I have Ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop pc and Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on my Acer D250 10in Netbook.
I want to change my netbook Remix 9.10 to the full version of Ubuntu 9.10 as on my desktop
Is this possible and if so what do I do.

Just installed a 10.10 Beta on a PC, and wonder what I have to do in order to convert the stock desktop (Gnome?) into a "remix" type desktop with all those cool icons and menu organization.
The install of 10.10 Beta "just worked". Great!

Did I miss a step? Is there a hidden option to select UNE instead of Desktop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Asus EeePC 1201PN and am planning on installing Ubuntu on it. I prefer the traditional desktop interface and thus would like to install it. I have read accounts of people having no problems with it on the 1201N and am assuming it will be the same for my netbook.My question is is there really any difference if I install the Netbook Remix Edition then get the Desktop-Switcher and change it to the traditional interface? I heard that the NRE doesn't use Nautilus. If I install NRE then use the Desktop-Switcher will I be able to use Nautilus or will it still be the NRE with everything else to "optimize" the netbook's performance?
Would it be possible to install the Desktop Edition then get repositories for things that will help my netbook perform better?

Only thing i might be doing wrong is using an external 320gb hdd that i had previously formated to fat32 instead of a usb pendrive. Is this the problem, note i dont have a pendrive large enough.

I'm not a huge fan of netbook remix, and I find it really doesn't add a whole lot to my netbook experience. I was quite surprised when setting up evolution and empathy to find a number of the windows didn't fit on my 1024x600 screen.As such I would like to put normal Ubuntu 10.04 onto my netbook. View 4 Replies View RelatedJust bought a refurb PC900 and also now have a SDHC Flash with Ubuntu 10.4 netbook remix on it so that I can boot from it. I am having a problem that the UNR shows the time and date 5 hours behind the real time. The notebook BIOS is correct. When I try to set the time and date it goes back to the original time that was set before withing a few seconds. I set up a new user with administrator full access but that did not solve the issue. I have also tried setting up Ubunto One but my system does not act like the directions online. Can I get files from my non-ubunto pc to my PC900? It seems only one way to me right now.

The reoccurring problem that I am encountering is that when I boot from the USB-drive and begin to install everything seems to be working, and then it is stuck at the menu where it asks who are you?; and of course i have filled in everything asked and at the bottom where you can look at what its doing in the terminal/detail section all it says is ready when you are, and the forward tap is unselectable.
Why i cant change from 800x480 to 1024x600, that this model of EEE pc doesnt support anything higher than 800x480 at the 10:1 ratio...
Firstly my question is, is it ACTUALLY possible to 'overclock' this type of netbook to run a higher res?
Im running ubtuntu netbook remix 10.04 and am new to linux (again, so sorry) so be nice, and ive tried getting my head around this 'sudo' stuff, and the xorg.conf file (which is nowhere to be found) and ive even tried a program calld astray but im pretty sure ive exhausted my patience as trying to self-teach . . .
And ive also tried to much around with xrandr or whatever that command was.. but i cant really get my head around it, and it kept telling me the resolution didnt exist ect...
For the past 2hrs I have been struggling to make KDE launch plasma-dekstop instead of plasma-netbook, but all in vain.I removed, then purged plasma-netbook and plasma-netbook-default-settings packages but after logging out and re-logging in the Netbook UI was back! After restarting the system now I can't even seem to get the KDM. I am greeted with a black screen.--- I restarted the system again and the nasty little bugger is back again! This is so frustrating. How do I get plasma-desktop to load instead?---- Great now I can see that plasma-desktop and plasma-netbook both are running simultaneously! netbook on top of desktop. So my final Q is how do I stop plasma-netbook from loading?
