1-When entering a music CD, video or files, any programs or music or video players and desktop are closed are removed all the icons and I can not open any program only on firefox, I can not see the files or anything . (NOTE CD-rom is in mint condition)
2-I graphics effects ruin the entire desktop and when it is in fact no graphic still looks bad everything looks pixelated or striped like when flex is damaged or something is damaged and is in perfect condition.
Now I'm going with the version 10.04 of ubuntu:
1-I have the same problem with the CD I had in 9.10, except that in the 10/04 I can open some programs with the Emphaty and monitor systems.
2-When you close the laptop when I open the screen looks as if the flex embers damaged or broken screen (when it is of course) and I have no other to reset it.
3-When you drive about 30 minutes using computed with any open programs (Firefox, Emphaty, emesene, movie player, Gnome player) to close it or minimize it gets super slow and sometimes if I Friza and then to turn it off and repeat history.
4-When I'm watching a movie or a video with movie player is super slow (just what I'm playing does not the OS) as if Lageado and stuff. But with Gnome looks pretty good player just the video looks very small and I can not put it full screen. Certainly in a Dell Latitude C610 Pentium III-Processor: 1000/700mhz-Memory: 512MB Graphics-Card: 16mb.
Wich software are the best for music making and mixing on Linux? Something equal to Traktor or VirtualDJ on win?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install a program which requires Java VM. The installer is a install.bin file, coming with a eclipse folder; in this folder, you can find a "jre" directory. I also installed Coconut Java virtual machine, as well as OpenJDK Java 6 runtime environment. However, I still can't install the program. Executing the installer gives me this error message:

No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH environment variable. You must install a VM prior to running this program. I think I should make Java VM available to the installer somehow, but I don't know how. I tried searching online but couldn't figure out the answer. Please help.
I heard from my friend that i could launch programs and make them use different network interface instead of default (USB0 [3g connection] instead of ETH0 [normal ADSL connection..])I tried to google for a while and ask around in IRC, no luck so far.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had an awkward problem lately: every music player I use wants to instead of play music from my USB external hard drive, stream music from it. I have no idea why it suddenly started doing that. It may have been an accidental key-combo I pressed, thinking I had another window targeted and didn't bother pressing it again for my Totem music player. So I closed out of Totem in hopes that Rythmbox would work like totem used to. Well, it doesn't. It wants to stream music now.The problem with the streaming music is trivial, but here it is: I have a playlist with a little over 300 songs. I have Totem set to shuffle and repeat my music. Streaming music with it makes it just stop randomly after a few songs, and when I try to pause music and play it later it takes a good 30 seconds before it kicks back in at the beginning of the song.Like I always ask because I don't know enough to give back to the community yet, can anyone help me? In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.

Now I use Ardour to record the services and Jack Rack for effects (DC offset, compression, limiting and gate.) I'm wanting to make a script that will launch and start Jack, launch Jack Rack then open a saved rack and then launch Ardour and open a saved session. Now the only issue that I can find is Jack Rack has this random number under the jack connections. So if I save a Ardour session with the connections set, it is ruined due to the random number that is generated by Jack Rack. Is there a way to kill that number and what is the best way to make a script to do the above?
View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to sync a bunch of files to a 5.5-gen iPod with Banshee 1.6, on Lucid. I moved the files from my friend's computer to my Sansa View via UMS transfer; just dragged and dropped. The file lengths are correct on my player. My friend used Banshee to sync the same files, from the same computer, to his iPod. In Banshee and on his iPod, the files are all shorter. The files are supposed to be approximately 30 minutes each. In Totem on my friend's computer, and on my Sansa, the first file is 33:11. In Banshee and on his iPod, it's about 17:00. Some files have been cut down to two minutes long. This has happened across multiple albums in multiple folders. Clearly the problem is Banshee, since Totem recognizes the appropriate file length.

My speakers are making continuous slight buzz sounds. I don't know why this is happening but when i am making my sound to mute all, the sound goes off. When I hear properly, it seems to be the sound of the hard-drive spinning sound, I couldn't under from where it is coming, its happening from past 4-5 days.

I have installed ubunto on an old PC with minimal hardware resources. I cannot play or even see a music cd. I go to places-computer- and see the floppy drive, files system hard drive, and the cd drive. When I insert the music cd the cd drive disappears. It sees a data cd just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Banshee v1.80 on Ubuntu 10.10 and was looking to import my music from my external HD. I pluged the HD in and copied all of the music in it to my music folder, (ALL 2,604 SONGS).I then went into banshee and set the folder for my music library to be /home/matt/Music, where i put THE 2,604 SONGS.Banshee started to scan the songs, all the way up through THE 2,604th. After it was finished i navigated to all music in the banshee side pane and there was only 394.
After some research i found that this was because only 394 of the songs actually had .mp3 or a similar extension at the end of the file name.I've spent the past hour trying to figure out how to either append the appropriate extension to all the files, or how to get banshee to see the files without any extension, to no avail.
Which music player should I use? I heard that some music players have difficulties playing certain types of music files. Is there a music player that has the fewest issues when it comes to playing music files?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been enjoying using Rhythmbox to rip a stack of CDs. Initially I had problems getting it to recognise Lame but following uninstalling and reinstalling it, it seemed to be working well. That is, until I looked in my Music folder.
It turns out files have been placed in individual folders, named "number - title.udio" (e.g.: "11 - She Can Do What She Wants.udio". The mp3 file itself is named identically throughout - it's the string for the gstreamer settings, i.e. "x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc preset=1002 ! xingmux ! id3v2muxmp3".
The settings within Rhythmbox's properties for folder and file naming are all set to the sensible default. This is a pain. In the short term I'm going to try EasyTAG to sort it out, but ultimately I need to sort this or find alternative software.
Has anyone had experience building a dedicated multimedia center? I know Its going to be ubuntu based and probably run xbmc. I've seen a pc case to use but I dont know if the remote control for it can work under ubuntu or any other distro. Has anyone had success making a remote control for an ubuntu based media center work?

I want to extract *aka rip *aka import songs from my CD to my computer.In two different formats, one being lossless format (FLAC) and lossy format (MP3).I want control over the kbps in the lossy format and I also want to remove the licensing as this creates problems when trying to copy the songs over to my mobile device.And of course, include the metadata while extracting.
This all seems fairly simple right?Well, whenever I am extracting the songs from different applications it seems like I have no control over the preferences of the application or the extracting process. There's just a start button and that's it.I have tried the "Sound-Juicer" and "Banshee".Defaults settings for Sound-Juicer extracts at 128 kbps and Banshee extracts at 160 kbps only in ogg format.In the past I have done all my cd extracting in Windows, and I would really like to move over to linux in this field.I used Winamp back in the day and was really happy with the PRO version of it. Lame Mp3 Encoder with Winamp Pro.
