Ubuntu Installation :: Change Netbook Remix 9.10 To The Full Version Of 9.10 As On Desktop?
May 29, 2010I have Ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop pc and Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on my Acer D250 10in Netbook.
I want to change my netbook Remix 9.10 to the full version of Ubuntu 9.10 as on my desktop
Is this possible and if so what do I do.

Apr 22, 2010do you have any suggestions how I can install Ubuntu netbook edition on an old Laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook 2131) currently running Windows 2000 with all servicepacks (if I recall correctly it is SP5) without boot-support for USB-Stick/Media, CD-ROM, PXE/netboot; booting is only supported from builtin harddisk and from floppy-disk drive, which is definitely broken. (with working floppy disk drive all would be fine). I also installed WUBI, but the harddisk is only 4 GB, so I had to use the USB-Stick as the Ubuntu install partition and this is not supported by the Laptop as it cannot boot from it.
Has anybody an idea, is it viable to online-resize an NTFS-partition to create a small linux-partition for bootstrapping the install?? I do not want to, it's still useful, so when crashing the NTFS-filesystem is likely I prefer not to take this route and leave the laptop with Win2k installed.

Jan 19, 2010i am currently running ubuntu 9.04 gnome and would like to switch to netbook remix before i do i just need to check my hardware will work:
512mb ram
sis 650 vga graphics
1.4ghz intel pentium 4 processor
is this ok to install and would any graphics run ok or could i switch them off so it would run smooth. is there a way to upgrade to 9.10 and netbook remix can i order a free ubuntu netbook remix cd? i am using a laptop not a netbook i want netbook remix as it looks and is very clean and simple and would be a really nice change from the boring gnome theme no offence. finally can you turn it off just if you need to use a normal gnome desktop.

as far as I know it is possible to upgrade from cd using Alternate cd's, but what I want is to stay with netbook remix so dont want to upgrade to desktop or anything else.

Jan 3, 2011I am making the switch to Linux and I really love Ubuntu. My DVD player isn't working, so I'm using my flash drive. It was too small for the desktop installer, so I used the netbook. I'm installing it as I type this (having the browser thats available for browsing while installing is awesome!)
Is there a way to upgrade to move to the desktop version after I finish? Also, what's the difference between the two. Links are fine. I tried google, but my google-fu must not be too strong today.

Sep 14, 2010I just bought an Asus EeePC 1201PN and am planning on installing Ubuntu on it. I prefer the traditional desktop interface and thus would like to install it. I have read accounts of people having no problems with it on the 1201N and am assuming it will be the same for my netbook.My question is is there really any difference if I install the Netbook Remix Edition then get the Desktop-Switcher and change it to the traditional interface? I heard that the NRE doesn't use Nautilus. If I install NRE then use the Desktop-Switcher will I be able to use Nautilus or will it still be the NRE with everything else to "optimize" the netbook's performance?
Would it be possible to install the Desktop Edition then get repositories for things that will help my netbook perform better?

I'm not a huge fan of netbook remix, and I find it really doesn't add a whole lot to my netbook experience. I was quite surprised when setting up evolution and empathy to find a number of the windows didn't fit on my 1024x600 screen.As such I would like to put normal Ubuntu 10.04 onto my netbook. Jul 27, 2010Just bought a refurb PC900 and also now have a SDHC Flash with Ubuntu 10.4 netbook remix on it so that I can boot from it. I am having a problem that the UNR shows the time and date 5 hours behind the real time. The notebook BIOS is correct. When I try to set the time and date it goes back to the original time that was set before withing a few seconds. I set up a new user with administrator full access but that did not solve the issue. I have also tried setting up Ubunto One but my system does not act like the directions online. Can I get files from my non-ubunto pc to my PC900? It seems only one way to me right now.
