I have used Thoggen; however, there is no way to break the output in to multiple files. I encoded at 1000MB, but now I want to break the file into 40MB chunks. Is there an app that can do this? Does ffmpeg support these feature?

I have wrote a 1 line command that parses a file, locates the IP Address in the file and then trims the output the way I want it, and then sorts numerically and by uniqueness and then >> appends to output.txt
I can get all the IP's into 1 file "output.txt", but what I am really looking for is some type of way to create a text file, for each IP it finds labeled xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.txt and also put that ip address into that file..

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx. I am using the laptop to play video files and view it on TV using HDMI output. No problems. Requirement: to play simultaneously a different media file and be able to listen through say headphone / laptop speakers. While a movie audio is only heard on TV, other audio is heard only on laptop speaker.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working on some scheduled task script files to keep nightly backups of some of our database information in place, and it's a bit annoying when they blow up. I know how to redirect stdout and stderr to a flat file I can view when I come in, and I know that 2>&1 maps them both to the same file (whatever was named in 1). However, I'm running into some cron-time situations where it's easier to have the two streams together, and other cron-time situations where it's easier to have them separated. I can't really tell which is going to happen; is there some way I could create both kinds of output file for my scripts, so that I've got a std_err only file and an interleaved std_out/std_err file?
Note: I've looked at the 'tee' command, but I don't think it will work for what I'm after. 'tee' appears to only work with stdout; I'm trying to work with stderr.
Is it possible to output one playback stream to multiple devices simultaneously with the current PulseAudio / Phonon setup? The PulseAudio mixer only has radio buttons to choose one device per playback stream. I believe the hardware is capable of this, since I remember doing that before we had PulseAudio. How can I duplicate an audio stream?
Here's one application scenario: I am travelling with my family, all crammed in small hotel room. My wife and me want to watch a movie on my laptop without waking up our kids. I just happen to have one analogue headphone available and one wireless USB headset with me. (Of course, the low tech solution is to bring an 3,5mm Y-cable to attach two analogue headsets, but I would really love to use the USB headset together with the analogue one.)
Another similar thing that bugs me is that my laptop's built-in speakers now always seem dead when an analogue headphone is plugged in. This is mostly what one wants, and before PulseAudio, one had to manually switch them off which was generally annoying. However, the downside is for example with notifications.
For example, before PulseAudio, I could configure Skype to always ring over the laptop's built-in speakers, regardless of whether the analogue headphones were plugged in. This is no longer possible, since PulseAudio does not distinguish between built-in speakers and built-in analogue port any more, while old Alsa did. So in my office, where some analogue headphones are plugged into the docking station, I never hear Skype ringing if I don't wear the headphones.
I would like to create AAC files using NeroAAC.I have directories of wav files I need to encode and I cannot figure out how to do this with the neroAacEnc command on the command line. The program will not accept neroAacEnc -if *.wav -of *.aac as a valid command, though FAAC, LAME and OggEnc will accept similar commands.I lack the coding skills to write a proper script for it. I'd just like to be able to type in a command and have an entire directory converted from wavs to aacs with the Nero codec. Is this possible? If not, can it be programmed? How?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust need some quick direction with this, as I have no idea where to begin:I run irssi in screen, and have a simple script that uses notify-send when I am private messaged/hilighted/etc. It works fine, and makes KDE pop up notifications like any other stuff does. However, if I restart KDE with /etc/init.d/kdm restart, the script fails with (every time it is triggered):
Restarting irssi doesn't fix this, the entire screen session has to be dismantled. Is there a way to fix this, or at least a place to start? It's a perl script, but I have no idea where to begin. I guess on a high level, some sort of ID is changing, but is still referenced by screen?
I cant seem to get the sound working and when I click on perference then sounds and go to the output selection it has only dummy output as a option.

First how do I get HDMI audio output to my TV? I think I have just a integrated Intel graphics card. It works fine in windows but I can't seem to get it to work in Ubuntu. I tried searching but couldn't find anything pertaining to this issue.

We are working on a project to create a display wall of 8 monitors arranged as 2 high by 4 wide. Each monitor is connected to a single machine and all machines are networked with a master machine with its own, seperate monitor.
Our goal is to get the 8 machines to share a single desktop, with the master machine acting as the server. We have looked at using Xinerama or NMM, but we are unsure about how to get started configuring the multi-machine, multi-head display.
I always keep my headphones as well as my 2.1 speakers connected simultaneously on my PC (Gigabyte motherboard). Both these audio devices work fine simultaneously on my Windows 7, but in Ubuntu, only my headphones work, speakers don't work at all. I tried changing some settings in SOUND PREFERENCES as well as ALSA SOUND MIXER, but not luck so far.

I need to route or forward traffic to and output interface based on the physical interface and source IP address in the packet.I have multiple ip rules to send traffic to custom routing tables and each of those custom tables had a default route out the appropriate interface, but traffic isn't flowing. I have a program that reads in data files. These are named datafile01_R, datafile01_G, datafile01_B, they then increment, so datafile02_R etc i have about 600 of these. the program reads in 3 data sets at a time from each run, so files_01 r, g, and b.
The program then does its magic, and outputs about 40 different files, depending on the file, they gone to folders named R, G, B, psa, or tracking.
The program itself has configuration files to say where the files should gone when analyzed, there is also the config files that reads in the data sets.
At the moment i have to run one set of data, then go in and manually change the input file location, and run again. But, doing this, even though a different data set, the new set overwrites the old set in one of the output folders. So i need a way to increment the output filenames after they are written and before the program is run again with the new data set.
Currently using Nvidia driver version 195.36.31, it's the version that works with Nvidia-kernel-dkms, would updating Nvidia driver to the current 275.09.07 driver version break my setup?
