Ubuntu :: Incorrect Path To Installation Script Error

Aug 3, 2010

I'm trying to install Intel Fortran Compiler Professional Edition for Linux IA-32 and am getting the following error:

root@p-comp:~/Documents/fortran compiler/l_cprof_p_11.1.072_ia32# ./install.sh
Error: Incorrect path to installation script. Installation can not be started
if the path contains space symbols.
Quitting! Press "Enter" to terminate install.

I've tried after downloading fresh files from intel's site but the problem persists. The install.sh file exists in the folder. I don't understand what to do! I leave no spaces anywhere as the error message says.

Ubuntu :: Incorrect Folder Path Definitions

Feb 5, 2011

I have somehow managed to wreck the definitions /paths for my Home and Desktop. If I click on Places I now have a "Home Folder" displayed as "Open Your personal Folder", a "Desktop" displayed as "Open the contents of your Desktop in a folder" and a second "Home Folder" displays as "Open '/home/ian'"....and they all point to the same folder which is my personal user file "ian". This is kind of OK except that every file I have now gets displayed on my screen because "Desktop" has a view of these files. Is there any easy way to reset my file directory ? or do I have to backup my files and reinstall Ubuntu.

Ubuntu :: Error: Incorrect Format: Unknown Tag

Jan 10, 2010

I've been trying to solve this problem for DAYS now, without any progress. I've searched the forums for a long time before even starting this thread. So now I need help, PLEASE. I don't want to have to use WINDOWS in order to sync my phone with my computer, that's crap and there has to be a way. I have Ubuntu 9.10 and I'm trying to sync my LG Versa VX960V07. When I plugged it in to begin with, it was set on Auto-Sync Music, and the phone showed that it was connecting to the computer. I set it on Data-Sync and nothing happened when I plugged it in. I set it to Ask on Plug-in, and again nothing happens, and the box on my phone that says "Sync Data; Sync Music" does not pop up like it does when using windows.

First I tried installing a bunch of different music programs, Songbird, Amarok, K3B, etc and none of them work with my phone. I can't even install the MTP add-on for songbird, it's not supported under linux. Then I tried sudo apt-get install mtp-tools, which worked. Then MTP-detect, which showed no device. I also tried the command for searching for drives attached. And it did not show a USB drive attached. My computer simply does not detect my phone.

Then I tried this:

[URL]

Installing BitPim, which does not support the LG Versa, but the new 1.0.7 testing branch does. So I followed the tutorial on that page, installing Alien and trying to convert the RPM to DEB. I don't even know what these commands mean, I'm not a linux Guru, but I'm learning. I tried everything and spent like 3 hours going through this tutorial to no avail. Is it suppose to create a .deb file where the RPM is? If so it doesn't work, and it won't launch BitPim for me. I have no idea what's going on. When I try:

sudo alien -ic ~/Downloads/bitpim-1.0.7.20090805-0.i386.rpm

I get:

error: incorrect format: unknown tag
dpkg --no-force-overwrite -i bitpim_1.0.7.20090805-1_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 175361 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace bitpim 1.0.7.20090805-1 (using bitpim_1.0.7.20090805-1_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement bitpim ...
Setting up bitpim (1.0.7.20090805-1) ...

The "error" I get, I don't know what it means, but either way, this isn't working. I'm getting so frustrated with this and the forums are my last hope before I install Windows again. I really don't want to admit defeat and use windblows.

Ubuntu :: ERROR 126 (HY000) At Line 1: Incorrect Key File For Table '/tmp/#sql_2506_0.MYI

Oct 30, 2010

Recordedseek became corrupted and couldn't be fixed no matter what I tried, so I went in, truncated the table and rebuilt it with mythcommflag. I also did some myisamchk repairs on a couple of other tables (settings and eit_cache). Now myisamchk tells me all the tables are fine. But when I restart the database I'll get an error like: ERROR 126 (HY000) at line 1: Incorrect key file for table '/tmp/#sql_2506_0.MYI'; try to repair it

In terms of the effect, I have lost all my recordings. Listings seems fine (although it has crashed a couple of times, I think I've fixed whatever was wrong), recording schedules seems fine, but even though there is stuff due to record upcoming recordings is empty. Mysqlcheck isn't showing any problems, I'm at a loss as to where to go from here.

Ubuntu Installation :: 10.04 Preseed - Incorrect CD-ROM

Jun 4, 2010

I'm trying to preseed a 10.04 install, and it's giving me a lot of trouble. I've been using [url] as a guide, but I can't seem to make it work.

I have ripped the x64 alternate install .iso to my hard drive, inserted the preseed files (details on this later) and remastered and burned the iso. When I put the disc into my test PC, it boots up to the CD, checks for English keyboard, enters my custom install option and then fails. It brings up a red screen that says, "Incorrect CD-ROM detected. The CD-ROM drive contains a CD which cannot be used for installation. Please insert a suitable CD to continue with the installation."

The way I've understood the documentation is that there are 2 files that needed edited, and one file that needs created: edit /isolinux/text.cfg, edit /isolinux/isolinux.cfg, and create /preseed.cfg

Here is what I currently have in those files:

Code:

Code:

Code:

The preseed.cfg is 95% copied from the ubuntu documentation, I've only made the changes that are necessary. I'll admit I do not know what most of the boot parameters in the /isolinux/text.cfg file mean.

Ubuntu Installation :: Incorrect Filesystem Size After Clone?

Mar 17, 2010

Question:Several months ago I upgraded my hard drive on a dual boot machine (xp & U9.10 - both 64bit) from approx 80gb to 250gb. I chose to use DriveClone from windows to clone the old drive directly to the new drive. Operational everything works fine. the problem is the Ubuntu HD size went from around 10GB to approx 150Gb, but the filesystem only recognizes approx. 10GB as the total available capacity. I just tried to reinstall Ubuntu without reformatting and only recovered a few GB's. GParted reports the proper partition size. Is there any way I can correct this problem? It's not a big issue...I thought I would check here first before I reformatted the partition. The pre-boot disk check ran and reported no errors but the file system is still not seeing the unused GB's.

Ubuntu :: 10.04 Recognized By OS X - Error Message "Incorrect Username Or Password"

Jul 26, 2010

We want a file server for the office and have installed Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop onto a PC we had laying around with the intent of having it accessible by our Macs (all-mac environment). We followed the guide here:

http://www.kremalicious.com/2008/06/...achine-volume/

The server is visible (most of the time) in Finder with the Xserve icon but we cannot connect to it using the Ubuntu login/pw - it simply says "Incorrect username or password" no matter what we put in. We can always find it with Command+K.

The content of /etc/netatalk/AppleVolumes.default is:

~/ "Home Directory"
~/ "$u" allow:cserver cnidscheme:cdb

where cserver is the sole login for Ubuntu.

We didn't follow any of the instructions under the "Time Machine" section of that guide because we assumed we wouldn't need to since we're not needing that function.

What are we missing?

Looking at this, there are two weird entries (//sbin and //bin) which should both start '/usr' instead. I'm not sure how I've managed to change this, or how a piece of software I'm using has done it (more likely it was me I expect), but could anyone suggest which file to look in to correct it? From all the search I did, I narrowed this down to be a pam configuration issue. I checked that the /etc/securetty has an entry "/dev/ttyS0" to allow root to logon via serial console - so I ruled out this file to be a cause for that error. Few files that I am not entirely sure are as below:

i'm a new on linux system and i have a problem with SUSE 9.1. I google for yast repositories to install "gcc" but i only see for release 10+. So i think 9.1 version it old version. The thing is that i can't upgrade the SO because it's a "sever" for some applications, and my problem is that i need to install Nagios, but when i type the ./configure command its says:

So I decided to install packages with yast, but i can't find any active repository. I very new on this, and i don't know if i'm doing right the things. Also i don't have too much practice on english.

Red Hat / Fedora :: GCC - Configure: Error: No Acceptable C Compiler Found In $PATH

Jul 6, 2011

I'm pretty new at working with Linux/Unix systems, just started dealing with the CLI a week or two ago at work so bear with me if my questions/problems seem obvious, they probably aren't to me. URLs are at the bottom since I can't hyperlink to them. We have a server with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga), x86_64 GNU/Linux. For the past few days at least (not sure when it began) every five minutes we get two messages for CPU0 and CPU1 saying: "Temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled". Occasionally it says they are normal, so they're not *always* above the threshold but a majority the time.

The server doesn't have internet, so I interact with it and transfer files via ssh/telnet/sftp from my Windows PC to another server running Fedora release 10 (Cambridge) to the RHEL5 server. I have been trying to install lm_sensors to try and read the CPU temperature and possibly the fan speed, but every installation method has failed. I have tried installing it via the yum command I read about on this page (URL 1), but since it doesn't have internet access it didn't work. I then tried manually installing using the instructions on the lm-sensors.org page (URL 2), but whenever I try to install anything (gcc, libtool,

libsysfs) it shows:
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl.exe... no
configure: error: in '/home/user/src/libtool-2.4':
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

I then looked up how to install gcc, but when I found a .rpm file of gcc 4.1.2 for RHEL5 I tried installing that like it mentions here (URL 3), but there are lots of [dependancy] programs I can't find a .rpm for as it seems they are all outdated and hard to find for RHEL5. Do I need to find the installation CD in order to install gcc? And is there any other way to check the cpu temperature or to know how to disable/fix the messages about temperature being above threshold?
