I installed the gmusicbrowser to check it out, however it seems to have taken banshees spot in the unity indicator.Even after uninstalling and purging the application it stays in there as a broken entry,.
View 3 RepliesI upgraded to Maverick things generally went well - but I noticed TWO sound controls and removed one - later after a reboot I no longer have any. It will appear once I click on System/Preferences/Sound, but otherwise it doesn't show up on the desktop bar. I checked under the Add to Panel feature but no luck - any ideas how to get it back?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn my top right corner I got all my Ubuntu appindicators that come with Ubuntu 11.04. I also have Dropbox, caffeine and screenlets. Problem is that I cant click on dropbox, caffeine, battery indicator, wlan or sound indicator until I first click on messages menu and slide over to appindicator that I need. When screenlets appindicator is not present there is no problem. Its the same when I had Jupiter installed.

Recently Banshee won't start up all the way. If I just start it from the Unity launcher I get a blank white screen which will eventually stop responding. If I run Banshee from a terminal I get this output:

i'm running 11.04 64-bit and windows 7 dualboot. yesterday, i tried to merge some of my partitions using windows disk management and it didn't work. which was fine, but i had to reinstall and reupdate to grub 2.0 which i found out is a known problem if you mess with partitions in windows.everything is working fine in 11.04 now, except that my gapless playback in banshee is not working. there's now a little gap between every song. is this a hard drive problem? is there a way to fix it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to enable desktop-cube on unity, and when it did that it disable the unity compiz plugin.When it did that it removed the entire top bar that we has the buttons to min,max, and exit. As well as all windows default to the very top-left side of screen and under the the top bar so I Can not move the window ether.I turned it back to the unity plugin, but it did not work. Even tried to complete remove and install compiz and unity. This does not affect Unity 2D.

I don't really use Rhythmbox to play music so I leave it on mute, butI do use it to manage my iPod and it not closing has caused me nothing but problems. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem. It started with the network icon in the indicator applet in gnome-panel. It just disappeared! Somehow I managed to get my network icon back (perhaps after a restart), but as soon as it showed up, my sound icon disappeared.
I followed some advice I saw somewhere that said to add another indicator applet. When I did I had my network icon on my pre-existing indicator applet and a sound indicator in the new one, but no network icon. Because I needed the sound icon, I closed the original. But, I'm still stuck with no network icon now. This is pretty frustrating.
I have a user account on my laptop which does not display the sound-service icon in my notification area applet (Ubuntu 11.04). If I try to start /usr/lib/indicator-sound/indicator-sound-service manually, I get the following error:

In the many months I've had this account on this box, and as a result of the many minor mods I've made to the account, I've somehow bollixed something in the account setup which interferes with the startup of the service. I created a new account on the system, and the sound service icon displays properly, so I know it's not a system problem. Both the new, bare account and my personal account are in the audio group. As a work-around, I have an icon for gnome-volume-control on my top panel, which works pretty well.
Had ubuntu for a few years left came back last month. I lost the indicator applet in the panel. I don't know what I did to get it back. I feel like this is a very very simple thing to fix but I just can't find it. Here is a pic of what i'm talking about.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I did but I lost all audio. I'm running F15 with gnome 3. By opening system settings and then sound I don't find anything muted. Under hardware I have 3 devices, the first is RS880 Audio Device (Radeon HD 4200) this one has no sound at all when I click test speakers. Then I have quickcam comm STX and then I have Internal Audio which works by clicking on test speakers.. I have no clue of where to start to fix this but reinstall everything again.

Maybe it's just an Amarok2 problem, but whenever another app (for example Konversation) plays a sound file, the audio instantly cuts out (in Amarok2) and will not come back unless I quit Amarok2 and restart it.
Amarok2 has only the options - "HDA ATI SB VT 1708S Analog" or "PulseAudio" (which is NOT installed).

I can hear the sound of my files from any other program. However, Banshee 2.0 (the Ubuntu new player) seems to have a bug or something, and I can hear anything.
i've just installed openSUSE 11.3 on my dell studio xps 1640. but i have problem with my WLAN . it's a WLAN 1640 mini-card and i think there is no problem with driver. because it seems that it's installed correctly but i can't see any wireless networks (it says "Device is not ready"). is there any suggestions?by the way, when i turn my wireless to on (it's a touch key not a switch) only my bluetooth indicator is enabled not my wifi indicator.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was playing with Banshee and installed the banshee-extension-soundmenu package to get the Banshee control in the Indicator Applet Sound Menu.
I had so many problems with Banshee crashing and using up my system resources that I decided to stop using it. I deselected the Sound Menu option from Banshee's Preferences>Extensions, then I uninstalled the banshee-extension-soundmenu package.
However after this the Sound Menu is still showing the Banshee control. Is there a way to get rid of it?
The sound test in Sound Preferences works, but I get no audio from Banshee.

It had no music player, but I could play ogg files and the sound was OK.
Then I installed Banshee and (which installed some more packages). Now the sound is gone.
I installed Debian on my Asus EEE 1015P netbook.
i have a fresh installation of opensuse 11.2 32-bit. my soundcard is terratec ewx 24-96. the card is detected in yast, and i can play test sound from the yast/sound panel. all volume sliders are set to maximum values (i have also double checked it in alsamixer).
i *can* hear the sound when doing this test from the gnome terminal:
speaker-test -dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav
however to make this test work:
speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav
i had to remove the asound-pulse.conf file. after removing this file the second test (speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav) works. removing this file also solved the problem of missing sound in videos videos played in firefox. the original contents of the asound-pulse.conf file was:

the problem is i can't play any audio files (.wav or .mp3) in banshee.
i am sure the .wav file i use while testing is ok as i can play it with aplay.
when i try playing the .wav file, banshee does not complain about any missing codecs. the slider moves as the file is being played. i have also started banshee with the --debug option, but there were no errors in the output.
so my guess is that banshee is playing the files, it's just that it sends the data to the wrong device/channell or whatever it is.
all of the gstreamer packages i have installed are from the packman repository.
when i run gstreamer-properties, the only setting on the audio tab that gives me sound is: alsa (for the plugin) and default (for the device).
Just installed Open Suse 11.3 on my dual-boot PC ( and Ubuntu 10.10). Installation process of both OS goes well and smooth. But, unfortunately when I tried to play movies on both default applications (Banshee and Totem) in Open Suse Gnome 11.3, I've got the message to search for XVID MPEG-4 decoder. And till now, I still unable to search for it, because there's still no sound or a little sound on both players.

Sound is working fine-- I can test my sound card in YAST and get sound when I play audio or video files using kaffine. But when I try to use amarok or banshee I get only silence, even when I just try to play system sounds.
