Workstation 6.5 and each new install results in fast audio ( mp3 ) and video ( avi, mpg, etc ) playback. I am trying to keep the installs as vanilla as possible. My other VM distros are fine.
I am creating the VMs under vista x64, SP1 ( now updated to SP2 ), using workstation 6.5 ( will upgrade to 7 later on ).
I tried to run the XBMC live disc but could not fully boot. Each time I could only get to a command prompt after the XBMC splash screen with spinning circle. So I thought, "Maybe because my computer is sort of old (Pentium 4, 2.26 Ghz, 512 RAM) it doesn't like the XBMC Live disc. It will probably work if I install to the HDD." I installed it only to get the same result, XBMC splash screen then loading of command prompt. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is the computer compatible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to install Handbrake (video converter) but its not in main repositories. So i went here and here to try and find a way to add the PPA. I got more or less the same error both times:

I want to watch a certain video on [url]...., but I get an error message instead. Some videos can be played, so I'm thinking it's a form of restriction, but I can't be sure.I tried using a few proxies, but on some the error message persists and on others the video doesn't load. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 and Firefox 3.5.8.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I play large HD videos in mplayer, the video and sound frequently get out of sync, and the video plays a little strangely (occasionally speeding up and occasionally slowing down).
I think it's because mplayer is only running on a single core. As I've got a quad-core processor, it seems inefficient. I've seen that there is theoretically a way to get mplayer to work with multicore setups, but it requires compiling with different options. That'd take me a little while to work through.
Ideally there would be a pre-compiled version in the software centre, or a player which has support built in (again, ideally in the software centre). Is there such a thing available?
is this possible? Or does one have to use the binary blobs?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a video file in which the audio runs faster than the video, so they quickly go out of sync. The way to fix it would be to separate the audio and video streams, speed up the video (the audio is FINE, it's the video that's wrong), and then recombining them. What is the easiest way for doing that?
View 7 Replies View Relatedvideo playback is like I have applied a blueish sepia filter over it. And this is just the playback from totem player or mplayer, and not the playback from ..... (and generally online streaming) - this works just fine. this messy video playback also appears when I use cheese to capture video with my webcam. Note that the preview picture of the video file on nautilus has the natural colours it should have.
at first when I installed the os this particular problem didn't exist, but it came up the time I decided to follow the "comprehensive multimedia guide". So now I have all the pros of following the guide, but this is a major con...
this happens with both VLC and Totem, when in either of those programs playing a video, if I click on one of the top menus, say View in Totem, the video stays on top of the drop down options. In order to see the options I have to hover over them with the mouse at which point they become momentarily visible. I read a post somewhere where someone had a similar problem and it was solved by reinstalling Compiz, but I've tried uninstalling it entirely, reinstalling it, etc. and none of it works. It doesn't happen with flash videos in firefox, it does happen with visualisations in Totem, and it only started happening since I upgraded to 11.04.

I have previously used Cinelerra-cv (on Karmic) and recently Openshot (on Lucid) with not much trouble. I have been sampling other video editors (Kdenlive, avidemux, kino etc). I am setting up a MythTV environment to switch from Windows based MediaPortal (with a high number of disturbing bugs). Yet, I have three difficulties, which I want to discuss with you. They are:
- No audio via HDMI see [URL]
- Video resolution seems to change during video playback
- Channels cannot be found via DVB-S [URL]
As you can see, I have created three posts to keep discussions focused.
Alltogether I have the following setup:
- AMD 5050e CPU
- 8 GByte RAM
- Biostar TA890GXE
- Samsung LE40M86BD, connected via HDMI (and only HDMI)
- Mythbuntu 10.10 with proprietary drivers installed
- Technisat Skystar HD2 DVB-S card (two times)
Now, here is the problem:
Whenever I playback any video material using e.g. VLC, the screen resolution changes. This also applies when playback the video in a window and not fullscreen. The problem is that whenever the screen resolution changes, short time later the TV set blanks screen and show the TV set specific information "unsupported video mode".
How can I enforce to stay in the configured video mode?

1.aptitude install libdrm libva.
2.compile or find the .deb mplayer-vaapi and install it.
3.add -vo vaapi -va vaapi to the mplayer command line in gnome-mplayer.
My question : is that correct or did I miss something? Do I have to compile latest libdrm and libva or the ones from the squeeze repo will be good? Do I need kms enabled, i.e. install firmware-linux-nonfree?
OpenSUSE 11.1, 64 bit, 2 cores, intel graphics, 4 GB of RAM:_no_ problems
OpenSUSE 11.4, 64 bit, 4 cores, nvidia graphics, 16 GB of RAM:
Problem is very similar to: Problems playing mkv HD films in opensuse but not windows but with enough differences that I start a new thread:
* playback in VLC does not work -- there is only sound
* playback in SMplayer works, however -- when I scroll forward, the video freezes and sound continues, to unfreeze video I have scroll a tiny bit backward
I tried changing the video ouput driver (in SMplayer) from xv to xv/noveu-nvidia, it didn't help. Please note, that I use the same settings (initially) as before in OS11.1.
