Or at least that's what I figured, when watching videos from ....., etc., the sound in the left channel turns into distorted high frequency noise, anyone had the same issue? Is there a fix for this? Sound in other applications works just fine.EDIT: Oh, and I'm using the proprietary flash plugin, has worked just fine on my Ubuntu Studio on the exact same computer.
View 5 RepliesIt seems that when I start up any video in VLC recently that it automatically opts for the left only audio channel. This means that I have to go into the audio options with every movie or show I watch and switch it to stereo mode. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get VLC to automatically start up in stereo. The videos I have been watching have stereo audio so that is not the problem. I have worked though all of the advanced audio options and I haven't found a way to be able to set this up.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI can get sound with my integrated sound but I have a sound card in the pci slot that i want to use (more specefically my video card can play sound through an hdmi cable which i use.it is hooked up to a tv).the system sound and audio players and video players all play sound through the pci slot but flash will not.it keeps playing sound throught the integrated sound. is there anyway i can change the sound device with the flash plugin?ive tried pulseaudio but that was a disaster and would rather not use that again.

Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMencoder settings... I'm doing a simple transcoding of an avi file from FFmpeg MPEG4 codec to XVID MPEG-4 codec. The problem is that the audio bitrate is changing from 192 kbps to 32 kbps. The audio codec for both files is mp3 (MPEG-1 layer 3). (I'm transcoding the FFmpeg MPEG4 encoded avi because my blu-ray player doesn't see, let alone play it. Any XVID MPEG-4 encoded avi files the blu-ray player sees and plays fine). I ran mencoder trying the four settings below but the audio bitrate still comes out at 32 kbps:

When I convert files with mencoder I get the output with incorrect audio bitrate. Seems that mencoder ignores the bitrate I pass to it. Here's my script:

Why audio bitrate remains unchanged?
For some reason Java Applications running through Firefox have no audio, Java applications running through the java -jre command do run with working audio though. I don't know what else I need to post, but this is what I've been getting. Audio does seem to work with most of my other applications and games.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I have an Audio CD inside my computer in the desktop there is an icon called "Sound disk". When I left click on it Nautilus opens. I would like Rhythmbox to open instead.
I've tried to change in /etc/gnome/defaults.list :
But the problem is still here.
NB: I only need to click once on the icons of the files to open them (I changed the preference of Nautilus).
NB2: I have no problem with "Open with" in the context menu when right clicking.
NB3: I have no problem when I insert an Audio CD: Rhythmbox opens automatically because I selected that option.
I have a big problem with the flash plugin... Since a couple of weeks ..... and some internet sites with flash content don't work... sounds load and playback correctly but I see a grey square instead of the video.
One weird thing is that ..... videos work perfectly when tagged/embedded in another site, such as facebook or a gmail chat, but on the ..... official site I can't see a thing.

Although I did install the package flashplugin-nonfree, in debian that I'm a little more used to flashplugin-nonfree provided libflashplayer.so and not flashplugin-alternative.so which seem to be the one all my browsers are using. However about plugins in firefox says very little except "application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash". Can I just replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so and maybe make some links or something or would that be bad?
The process using my CPU is reported as plugin-containe but it only happens with flash video and not any other plugins. If the video is playing, paused or stopped/not started makes no difference. I did replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so, it didn't help. Seems firefox was using that plugin all along, presumably from here "/usr/share/ubufox/plugins/". I can't imagine I'm the only one who wants a fix for this here, there should be hordes. I use the latest kbuntu, flash player, firefox and kernel all from the repo.
Am running Maverick RC1 and when I try to install adobe-flashplugin in synaptic I get the message " Depends:libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0(>2.21.6) but this is not installable".

In any browser, ..... or other flash video's fail to load (grey square appears) other apps are not clickable. also in other apps the flash plugin just plain sucks... liferea doesn't play video's for instance, not from any source (vimeo, .....,...) since last week it just started crashing my browsers, or even freeze up the whole system, until the correct browserwindow was closed... I'm using gnome and compiz on top. Is there an alternative for the flash plugin provided by adobe? are there known issues with particular gnome or compiz settings, or any other settings for that matter?

Firefox works fine too, and installing a flash player plugin is all right.
The problem appears when I reboot and see that Firefox no longer has the flash plugin installed.
So I tried making a persistent image USB stick for this, added the persistent keyword at the end of the boot options, and Firefox still forgets that it can actually play ..... videos.
The persistent image USB seems to be doing something, at least browsing through it shows several folders, for instance /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin which constains a file libflashplayer.so
It's just that Firefox doesn't seem to care. What else should I do?
We should find a way to patch Flash plugin to inhibit the display of the warning "Press ESC to exit full screen mode". On Windows it's possible to perform the trick perfectly by patching the DLL using a Hex editor, but on Linux? I'm unable to correctly alter the binary /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so .

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter update of adobe plugin to version 10.1.102.64 (10.1.r102) plugin crashes if I try to switch to full screen. Previous plugin (10.1.53.64) worked perfectly well. Anybody with the same problem? My system is System76 Gazelle, Ubuntu 8.04 with all latest updates, nvidia drivers.

1. Same effect in Google Chrome, which uses its own plugin 10.1.r103
2. Same effect (both in Firefox and Chrome) on Thinkpad T41 with ubuntu 8.04
I downgraded plugin to r53 for now, but it's not a good idea, last update fixed some security issues.
I'm trying to use the LADSPA SWH Gate plugin to remove soft breath noises from an audio recording, but it's not working very well for me. It'll cut out chunks of the much louder spoken audio, while leaving the much quieter breath noises intact. I mean breath noises that are so quiet, they don't even show up on the wave form. I know you can manually go in and drop silence onto each spot if you want to, but I saw the noise gate method work wonderfully in GarageBand so I'd like to use it here too, but I'm just not getting any results.I'm using both Audacity and Ardour.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes in BBC iPlayer - Bigscreen the fullscreen video does not open on top, and then none of the lirc remote control commands (irxevent) function, not even Escape (nor Alt-TAB, which would bring the fullscreen on top if I used the keyboard - but sitting in the TV couch I would prefer using the remote only).
This often happens on my SuSE 10.2 partition, especially when wanting to resume a video, but never happens on my Kubuntu 9.10 partition. Both are 32-bit using KDE 4.3.5 Firefox 3.5.8 and Adobe Flash 10,0,45,2.
How can I get the fullscreen on top??
