I forced an install for flash player 10 and now I tried removing and installing the free flash player thingy and now getting this error in the screenshot below:

I been using all the options and installation instruction posted on the adobe site but still I can't find my way in.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am very new to Ubuntu, decided to try it again with the new 10.4. I really need to have flash player plugin installed, but I get this error:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
I even tried to go through the software center and the extra install through the help site from the firefox browser, but still get the error message.
I've tried using synaptic, didn't work. Tried completely removing it with the synaptic and then installing it again using apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree. didn't work either.
I've looked around a lot and I have yet to find anything helpful.
In synaptic and in terminal i get this: "Sub-process usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code(1)"
I don't really know what it means.
I read somewhere i should locate libflashplayer.so and copy it to the chromum-browser folder (i use chromium) so i ran code...
So it seems it's already in the right place. So i tried using this code...
i also checked the about: plugins page in chromium. I found the option to disable/enable "VLC multimedia plugin" under which i found "video/flv - flash-video". it was already enabled.
Well, i just don't know what to do.
I am having problems getting Adobe flash player to load.I went to there site and could only find the Linux download for Ubuntu 10.4 so I tried to load it using update manager to no avail cant seem to get it working in version 11.4, Works fine in version 10.10 . has anyone else had this problem?

Anyway, I've tried installing the adobe flash player package via gdebi and it complains binutils is not installed. fine, I go to synaptic to find binutils and synaptic cannot find it. I'm not even sure why it is not installed. How to get binutils?

Well being a newbie I have discovered something (or so I think!) regarding abode's flash plugin (flashplugin-nonfree): As per instructions from this same forum I had installed and used successfully in my Lenny 64, ever since it came out, abode's flash by first adding in my /etc/apt/sources.list the following repository: deb [URL]. Lately and for quite some time flash would misbehave and I had to reinstall it continuously and more often until it would work in the end only for some hours.
I reinstalled Lenny believing I could get over it but instead I ended up without any flash working at all! No videos only sound. Next step I deleted etch backports (#) and installed the sid repository: deb [URL] unstable main contrib non-free and went:#apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree which downloaded and installed flash 10 (I had flash 9 through backports) and consequently deleted (#) after that sid's repository to avoid updating Lenny, placing backports again in place although I do not know why ! Now I have videos working.

now where does yum install this to? how can i link Opera 9 to the plugin?

Today I installed an upgrade through update manager of the Adobe Flash Player Plugin and it breaks the flash in all three of my browsers: Firefox, Opera and Chromium. Had to revert to previous version to get it to work. Ubuntu Version 10.10 i386 Sony Viao Laptop.
