Ubuntu Multimedia :: XBMC Makes Crash Log At Exit With Natty?
May 8, 2011
Since I upgraded to Natty, XBMC produces a crash log when I exit.I have searched for forum entries but not found any. I use a Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H DDR3 AM3 board with a Athlon II X2 processor, with on-board graphics, HDMI output.
(XBMC seems to work while running, however)

I've just installed a new Debian Jessie with gnome from zero, and I have installed Xbmc on it. when I open xbmc on gnome interface, it crash and log out from gnome.
On the xbmc crash log I find several errors, browsing them on the network I didn't find anything.
here the crash log:
Code: Select all ############## XBMC CRASH LOG ############### ################ SYSTEM INFO ################ Date: Mon 14 Sep 00:15:49 CEST 2015 XBMC Options: Arch: x86_64 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u3 (2015-08-04) Release: Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) ############## END SYSTEM INFO ##############
If I start to play any kind of media file in Totem, the screen goes black, a terminal appears and flickers for a few seconds so fast I can't read it, and then the system shuts down.
I have a lot of recordings on my mythtv box.i can see/play them fine within the mythfrontend interface, and mythweb loads almost all pages ok (including schedules, guides, etc.), but when I click on 'recorded programs' at the top, Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 88 bytes) in /usr/ share/ mythtv/mythweb/includes/translate.php on line 142.I've had this error before, and it went away when I purged my list of recordings.
Since upgrading to Lucid a few days ago I'm having intermittent problems (90% of the time)with opening OpenOffice files. When I open up a spreadsheet (.ods) in OO, (whether OO was already open or not) my screens go black, then flash on and off for 30 seconds (ish) as if trying to change the refresh rate.Sometimes this results in Gnome crashing and restarting itself. it settles down and is OK. On a few occasions I have had to change terminal and manually restart gdm.
Here's my environment;
Dell Latitude D620 nVidia GeForce Go 7300 (according to hwinfo) Ubuntu Lucid 32-bit (upgraded from Jaunty) 2 GB RAM
I've got the recommended "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current)" hardware driver and the NVIDIA X Server Settings applet, which says my NVIDIA driver version is 195.36.24. I'm running dual screens (1440x900 and 1280x1024) using TwinView. After a flicker, here is what I find in the Xorg.0.log;
Code:
(II) Jun 30 12:17:42 NVIDIA(0): Setting mode (II) Jun 30 12:17:42 NVIDIA(0): "CRT:nvidia-auto-select+1440+0,DFP:nvidia-auto-select+0+124" (II) Jun 30 12:17:43 NVIDIA(0): Setting mode
Since when I upgraded OpenSuse from 10.2 to 11.3 (big jump, I know!), I can no longer use OpenOffice. When Java is Active, the OO applications crash after a few operations. Most of times they don't even start.
When run in a terminal, OO answers with errors like this:
Code: Exception in thread "Thread-1" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested 24 bytes for CHeapObj-new. Out of swap space? #
For years I've had ctrl + alt + 1-4 (keypad) as shortcuts to desktop 1-4. It's worked flawlessly under everything from Slackware, through Debian and even the gnarled mess that Ubuntu is becoming. But now, ctl + alt + 1 dumps whatever window is active on my desktop to the bottom left corner of that desktop. Ctrl + alt + 3 dumps it to the bottom right corner;A7 goes top left and you can guess the rest.
used these drivers(dident work at all without it, no lights even): [URL]
and i first tryed it out on my netbook (aao, intel atom ubuntu 10.04 32bit), i ran make, then make install, done! i pugged it in and im happly using a 300mbps wifi network.
then i try it on my desktop (custom, AMD phenom x4, ubuntu 10.04 64bit), i install, no errors, then when i plug in the wifi usb, it lights up, then stops, the mouse also stops working(bouth keyboard and mouse is usb) but the kb still works. aftor restarting keeping it pluged in, ubuntu never finishes the splash screen, just stops their, i try again without the wifi and it works, i keeped trying and now the whole comp frezes, even the kb, and i see the system monetor is also frozen, what do i do?
one last thing, it works on bouth my netbook and desktop under windows 7, only on my desktop it wont work on ubuntu.
I often connects my laptop (Asus EEE) to my HTC desire hd with the wifi hotspot. But this doesn't work since yesterday when I upgraded to 11.04. When I connect the laptop to the phone the screen on the laptop goes black with a lot of scrolling text then it freezes.
This worked out of the box without any problems with 10.10.
I just upgraded to Natty Beta 2, and when I tried to login, I was told that /tmp/2145539930/.kde/share/config/kdedrc is not writable (along with tmp/2145539930/.kde/share/config/knotifyrc is not writable). When I run ls -l, I get
I can dismiss the dialog box, and after a few seconds of delay, see a crash report that kdeinit4 seg faulted. I dismiss this and log in to see plasma not running, but I can Alt+F2 any command I wish (except plasma-desktop, it doesn't run). I already purged kdm and reinstalled, and I'm trying plasma-desktop now.
I'm having troubles with ubuntu Natty."Randomly" I'm thrown out back to the log-in page; I saw some threads online talking about xserver crashes but I didn't find any solution.I noticed it happens more often (but not always) when I use this matlab code to delete all the matlab figures.
Matlab code (not mine):
----------------------- f = findobj(0); f(f == 0) = []; set(f, 'DeleteFcn', '') f = findobj('Type', 'figure');;

I have a Radeon HD 6370M with proprietary drivers.
I installed Natty Narwhal yesterday and everything was fine.Today, however, I installed some updates.I tried restarting my computer but it never gets to the desktop. It keeps crashing and looping back, if that makes sense.I can't start in fail-safe graphics mode either.
Tried to install 11.04 with auto update aplication from 10.10, normal desctop ubuntu, it started out and downloaded fine then i walked away for a while and screensaver came on. when i moved the mouse the screensaver just froze and stayed like that. i waited a while then hard booted. when i turned it on again it had just this command prompt thing that needed my password, i dont know linux commands so it didnt get me very far. its a dual boot so at startup i can choose from a bunch of old versions of ubuntu and an xp which is what i'm on now. i was thinking i could update one of these versions?
I was going to install the Beta for Ubuntu 11.04 using the command update-manager -d. Everything went fine accept the fact that I had maybe two other programs running the same time as the update wich made my computer performance get really high wich ended in overheating and that my computer (using a laptop, of course) shut off. When I started my laptop again it will not go any further than the Ubuntu start screen saying something like "The device / cannot be found or is not ready yet". Can I all my files although I haven't done any backup?
Whenever I'm browsing the web on one of my natty machines, I'm subject to periodic reboots that leave nothing in the syslog. Here's the two constants I've discovered thus far.
It only happens when I'm using a browser (plugin?). It doesn't matter whether I'm in Chromium or Firefox. It doesn't matter whether I use Unity or Gnome 2. This happens every 2-3 days from what I can tell. This problem is not power related because I've tested it with and without an UPS present.
The computer does a full reboot without any shutdown procedure.
The configuration of this computer is as follows: Intel i3 2100 ECS H67 Dual Nic Haupaugge Dual ATSC Tuner MDADM RAID 10 8GB 1333MHz (MemTested)
The browser plugins are as follows: Flash 10.3r181 VLC Multimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.32.0) Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem) DivX Web Player version 1.4.0.233 QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.6
started getting errors from software centre, synaptic and updater that halevt is giving error "exit status 100" Tried reinstalling halevt by software centre, synaptic, and terminal without any luck.
i'm using lucid and have ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB graphics card. I installed ATI's drivers and XBMC used to work perfectly, but now after i disabled them and activated them again i have this problem:
Quote:
igor@igor-desktop:~$ xbmc /usr/share/themes/MurrinaLoveGray/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:50: Murrine configuration option "scrollbar_color" is no longer supported and will be ignored. XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server "." after 137 requests (136 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
When i start it,i see very strange image, like hundreds of rectangles with parts of images from games, applications, even parts of my Windows desktop (which is on another partition). And after 2-3 seconds,it exits.
I recently installed XBMC and Boxee on my Linux laptop, but neither of them are connecting to the internet. Since I'd like to try XBMC first, I'll talk about that here. When I run the program, I do not have a Live TV icon or link on the side. I can see my Music, Programs, Settings, Pictures, Video and Weather links on the sidebar, but my Weather page is blank as in I do not see any weather forecasts or whatever else ought to be on that page. I thought that maybe since I was running XBMC as a user there might be some permissions issues, so I ran "sudo xbmc" and received an error message "Do_Wait: DRMWaitBlank returned -1, IRQs Don't Seem to be working correctly. Try adjusting the vBlank_mode configuration parameter." No idea what that means. I've tried connecting both via Ethernet and my WiFi.
I am really having a tough time getting my MCE remote to work with XBMC. I have got to the point where sometimes it work but then it gets VERY sluggish and my system crashes.
Code: #This configuration has been automatically generated via #the Ubuntu LIRC package maintainer scripts. #It includes the default configuration for the remote and/or #transmitter that you have selected during package installation.
I am wondering if there is a way to check how much cpu does xbmc use. I am asking because xbmc always run in full screen and I am not sure how to access system information or the terminal when it is running.
28/12/2009 I installed Ubuntu minimal AMD64 and followed the following guide to install it as an HTPC using XBMC. Note that that date was after XBMC's 9.11 official release.[URL]...give and take really minor adaptions, since the guide is not entirely 1 on 1. The process installed XBMC Beta 1 though.
Now, when I do: - sudo apt-get update / upgrade The result is: Code: The following packages have been kept back:
[Code]...
libsdl1.2debian-alsa: Conflicts: libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio but 1.2.13-4ubuntu4 is to be installed.libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio: Conflicts: libsdl1.2debian-alsa but 1.2.13-4ubuntu4 is installed. sudo aptitude -> g -> results in a list of 45 files which will be automatically removed. Some of these are libvdpau1, pkg-config, pmount, xinit, xserver-common, xserver-xorg, *-core, *-input-all, *-evdev, *-mouse, *-synaptics etc. A lot of which are needed as aptitude reports by the package xbmc-common, which I suppose XBMC needs to operate.
I do not want to "autoremove". I did that before and that resulted in having a corrupted system and hence the new installation of 28/12. Any idea what is wrong? Why wasn't the official release installed and was Beta1 chosen instead? Why does Aptitude propose to have all these necessary packages deleted? And of course, why am I not able to upgrade to XBMC's latest and final version? How can I?
thought I'd take the plunge and use it as the OS for a new HTPS running XBMC. I installed a second 1TB HDD to use as a media tank that I formatted to NTFS. All is well except I cannot get XBMC to see the second drive. Its mounted and I can access it no worries, but when I go into Videos,> add source, > i'm given the home folder and my network as options, neither of which have the second drive on them. (my windows network can see the second drive but it doesn't appear as an option in XBMC
I've also posted this on XBMC forumsut also posting here to see if anyone else has an idea...I've done a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04I'm running a Zotac Nvidia IONITX-F 330 motherboard with 4Gb ramNvidia drivers 195.36.24I've got XBMC from the SVN and compiled it. (revision 29717)here's the xbmc log file: http://ubuntu.pastebin.com/MD2b23RhIf I start xbmc from a terminal window, all I see is a black screen with the cursor. To stop it i have to run
Code: killall xbmc.bin Heres the output from the terminal window:
I know it's old lol but probably better than the onboard graphics. The computer is a Compaq Presario sr1403wm. I checked proprietary drivers and there are none available. The graphics run smooth on the desktop and I don't have Compiz enabled. is the graphics card just too old for XBMC? Weird thing is, I also have the same problem in Ubuntu on my good desktop when it's connected to my TV. Just using a normal VGA cable. If I have it connected to my computer monitor using a DVI cable, there's no problem. The only thing I thought of was maybe the resolution was too high, but that made no difference with either computer. If this computer is too old for XBMC, what would be second best in line? MythTV? Doesn't need TV capabilities. Just to watch what's already on the computer. I just really like the XBMC interface and the fact that I can boot right into the interface and of course all the cool plugins and whatnot.
Alright, the lifehacker article about this Acer machine got me interested in revisiting XBMC as a media center. I bought the AR1600-U910H from Newegg and have been struggling for a couple of weeks to get it working correctly. I opted to install a full Ubuntu desktop to utilize the hardware fully with a standalone version of XBMC. I am currently running Lucid with NVIDIA 256.25 (was running 195 series) driver. Switched to 256 because I heard it fixes the no multi-channel output problem. However, sadly I can't get multi-channel out to work. I have the HDMI output going through my Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver for both audio and video. My problem is I can only get stereo sound out while running XBMC (or any application for that matter).
I've upgraded Alsa to 1.0.23. I've installed new Beta 256.25 NVIDIA driver. I've configured Alsa about 28 different times. I'm at my wits end. So, my question is - does anybody having a similar setup with the ION chip (or the Acer Aspire Revo in particular) where they can succesfully get HDMI digital audio pass through to a receiver (or at least digital multi channel out)? The best I've gotten is 2 channel audio, which doesn't do a lot of good on a 5.1 setup. If I would have known getting multichannel audio would be so difficult I would have rethought starting this endeavor. I don't care if I have to do a fresh reinstall of everything - if that means a different version Ubuntu so be it.
I regularly use XBMC on my htpc. Everything seems to work just fine except that I cannot watch DVDs with it. It just never detects a DVD. If I insert a DVD with XBMC running, it just lets me browse the files. If I select the video files it plays some of them (depending on the DVD apparently). If I click on the play button it says that no disk is detected. There is nothing that I can see in the log file and seems relevant. I really don't know what to do. The computer is an HP z555. I just modified it by adding more ram and I changed the video card for an NVIDIA 8400GS. It is running Ubuntu Lucid and XBMC 9.11 installed from the PPA repository. The dvds play well with totem, vlc and mplayer
