I'm on Ubuntu and I don't lag none the less at all. Is there a goood video tool that can help me record minecraft with little to no lag at all? Or some trick because I think I set my java priority higher than usual. I have only 2GB of RAM

I want to record audio from a sdl game which uses alsa as output (pulseaudio is purged). I tried gtk-recordmydesktop to no avail. Can I make the game output to jack? If not how can I record the alsa output of the game?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I was using Minecraft and it was working just fine, but then I got a rather common error. The fix is always to switch over to java sun. I did this, but now it has a black screen when I start the game. I realized after this that I hadn't tried simply reinstalling minecraft. reinstalling it did not fix the new problem. Can anyone tell me either how to switch back to jdk or how to fix the black screen?

I tried installing it with the Java website instructions and then with a sudo apt-get install command. I believe the problem is simply a plugin issue with Firefox. Anyway, the distro is Ubuntu 10.04 if that helps.

I recently set-up a MUSH (Multi-User Shared Hallucination), which is kind of like a MUD (Multi-User Domain/Dungeon/etc.). Basically, it is a text-based RPG for roleplaying games the old fashioned way from back before the dawn of GUI/graphic user interface. I would like to embed an application into my website to allow players (who don't want to download and run a separate mud/mush client program) to connect directly from the website. Though, I have not been able to set it up to work with my site. Perhaps because that is a MUD app and not a MUSH app? I don't know if that is relevant. It is basically a telnet type of connection, and that uses Java, though I'm not sure what else there is to it. 1. a decent screen recorder where i can crop to my designated x and y co-ordinates.
2. how will i record my voice and my partners voice via skype.
3. a good video editing software, where i can pan/crop and upload to videos with full 720p hd.
When increasing or decreasing the screen brightness, Minecraft crashes and to an extent freezes my computer UI. What I mean by to an extent is that I can move the cursor around, but I can't click on anything. I can also run keyboard shortcuts and type, which is how I restore my system by terminating all java processes with pkill.
What causes minecraft to crash and how can I solve it?

This game is Java based. After rebooting the game works, but on ending the game several notification boxes remain. If these boxes are not closed in the reverse order that the game opened them, it is no longer possible to close them. Only by killing the Java processes can these notifications be made to close. Also after playing the game, even if all these notifications are closed it is many times necessary to kill the Java process(es) in order to get the game to load again at a later time. I am currently using Slackware 1.30, but a similar problem has existed in several of the past releases.

I previously played this game on Windows so i know it does have sound. i HAVE installed "YSFlight for Linux" so i know that isn't the problem, and i have also checked all of the sound settings. Every other 'sound' that is with Ubuntu Linux works fine (music, video, error/notifications).
I am using Ubuntu Linux 10.10 with a Dell Inspiron 1525 which previously had Windows Vista Basic 32 bit. I have never had a sound problem with this laptop. Does anyone have any ideas of what is wrong? I am currently running Ubuntu Linux via a disk (the "Try It" option), to test programs that i like, and this is where i found the problem *
I just downloaded the game Braid for Linux as part of the Humble Indie Bundle #2, but the main two problems I have with it are that it lags noticeably on my fairly new computer [HP Pavillion dv7], and there is no sound at all. I have the speakers turned up to maximum volume, but I still don't hear anything. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble using Blender and XBMC after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10. Whenever I start the Game Engine mode in Blender (by pressing 'P'), Blender crashes. This happens both in the repository version (2.49.2) and with the newest version (2.54 beta).
For some reason, xbmc actually starts without problems now, but earlier the console output was somewhat similar to that of Blender. The output from Blender seems to indicate that there is something wrong with either libc6 or the NVIDIA drivers. The xbmc output (which now works ok) mentioned something about /lib/nvidia-current/libGL.so, if I remember correctly.

I have been trying to play this game dawn-rpg.sourceforge.net and it immediately crashes whenever I try to play sounds. The only other sound in this system I have are the sounds for the bash/dash terminal.
So my questions are:-
a. How do I test if the sound system is working alright.
b. Do I need to increase some kind of priorty/niceness to sound systems to make sure they get the available resources (cpu, memory ) whatever it needs ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll I can record in my computer using The Sound Recorder in Jaunty is 1. It's either MIC or an MP3. You have to turn off one to keep the other and vice versa. How do you record both?
PS I did some homework and they said I need to install a mixer. But I've tried alsamixer, gnome-alsamixer, kmix, jack, they don't the mixers that I need.
PPS I'm recording from Sound Recorder and gtk-recordmydesktop.
I have a Dell laptop and have multi-media buttons, some of which control the audio volume. But once a game is running like Sauerbraten, I cannot control the volume. The controls within the game are relative to the master volume, so if the volume is too low, I have to exit the game to adjust it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04, then rapidly to 9.10, when support for 8.10 was finally phased out. I've been trying for a few days to figure out how to record sound and can't get anything working. Sound playback works fine.
Here's what I've tried so far:

The terminal programs execute and quit after ten seconds, as expected, and create a sound of the appropriate length in my home directory, which is what I want. They don't report any errors, but the sound file they create is just soft background static with occasional soft clicks. Audacity also just records soft static with soft occasional clicks. The Gnome Sound recorder does slightly better, recording almost-intelligible sounds with bad static distortion.
I've verified that sound levels are not muted using the mixer, and have run through the Comprehensive Sound Problem Solutions Guide [url]. No joy.

If I open the "sound preferences tool" the device for sound input is "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" and even if I tune the volume of the microphone I don't see any movement in the input level bar. I've also checked alsamixer and the digital volum in the capture interface is set at the maximum.
