I'm currently using handbrake (with the gui) to convert some video files to mpg4. It takes about 2 hours to convert an average movie is there anything a little speedier? I'm running a core2duo processor.

.vob ----> .m4v
I've looked everywhere I could but I must be blind. I have Ubuntu 10.04 Server and I'm trying to batch convert .avi to .m4v in folders and subfolders. I can't seem to find a script to do that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a few live concerts in AVI format I wanted to convert to mp4 since that is the only video format the Google CR-48 currently sort-of supports. I can successfully convert a series of AVI TV shows, including a Pink Floyd concert in AVI. But if I turn around and try to convert a Pearl Jam convert in AVI format, it instantly says RIP DONE! with a 1.5kb file from the convert in the destination folder.

So I still have a windows partition for two reasons: 1) Steam I know you can run this on wine and I have tried that, but I can;t run valve games at max everything (including AA and Filtering) and I like my good graphics so there is not much I can do about that. The other reason is AVS Video Converter, I've fallen in love with it, it converts anything to anything quickly and flawlessly, but I want an alternative to it for Ubuntu, something that works flawlessly just like AVS, to refine my needs more, I use it to convert video for my PSP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Handbrake 0.9.5 for encoding and I'd like to add a "hard-subtitle" to a video : the subtitle has to be a part of the video. I've seen on makeuseof.com that we could hard-sub a video thanks to the "Forced only" option. On Ubuntu 10.04 amd64, I don't have any checkbox for this option while importing SRT file. I've got the checkbox for "subtitles" I add by clicking on the "+ Subtitle" button, but it seems to be useless (I had a video_name.srt next to my video_name.m4v video file to re-encode). Is Handbrake now supporting only soft subbing ?

View 7 Replies View Relatedsomebody gave me a dvd of my little music group, and i used a ubuntu application to edit out two clips (i think i used avidimux--it was about a year ago). it produced a clip in avi format, which is not accepted by anything. i'd like to upload it to my facebook or even videos, but need to convert it. i've tried about everything, but have had no success. i just downloaded winff and tried that. the conversion window produce a lot of information ending with "unknown encoder 'libx264'," whatever that means.
does anyone know how i would convert a clip from avi to mpeg4? it's driving me nuts.

I have an app called arista transcoder (a little slow, but very handy), which, for some reason, isn't able to convert the video. its strange because I was able to convert a few other videos from my ipod (same format) into .avi files last week. Arista says something about an unrecognized media type.

However, i dont remember the settings AT ALL. I open the working video file with AVIDEMUX, and check out the properties, but there is option in the lists to the left to convert to the video type that is open. Is there anyway to export the video properties, then convert any video, to those parameters?

What I usually do is fire up avidemux and convert the audio to mp3 stereo, as converting to a 5.1 format usually ends up with a very odd sound (like running everything through an echo chamber). What I'd like to do is run a script to batch-convert these files from AC3 to MP3. The video format may vary, but they are usually XVID. I am comfortable at the command line, but I am not well-versed in audio/video tool terms. I don't need anything extravagant, I just want something that works. Heck, even if it is done one at a time, having a shell script that I can use to simply type:

I urgently need a good video converter for converting videos.I have already installed FFmpeg and men-coder,Winff etc. The problem is each has its own drawback.For instance ffmpeg cannot convert a .avi to .3gp with audio working.
