I'm starting to use Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and want to install a Java based language, Processing which uses OpenCv library to perform video issues. [URL]. I'm not familiar with the terminal but willing to be. I'm also not familiar with the file system, I mean I don't exactly know where the archives downloaded are and where they should be to be executed.

When I run a simple program with OpenCV to display the output from a camera I get the following output:

A window still opens with the output from the camera, but it seems very low quality and has far less pixels then it should. The camera built into my computer runs the same program with no problems.

One further note to make is that I still have the bad quality and low number of pixels with the logitech even when using webcam program. I can seem to find any drivers to update or anything though.
I am trying to compile OpenCV 2.0 with ffmpeg (with x264) support on my Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit machine. (Since I want to use the binaries provided by other developers, I have to use opencv 2.0 version)
I followed the guide from: [URL] to compile x264 and ffmpeg manually, and succeeded.
Then I followed the guide in the INSTALL file provided by the OpenCV 2.0 package. I use CMake to configure and generate them, and use "make" command to try compiling. However, I got the following error report, which haunted me for almost half a week.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNew to Fedora (from Windows), I am up and running ok with packages from the repository but only half ok with Processing, the Java graphics programming front end from processing.org.Their download gave me a .tgz file which Package Manager extracted for me into a location of my choice and where there is now a "processing" shell script.This works ok and I have managed to create a launcher on the desktop. That starts ok but always with processing's default action of giving you a new and automatically named work file.In Windows an existing Processing file (.pde file) could be "opened-with" Processing. Trying to do similar in Fedora I find that I am expected to nominate an Application to open with but Processing has not installed as an application.I guess the question is how do I promote Processing to be an Application?Or is there a different approach?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf you are interested, Java SE 6 Update 24 is available. The Check Java Version link in my signature will tell you if you are up to date or not. The Update Java Version link in my signature will tell you how to obtain and install the latest version. The 32 bit version install directions are on the left side of that page and the 64 bit instructions are on the right side.
Just remember to remove the current version before installing the new one as it says in the instructions. The remove instructions are below the install instructions. Also, in Step 9 - "Now you'll want to tell the system, that there's a new Java version available." See the note below it that says if you get an error upon entering the command once, enter it a second time. I have to do that and sometimes forget. Just thought I would mention that. These instructions are already setup for version 6 update 24, but they can be modified for any update and they will work. I have been using these instructions for a couple of years and they work.
Up until now I've kept Windows XP on my system because of a couple of programs that I need for video editing and processing. Just this past week I got a new computer with an AMD 2.8 GHz quadcore processor and I'm just wondering if with this machine I might be able to run XP in Virtualbox and not set aside an XP partition. With 4 GB of RAM, I should be able to give the Virtualbox adequate memory. Oh, yeah, I have a new 500 GB SATA hard drive, too.

I've introduced myself to OpenCV a bit now and can do some of the most basic things with it. My current goal is to have a solid color object (say a red ball) and have a camera be able to find that object. Anybody know of any resources to start learning how to do this? Any tutorials/books? Or is there something I should be searching for instead of color detection and tracking that will give me things more in the right direction?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOpenCV doesn't work. I wonder why would anyone create a RPM package and not bother to check whether it actually works? Do they get paid per package at Red Hat? The problem seems to be in cap_ffmpeg.cpp. Somehow, OpenCV cannot resolve the ffmpeg CODEC libraries, but the annoying part is that it compiles and installs error free - it just doesn't work. Without any error messages, it is really hard to figure out what is wrong.

I've detected the marker. It was easy. Now how do i know which window coordinates on two cameras are the coordinates of same marker? I mean there are markers captured on both cameras and some of them are representing the same marker in both cameras. I just like to know which ones are same on both cameras.
