I am using openSUSE 11.0. This OS installation gives firefox 3.0.5 Beta. I had installed new version of firefox at /usr/local/bin/firefox. I had placed link of this firefox at /usr/bin using this command ->
Code:
linux-snvz:/usr/bin # ln -s /usr/local/bin/firefox/firefox firefox My older firefox contains the flush plugin. So i can easily played ..... video's in my browser. But now my new browser saying that it doesn't have flash plugin. I was tried to install flash plugin once again.
[Code]...
Even after installation also my browser is again without flash plugin.
I have recently install Blender on my system (squeeze, 2.6.32-5-amd64, ATI Radeon HD 3100) and when I try and start it I get a segmentation fault. I am using the proprietary driver. When i run glxinfo or glxgears I get a segmentation fault as well which makes me think I have an issue with my hardware acceleration.
I am really suck when it comes to trying to diagnose the problem any further and would appreciate any help you guys have. My system is up to date and Blender has worked before on an almost identical setup (i reinstall debian a while back, may have been using a slightly older kernel then).
I have just installed the newest version of ubuntu (10.10 the maverick meerkat) and im struggling installing any programs, wine and vlc arnt appearing on synaptic package manager and anything i try to do in either the command promt or ubuntu software centre doesnt work either. On the command promt when i follow the commands as seen on various tutourials the command promt comes back with an error. VLC example given below.

So I've been using Rhythmbox and Gnome Do for quite some time now, and this problem has persisted for about as long
So I've got the Rhythmbox plugin enabled in Gnome Do. Awesome. I can invoke Gnome Do (Super + Space on my system) and start typing up some music I want to hear. This morning I wanted to listen to Buck 65's album Vertex. So I start typing "Buck 65" and the artist is listed in Gnome Do as expected.
I hit the right arrow to see a listing of his albums. I arrow down to Vertex and press Enter. What I expect is that Rhythmbox will start playing that album. However, there is simply no effect. This occurs at all levels of music browsing with Gnome Do. I can select an artist, album, or specific song, and no matter what I select, Rhythmbox doesn't respond at all. This is true if Rhythmbox is already running or not, whether it's already playing music or not. There's just no effect.
In short, Gnome Do correctly sees Rhythmbox's index of my music, and I can traverse the artists, etc with it just fine, but it will not actually make Rhythmbox play that music.
That said, other functions of the Rhythmbox plugin work fine. I can pause and play music just fine using Gnome Do.
I did a clean install and mounted my user folders/partitions back after removing everything else from the Home drive to ensure no incompatible leftovers from Maverick. Now, I am dissapointed to see that I can't get blur on my transparent windows. This worked like a charm in Maverick and it looked brilliant but now it's often hard to tell windows apart if there are windows below the active one. So I had to turn down transparency... I have D-bus enabled, proprietary drivers installed and I have been Google-searching like crazy to find a solution. None.. Do any of you know the status of this plugin in Natty? Should it work, does it? Or not?I have Focus blur activated and working, it helps but not enough. My videocard is Radeon HD 4650 (AGP).
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt seems that there is no way for me to install java plugin in firefox 3.6. I've already read some threads about similar problems but none of the solutions that worked for other people work for me. So I decided to open a new thread. Following instructions of other threads, I uninstalled all java packages and installed again just the three that you can see below, but nothing changed.

i installed the adobe flash plugin (for linux) following adobe's instructions (download, decompress, and copy the correct ".so" to the plugins directory).
however, the plugin is not detected by either videos or firefox (checked using "aboutlugins"). something must be wrong with adobe's plugin version 10.x!
i want to try a firefox extension called "download videos videos as mp4 and flv," which rewrites the videos pages to include a download button which allows you to directly download the video in mp4. however, it requires vlc media player on linux.
i have slackware, and followed the instructions on this page [url] to use the slackbuild from alienbob. i set require_yasm=no.
however, the build produces the errors below (it tries to build with yasm, and it doesn't find "libvpx.a"):

I followed the instructions here:

But the checkbox to enable it in gedit becomes grayed out once I click it and it doesn't enable. (note that I used "pip install ElasticTabstops" instead of "easy_install ElasticTabstops", because that's what Arch uses)
On Ubuntu 10.04, Synaptic indicates that current version {10.0.32.18-1(now) for AdobeFlash plugin} is latest but websites appear to indicate that latest version is 10.0.45-1. Synaptic Upgrade button is grayed and I am stuck! All came about by accessing following site: [URL]... Had to revert to Firefox on XP (!) to see diagram. Is there a more current (latest) version for Firefox under Ubuntu 10.04 and if so, how do I go about installing it? I tried to download and got a "Status: Error: Conflicts with installed package 'flashplugin installer'" when I clicked on the .deb file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis will be my first posting here. Please forgive me for not posting this issue under the right place on the forum. I highly ask to the mod/admins to move this post to the correct location if needed to be, or let it continue as normal. My problem here is with this software blender 2.56a, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10. 64bit This version of blender worked just fine for me since it updated to my computer. But right after finishing an complex render, blender crashed and will not start up again.
Every time I click on the icon it just keeps flashing up and crashing down. So I went to the main blender site, and downloaded one of their stand alone version of the 2.56a. I ran it and it works just fine.
I tried reinstalling blender 2.56a under Synaptic, but no use. I'm out of ideas, I want this software to run like it use to. Again, It use to run without any problems, but just under one hard render it crashed, and Now it wont launch again.
However, I did mange to get my project to render just find under the stand alone. If any one needs some sort of debugging file, or information of some kind. I would then need to know how to re-chieve it..
I installed the greasemonkey script "..... without flash auto" to replace the ..... player with the default totem plug-in in firefox. The script is awesome because now I don't get bogged down with flash when watching ......
Everything works as expected, but the problem is that the plugin doesn't stream, I have to wait until the video finishes loading before I can play it. Ironically, if i don't use the plugin and directly open the video cache in /tmp with totem, it was able to play even when the video wasn't finished loading.
I am not sure if this is normal, but I find it a huge annoyance. Does anyone else running this script have the same problem? I don't know if it is the script, the plugin, or my configs in general. A push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
im running Xubuntu 10.04 btw
The symptom is that I can't no more listen to my favorite Web Radio [URL] if you want get a try, very good music: ). It's a steaming with the url like "mms://web-stite-broadcasting". I swear few upgrades ago it was working. I can't remember when exactly stopped, probably with the last firefox update. What happen? I can see the Totem Browser Plugin 2.30.2 loading and then..."Stopped", he says. If I click on "open with Movie Player", Totem starts and give the error "Could Not Write to resource".
Beside curse my browser I purged/reinstalled firefox and some plugins without success. The odd thing is that other web radios seems to play when, as I can see, the (in)famous plugin-container is not executed, I don't know why.
I put kmod for nvidia driver on my Fedora 9 ! I update kernel and now when i try to start blender i have this errors :

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Banshee's alarm plugin installed. From Banshee's menu, I click on Tools → Alarm Clock → Sleep Timer. The timer looks like it should be set according to 24-hour time, so I set it for 2 minutes past the current time and click "Okay". The timer doesn't turn off the music when the designated time comes and goes. Thinking that maybe it's a countdown timer, I just set the thing to 2 minutes, but 2 minutes later the music keeps playing on and on. I go Tools → Alarm Clock → Alarm and put a check mark in "Enable Alarm" and try the sleep timer again, but still it doesn't work. I'm running 10.04 64-bit.

If I have pulseaudio started in some way, applications that I suppose do not use it like spotify or flash player stops to produce sounds. I'm trying to switch from debian to fedora (13) and I'm stuck at getting yum to remove leave dependencies.
So far I've installed "yum-plugin-remove-with-leaves" and I'm able to remove leave dependencies if I invoke yum with the "--remove-leaves" argument from command line.
But this doesn't work with graphical front ends and I want to remove unused leave dependencies every time if I remove a package not just if I remember to invoke yum with the "--remove-leaves" argument.
Later on I discovered an option in "/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/remove-with-leaves.conf" named "remove_always = 1" and uncommented it. But yum doesn't seem to care. I still need to add the "--remove-leaves" argument otherwise yum isn't going to remove the leave dependencies.
How to configure yum to handle dependencies the way I used to know from apt under debian? Install a package with a graphical front end and dependencies get pulled in as needed. Uninstall a package later on and dependencies installed in the first place are removed as well if not needed by anything installed in between.
I hope this is the right forum for this.
I downloaded Blender today to try my hand at making some 3D graphics. I have used it in the past on a windows machine and it ran smoothly. This time I have downloaded it onto a computer with similar specs but it runs very slowly. The program is laggy and slow to respond to both keyboard and mouse input. When I checked the system monitor it said that I am using 50% of my cpu and 1/6th of my memory running both Blender and Firefox(to write this post). The machine is running no hotter than usual and the fans do not seem to be being stressed at all.
Does anyone know what could be causing the program to run so slowly?
I'm running Natty with the official Blender 2.57 32-bit build. This same problem occurs with previous version of Blender and Ubuntu, although not with Blender 2.4x or any other programs.Pressing the control key does nothing in Blender. Pressing 'Ctrl+S' causes the active object to scale, as if I just pressed 'S'. If I run 'killall gnome-settings-daemon', it temporarily works normally, but then I lose Gtk themes and icons and stuff.
I'm on a Dell Latitude D620, and I haven't messed with any keyboard settings.I know people using the same hardware and OS that can use Blender fine, so I'm guessing there's some sort of xinput configuration or something that got messed up somehow.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble using Blender and XBMC after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10. Whenever I start the Game Engine mode in Blender (by pressing 'P'), Blender crashes. This happens both in the repository version (2.49.2) and with the newest version (2.54 beta).
For some reason, xbmc actually starts without problems now, but earlier the console output was somewhat similar to that of Blender. The output from Blender seems to indicate that there is something wrong with either libc6 or the NVIDIA drivers. The xbmc output (which now works ok) mentioned something about /lib/nvidia-current/libGL.so, if I remember correctly.
The output at crash is as follows:
