My missus has a vius/trojan infected laptop running XP. i need to get 4 yrs worth of business/ training emails off it. Is it possible to transfer these emails from xp to ubuntu without sending them via internet.

I've also heard that the service may be available to users in Windows 7. Is there an equivalent of this in Ubuntu? Something I could set up that would snapshot files on my hard drive every so often, and let me recover deleted files or earlier versions of files?

Basically taking a csv file and moving it from mysql directory on my Ubuntu machine to a network folder on my windows server. (Windows Server 2003)
When I try that command from the command prompt I recieve;

I have ubuntu 9.10 & windows 7 on my laptop. I have one 40GB Primary partition (C & 60 GB logical partition on my windows. I have given another 20GB for ubuntu.
I hibernated my windows7 & then started ubuntu 9.10. Then I copied a folder containing some PDF files from my ubuntu to that 60GB (D on windows. Then I rebooted the machine & choose windows from GRUB. the windows came up from hibernation but nowhere I was able to see that folder which I copied.
Since ubuntu supports (understands) NTFS file system it means when I copied that folder it should have updated the Directory Tree of NTFS on that 60GB (D but that folder is not shown.
When I restart the windows the folder appears (ofcourse because windows checks the file system again for consistency while in hibernation it does not).
I have have ubuntu 10.10 at work hooked onto a Windows Server 2003. I have pretty much everything working peachy except I can't copy files onto the network drive. When I start my computer, i have to manually go to network places and navigate around until i find my company share drive and then its mounted for the rest of the day. I can read files from the share drive and oddly enough save documents through programs like gimp and open office, however if i go through nautilus to try and copy a file from my desktop to the company share, it won't let me. It just says "Error while copying 'yourfile'" and the details just say "invalid argument."

I update my system to 11.3 and cannot copy file(s) to Windows Server 2003 by Dolphi (smb://user@server/shared). After error inform for dialog box, I click on Cancel Button and see the file, or better, part of file (32.0 KiB) try copy. I can create folder, create file empty, but not copy file or files. The problem isn't permission, because I inform my credentials correctly.

I'm having a problem with my hard drive. Windows can't even open it. I run DSL linux and successfully moynted the drive so I can view my file structure. I thought I just connect my other windows HD, mount it and then just copy all the folders I need. Unfortunatelly I'm getting cp: cannot create directory blabla - read-only file system. I would like to improve the consistency of my Linux to Window pastes. I have per-mutated every combo of Clipboard and Clipboard2. I can not edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf like some other fixes suggest. I need a command-line method of copying files from a Linux box to a Windows machine that is in a domain and requires authentication. I cannot install additional software or services on the Windows XP machine. I can install any software on the Linux machine. I've tried scp, but the connection failed and if my understanding is correct it is because scp requires that the target (windows machine) be running an ssh service. Is there a command-line linux utility that can pass Windows domain user and password and then copy a file from the linux machine to a share on the windows machine?
