Ubuntu Multimedia :: Cinelerra Is Moving Sound/video Tracks After Add Effect/s

May 19, 2010

I have been messing around with Cinelerra after doing a Final cut pro course some time ago but as it needs to be told what to do more i am finding it hard going. When I have track 1 that has audio and video and also track two has the same then i mute the audio in one and block out the video in then other. Then add effects. It is then moving audio or video around and nothing is in sync anymore. Not where i put things. I undo the effect to see if it will go back but no go. I try to undo to the point where maybe i missed something but nope that is not it. Inevitably i have to redo everything again but then i end up with the whole thing out of sync again. I had a previous install of Ubuntu and Cinelerra and i don't remember striking this problem. Am i not loading the tracks properly. I don't have a good work flow with this and i know i should try something more simple but i am impatient to edit videos i have had for years and years and years. I never did learn editing in windows so i am happy to be getting somewhere in Linux.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: No Sound In Cinelerra Preview / Get Sound During The Editing Session Of Cinelerra?

Apr 5, 2010

Anyone know how to get sound during the editing session of Cinelerra? Any ideas out there?

Looks like no sound in rendered file either! So no sound at all with Cinelerra....

p.s. I have sound working fine with all of my other programs. And working with same files on Kdenlive, Kino or Pitivi, all give me sound no problem. Running a basic Karmic Ubuntu Studio 32bit setup.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Extract And Joing Multiple Audio Tracks With Video

Dec 2, 2010

I have two video files (Xvid) and would like to combine the video from one of these with the audio track of the other, in order to create a new video file.

This is somewhat complicated by the fact that I would like the resulting audio to be a mixture of the two original audio tracks, for instance, during some time segments, I would like to switch from one to the other, but the video should always be the same.

Another issue that complicates the things is that the two audio tracks have different bit rates, and when I briefly managed to merge the two, one of the audio tracks was playing much faster than the other. To clarify, the audio tracks should not overlap but just be played at the different time during the video playback.

I am trying to do this by using Audacity. The problem is that I am fairly new to Audacity and I have not been able to find any info in their user guides regarding this specific issue.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rip A CD Of 16 Tracks Into 8 Tracks Mp3?

Aug 21, 2011

I use abcde to rip and encode all my music. It works great especially the option of ripping an entire cd to one flac or mp3 file, this was great for Sleep's Jerusalem. Anyway I have a cd by the Melvins (the Maggot) which they famously split each track into two tracks midway through the song. I would like to know if there is a way to rip them into "whole" tracks?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: LiVES Video Editor Effect Missing?

Mar 16, 2010

I've got some video clips that were shot with an incorrect white balance, which I'd like to correct. Having read that LiVES has color FX, I thought I'd give it a try.

The documentation for LiVES [URL] shows a "colour correction" effect that I don't see anywhere on my copy of LiVES 1.1.5. My digging so far hasn't found a plug-in that does color correction.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: 10.10 Sloppy Video - Desktop Effect Cannot Be Enabled

Oct 18, 2010

I installed 10.10 (tried upgrade and clean install) on my thinkpad x40. I could not enable desktop effects and video playback is very sloppy. On 10.04 works fine. I tried compiz-check

Checking for texture_from_pixmap... [ OK ]
Checking for non power of two support... [ OK ]
Checking for composite extension... [ OK ]
Checking for FBConfig... [ OK ]

This is the output on 10.04
Code:

At least one check had to be skipped:

The vesa driver is not capable of running Compiz, you need to install the proper driver for your graphics card. I tried with newer kenel, but no luck. I tried to install the newer driver from intel. I am not quite sure I managed to install them properly, though. Is this the appropriate sub-forum for this topic, or "hardware and laptops".

I did this in hopes of getting sound in Fusion 3.63 to work.

Now, when I try to go to System > Preferences > Sound, it just says "Waiting for sound system to respond" and just hangs there until I hit cancel.

Also, when I plug-in my headphones, it plays through the headphones AND the system speakers.

Software :: Cinelerra-CV 4.1 Video Playback Is Jumpy - How To Adjust

Jul 20, 2010

New installation of Suse 11.3, with a new build of the git repository Cinelerra-CV 4.1 from the [URL] web site instructions.Loaded a 5 second mpg file into Cinelerra, and then tried to play it back in both the viewer and the main window. It does decode the video and play it back, however, the playback speed is not smooth. It jumps, in what look like 1 second intervals, and then it gets really slow towards the end of the playback. By jumps, I mean that it is like the speed of playback is on a curve with bumps on each second. Since this is a new installtion of Cinelerra, it could be some settings that are off, as it has been some time since using Cinelerra. For comparison, the same mpg file plays back fine in Kdenlive, although Kdenlive uses a much smaller playback screen...but it is nice and smooth in terms of playback speed. It also plays fine in Banshee.I did take a look at the Cinelerra html manual, and there was a section on system adjustments that you can make...although I would like to find out what is causing it, and if it is a feature of the Cinelerra build?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: HD Video Playback - Video And Sound Frequently Get Out Of Sync

Oct 17, 2010

When I play large HD videos in mplayer, the video and sound frequently get out of sync, and the video plays a little strangely (occasionally speeding up and occasionally slowing down).

I think it's because mplayer is only running on a single core. As I've got a quad-core processor, it seems inefficient. I've seen that there is theoretically a way to get mplayer to work with multicore setups, but it requires compiling with different options. That'd take me a little while to work through.

Ideally there would be a pre-compiled version in the software centre, or a player which has support built in (again, ideally in the software centre). Is there such a thing available?

Since they haven't upgraded there version to 10.10, you are stuck with all the old dependencies. I needed to install: libcinelerra. Searched it, but this libary needed libx264-85, which I cannot find in Synaptic. Probably because it is and 10.04 libary. I do have libx264-9x.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rip Some Tracks From A CD

Jul 6, 2010

Why are things so difficult using Linux/Ubuntu? I'm trying to rip some tracks from a CD, I've looked at various threads telling me how this might be possible. I've tried RipperX, installed it, used it, and the resultant track I was told couldn't be played because I didn't have the necessary files installed. Funny because I have quite a number of MP3's which play quite happily I tried RubyRipper, couldn't for the life in me work out how to install, never mind use it. I then switched to Windows, Googled CDex, downloaded it, installed it and ripped the three tracks in less time than it's taken me to type this. Don't get me on the subject of cropping photos in Gimp or F-Spot.

Michael Jackson

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Ripping CD's With Tracks That Blend Together?

Nov 14, 2010

I've been ripping some of our CD's to .ogg and .mp3 for listening at work with a Sansa Fuze. Have used RubyRipper but lately been using Rhythmbox. The app finds titles online, and it's all pretty easy.

Some rips are louder or quieter and that's a little annoying. But the biggest problem is with tracks that blend together and the app can't figure out how to dissect them. The Eagles "Dalton" CD is a mess. Also some Don Henley tracks, Creedence Clearwater, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.

I could use RubyRipper to rip the entire CD as one file. Or use RubyRipper to rip just the troublesome tracks as one file. Or maybe screw around with the tracks in Audacity? Was hoping that some of you have better fixes.

Other times it happens from startup. Neither restarting the player nor rebooting the VM necessarily helps.

Debian Multimedia :: Installing Cinelerra On Squeeze (amd64)?

Apr 25, 2011

I think about editing and compressing some avi files and want to install cinelerra-cv. However there are some dependency problems it seems...

aptitude install cinelerra-cv cinelerra-doc cinelerra-cv-data

The following NEW packages will be installed:

cinelerra-cv cinelerra-cv-data cinelerra-doc libavcore0{a} libavutil50{a} libfaac0{a} libmjpegtools-1.9{a} libmp3lame0{a} libmpeg3-1{a} libmpeg3hv-1.5.0-1{a} libquicktime1{a} libquicktimehv-1.6.0-1{a} libva-x11-1{a} libva1{a} libx264-112{a} libxvidcore4{a} mpeg3-utils{a} ttf-bitstream-vera{a}

The following packages will be upgraded: libavcodec52 libpostproc51 libswscale0 3 packages upgraded, 18 newly installed, 0 to remove and 5 not upgraded. Need to get 16.5 MB of archives. After unpacking 31.5 MB will be used. The following packages have unmet dependencies: libavformat52: Depends: libavcodec52 (< 4:0.5.2-99) but 5:0.6.1+svn20101128-0.2 is to be installed. or  libavcodec-extra-52 (< 4:0.5.2-99) which is a virtual package. The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

[code]....

Normally I say yes and hope for good, but this time... I do not use adobe flash player, but I would still like to watch ..... videos. Would be hard without gnash, right? I use iron portable and iceweasel. Also I use totem a lot, but aptitude seems not being able to resolve this inconsistency automatically. My question is: what would happen, if I just say "y"? gnash is completly away? And is there any way to install newer version of gnash or do whatever to have everything working?
