I am writing from lucyd. When I insert a blank CD opens a Nautilus window that asks me what program I want to use to open the CD. The last time I chose
cd creator, and thereafter it no longer asks me what to do. How can I change this?In other words how can I choose another program to open automatically blank cds??
I've installed M$ office with Playonlinux anh it produce alot of icon in menu and ...now the problems that i open files with run which application i choose in "Open with" menu so it have alot of app from wine apps created.How can i remove them. Firefox66

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded new version 10.4 of Ubuntu and burn it on CD with power iso, gave it a try to install but after it started from cd and waited to load an error pop up and says it can not install from cd ...then i tried to start live cd and it started Ok with no problem. In live cd mode i tried install again and started well ,1to4 step ok, then at 4 step when it comes to HDD and partitions the window to choose from is blank. No HDD no partitions. but interesting is that in this Os it has partitioning tool in system tools GParted, and whit it i can see my HDD and partitions, even tried format with it a partition for Ubuntu then tried install but problem is the same = blank step 4,.. so on my pc i can not install 10.4

Doesn't seem as straightforward in KDE, but I'd like to put my dvd's in and have VLC start them, i.e. open them to their features' menu automatically as I could in Gnome Can anyone describe me the steps clearly if this can be done?When I put a dvd in so far I get the right-hand options slide up in a box which mentions Dragon Player and K3b and so on. Dragon Player sems to get stuck if you accidentally hit the touchpad in the wrong place during a film, so I'd rather keep away from it

Do you know of any dvd copying program? like without making the image and then burning with just one process just copy the disc sorta program like roxio dvd copier? I am using ubuntu 10.04 and after installing some programs using the package manager I try to open the program and all I get is the title bar and a blank white screen. I searched the forums and found a thread from awhile back saying to create a new user and see if it persists. I tried that and it does the same thing in the new user. One in particular is gnucash. The program sometimes works but the tutorial does the white screen. I also reinstalled the package several times with no luck. Other packages do the same thing like thunderbird.

This blows my mind it seems like the most "no duh" feature that everyone would need in any Cd burning program. if I am stupid or if the software developers are stupid. (because I really can't see any other options) This is seriously so important (to me), that I will abandon Linux and go back to Windows if I can't do it.

Ubuntu 10.10 is the system I'm using. Does anyone know how to fix this so it will function normally?
I'm trying to get a program to automatically reload if I accidentally close it. This is a remote access program, so it has to be relaunched without me doing anything to help it along if it crashes or I accidentally close it. I noticed that someone came up with a way to solve this back in 2007 [URL].. but the files don't appear to exist any more for it to work. how I might get a program to automatically reload on exit?

I have two computers, one to program the firmware on a microcontroller (command line only), and the other is my desktop machine running Ubuntu. I have an NFS share between the two. What I want is to be able to drop a new firmware load into the shared directory from the desktop, and have the other computer notice it and program the microcontroller with it. Right now I have to open an SSH session to the other computer, run the program manually, and then delete the file. I would like to automate all of that.

What I find kind of annoying is that it prints silently to ~/PDF with an automatic filename and with no feedback when it is done printing. So I have to monitor that directory manually for when a new file shows up.
What I'd like to have when I print to PDF is the output of cups-pdf piped to a pdf reader (like okular, in my case) which would open automatically when the printing is done so I can review the results and save or discard them.
I've looked through the options and tried to find documentation on cups-pdf, but I haven't found a way to make this happen yet.
