View 3 RepliesI am burning DVD iso's and they seem to work great I have video output and sound output however as the film goes on the audio gradually becomes more out of sync but if I hit the rewind button on my remote and then play the sound is in sync again for a few minuets. I am using DeVeDe and Gnome Baker to create and burn my iso images to disc and they work great on the computer but not so great on my dvd players I am burning onto Verbatim DVD-R using Ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've bought Earthworm Jim 1&2 from gog.com thinking that i could play it on my old Pentium 2 computer running DOS.
The problem is the game requires it's soundtrack CD, which is suplied by GOG in the form an ISO image with a .inst file that acts as some kind of header(just like a cue file is to a bin image). It contains details about the tracks. But i have no ideea how to burn it. Brasero will burn it, but it's unreadable. K3B doesn't seem to like it.
DOSBox has no problem mounting this type of image, and the game works fine after i've mounted the image.
So the question is, how should i burn this type of file(ISO Audio Image with .inst header)?
I'll also post the contents of the .inst file
Code:
FILE "EWJ1.gog" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO

I tried Disabling PulseAudio via Yast (didnot remove the packages), and the channels came back in KMix, but then the native apps of KDE, if I can call them so, like Kaffeine started playing 5.1 movie tracks in stereo! In VLC at the same time I had to choose manually 5.1, but then stereo tracks didn't played. Enabled PulseAudio back. Selected Analog Surround 5.1 Output (Phonon->Speaker Setup), backend is GStreamer. Installed the VLC Pulse support package (vlc-aout-pulse). Selected Pulse as the Output Module in VLC. Now Kaffeine plays 5.1 and stereo tracks properly as well as VLC now Automatically switches to 5.1 playback if the track in movie is 5.1 and also plays stereo tracks properly. I guess with PulseAudio we will need all audio/video apps to have some kind of PulseAudio support (built-in/plug-in) or else we will face probs. Now I need them all channels (master, front, centre, rear and LFE). Especially I need LFE (bass) which is too high by default, and I run alsamixer to minimise LFE channel, but as soon as I play a movie or music it is back to 100% automatically.

With Windows it is no Problem but with Linux my Receiver only get 2 Channel if i play a Truehd or DTS-HD File. Normal DTS and DD works with 6 Channels.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to burn an audio CD with Brasero. Every time I try this, it fails, but it works when writing to an image file. Brasero quits with the following messages in log:
Code:
Checking session consistency (brasero_burn_check_session_consistency brasero-burn.c:1744)
Unsupported type of task operation

Do you know what could be causing this?
Today I want to install Ubuntu on a friends laptop. I finally convinced him to leave Windows and move on to Ubuntu. Ironically this has brought me into problems. I have downloaded the ubuntu-10.10-dvd-i386.iso and ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso to make a bootable cd/dvd to install Ubuntu. Now both K3b and Brasero give me problems burning one of the .iso files. I already waste some CDr and DVDr. I will share some logfiles for your info;

Trying to burn with CD/DVD Creator. I can't find anything in the program (settings wise) that will automatically convert mp3 files to wav files. I used to use k3b, and it used to do that. I did try installing k3b, however I am getting glitches in the program. I don't want to covert mp3 files over to wav every time I want to burn a new cd. Does anyone have a suggestion as to another program or place to find the burn setting for encoding?

This is using both Brasero and K3b, the disk stops writing about halfway through on Brasero and a tenth of the way through on K3b. I'm just trying to burn a data DVD and have tried low & high speeds.

I have finally ripped my dvd collection to my external hard drive, and now I want to make fair use back ups of my discs (incase the worst happens and I lose my HD and my original disc) I remember there was a tutorial on these forums a while back but I can't seem to find it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need something that will convert and then burn a DVD. I have tried almost all of the options on Ubuntu including Devede, K3B, Avidemux, Qauthor, Tovid, Transmageddon, DVDstyler and probably more. None will convert to a NTSC format without trying to create a DVD menu which seems to be the problem involved in playback except for Transmageddon, but it fails to provide the bup and ifo files to go with the video files to get K3B to burn it. I'm able to make DVD's that work on computers, but I want DVD's that will play in my DVD player. Any programs other than the ones I named that can do the conversion without creating a DVD menu and create all the files needed to get K3B to burn it? If needed, I'm converting from AVI. Also,

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Video DVD on HDD. Complete structure in VIDEO_TS folder. Problem is I can't find a program to successfully burn it. Brasero doesn't even have an option for Video DVD. The Video DVD option it has wants to try and do encoding or something. It doesn't even take the VIDEO_TS folder. If you choose data disc and burn the VIDEO_TS folder then the disc don't work in stand-alone DVD players and only works on the Linux pc itself.
Gnomebaker has the same problem as above.
K3B doesn't want to work. Just keeps giving the error "Unable to determine size of image".
So where to turn ? Is there an app for Ubuntu that can actually burn a video dvd to be playable in a stand-alone dvd player ?

I havev tried to play the audio with smplayer (not luck), vlc can play the audio but the pause button doesn't work so I have to listen the entire audio all the time I stop it playing. Is there any audio player capable od reproducing in the proper way this audio in ubuntu? No one of my video players totem, smplayer, realplayer or vlc are capable of playing this video: [URL]
I want to do is this: choose the order (other than alphabetical) of the files that I burn to a disc.Brasero doesn't allow it K3b doesn't allow it GnomeBaker doesn't allow it Unless I am missing something, I can't figure out any way other than renaming all my files with a single number and/or letter at the beginning of a file name to choose the order of files. This blows my mind it seems like the most "no duh" feature that everyone would need in any Cd burning program. if I am stupid or if the software developers are stupid. (because I really can't see any other options) This is seriously so important (to me), that I will abandon Linux and go back to Windows if I can't do it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a music player, similar to rhythmbox, but one that allows for drag 'n drop mp3 cd burning capabilities.
If I'm not clear, I want to be able to drag songs from my library into a playlist, or whatever, just like rhythmbox will do for audio cd's, but be able to burn it as an mp3 cd to allow for long playlists.
My music folder is close to 10000 files in MANY MANY different folders. So making a long mp3 mixtape would be much easier if I could do it in the same program that already has every song in front of me.
I have tried to burn dvd's using Brasero, after making the dvd etc I choose to burn as a video, but it gets to around 95% of converting the file to MPEG2 or 4 (Tried both) and just sits there doing nothing!I even left it over night to see if that helped but no joy.
View 3 Replies View Relatedit seems Ubuntu can't just BURN CD or DVD. I've used Brasero, GnomeBaker, K3B - They all miserably FAIL.
Plus, they Break My DVD Drives, after trying sooo Many Times, leaves it behind useless.
I bought 3 DVD Drives: Lite-On, Sony and LG. In a span of 3 Months, UBUNTU completely DESTROYED all of them.
I'm not sure why. BUT first, I find Ubuntu can't burn using above Applications. 2nd, DVD stops working.
Error message from K3B, using it, since it's the most stable I've found. cdrdao crashed, file permissions problems, perhaps TAO will fix this, and a lot more of these crap.

When i was adding the folders, brasero poped up a message saying that it need to rename some files to make them windows compatible,i accepted the change and proceed. I tried diferent combinations to burn the dvd (removing the files that need to be renamed, even i tried to burn the files to a iso image) and alwas fail exactly with te same error in the same step.I instaled the gstreamer packages from packman and all looks good.Any idea whats going on? Also, if someone has the same problem, maybe it's a bug in brasero that needs to be reported: if so, how can i get usefull info to report it?
I have a folder called VIDEO-TS filled with .vob files and other things. I did it before, but don't remember what I used to make it a regular dvd video. I tried Devede, but when I drag the folder to the app, it says "folder contains non-vob files and can't continue" or something like that.

* images

Ideally, it would also have a generic xml/rpc interface for easily updating information screens via iphone/android. I'm contemplating whipping something up in jquery to run in a fullscreen browser, but have a feeling I might be reinventing the wheel.
I was trying to burn an .iso with K3b a little while ago, and had some problems. First of all, even though I chose 8x to burn my (16x) DVD, it switched to 11x or 12x around halfway through the burning process. There were also some ticking noises that I'm pretty sure were coming from the DVD writer, not terribly loud, but noticeable. This had never happened before. Finally, it got stuck at about 98% (but not frozen, as the time elapsed kept going), and did not finish burning--got an error message (and a bad disc): "cdrecord has no permission to open the device"
I inspected the disc and there was one dark spot (on the dye) about halfway through the disc, very thin and couple of millimeters long. (This was present only after burning). I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, K3b version 1.91.0, Lite-On DVDRW SHW-160P6S
